It's good that you guys kept the lore segments, because it helps to understand the digimon better
I love the lore dumps personally. It makes me appreciate the complete absurdity of these digimon even more.
This.
I really having the card art and lore segment added to the quiz
MarinBullmon and Ryugumon are based on nudibranchs, a type of water snail that usually do come in absolutely wild colors, so MarinBullmon's odd color pallete is accurate
I really like the lore. I remember some of the older ones from my childhood but I don't know anything about the newer ones. I think its interesting
"We're all ugly in our own ways." Unironically, he was so real for this.
The lore segments are a fantastic addition.
It’s better to know more about the creature than what you can gather from a visual perspective.
The Sangomon winding up the fish and swimming in the same direction bit was funny lol
Ive been loving that older digimon are getting unique evolution lines cause marin bullmon and ryugumon look incredible imo
I kinda dislike it because people use it to disregard the old evolutions
@pn2294 that's fair I definitely think the new evolutions should be treated as branches or just alternate evolution lines as not to downplay the og lines
Yeah, I've been enjoying it too. Fingers crossed that they eventually revisit the Gotsumon line and add a palette swap Mega Evolution for it. You can't just make a line out of three different palette swaps and not finish it off with the fourth.
@ if you want to get technical, getting to Level 5 IS a full line.
Anything past that is extra
I don't really like it because that's never been necessary. Just feels like Digimon pretending to be Pokémon.
The reaction to Spin Shelter hit so fucking good.
26:16 I like it when you read the lore it's a nice break between hearing your friends losing their shit about the names and losing their shit about the attacks
I know the lore. I still want the lore. Just do what feels natural. The relatability of the series is sharing digimon with friends who don't know much about it.
I definitely love the lore segments, it adds increased wackiness to already wacky boyos.
Wow I love that lore segment
This is the first Digimon video since I started playing my first Digimon game (Cyber Sleuth) so it's more fun to participate in
Cyber Sleuth is fun. I beat hackers memory before Cyber Sleuth but now i have both games on switch am trying to beat Cyber Sleuth since the Pokedex thing transfer to Hacker memory.
18:08 Shellmon is a Beyblade confirmed
Let it rip.
Shellmon was in one of the only two Digimon anime episodes I randomly saw as a kid. It pretending to drown to lure the kids into the water to eat them stuck with me for years. And somehow it got mixed up with the Exeggutor episode of a certain rival anime. This brings back memories. Or well, it brings back that one speciffic memory.
Keep that Lore coming!
The lore segments are nice, considering that all revolve around symbiosis and that culminating to a goddess deity caring about mutuality and peace.
the card art just makes the digimons look better then their jepg images
The episodes where you’re all in especially giggly moods are my favorites. And personally, I appreciate the lore bits. They make me feel a little more interested in the mons, and god knows _I’m_ not gonna go look that shit up on my own.
Holy shit I love Ryugumon, that’s amazing. And it’s the only name I’ve gotten right so far! Purely by luck, but still!
It's weird that Nico wrote in his contract that he has to say "I actually thought it was that one" every video
@@braxtonbrockbank8911 it's pretty smart actually, the script writers write that line a lot for Nico, probably to burn his catchphrase into the viewers minds. For me Nico's "I actually thought it was this one" has a similar impact as "That's all, folks" from Looney Tunes or "Gotta go fast" from blue Shadow the Hedgehog
@@captainzuper2506 my favorite Sonic fact is that the only times Sonic has said "gotta go fast" have been in the 2014 Sonic Boom show, the 2020 Sonic movie, and the 2022 Sonic 2 movie, all as a reference to the meme. As far as official, non-licensed Sonic content, not a single character in any language has ever said that phrase.
@MitchFromFBS nononono, I don't want to believe that... didn't they sing "gotta go fast" in the Sonic X opening? So it must have been already a sonic-thing before that show, right? 😰
@@captainzuper2506 I won’t crush your dreams
We want lore bury them in lore
I love that fucking lore segment, I hope they do that again
I love the lore segment more, and the more Words the funnier
I could see Ryugumon as a pokemon box art legendary
It passes a vibe of Water/Dragon or Water/Psychic
I do like the lore and card art a lot. Being a longtime fan, before the card game the Reference Book Art was the most some Digimon had at all. So it's always great to see them brought to life and how it can make a design feel better.
Honestly even if I dont always comment, it's been a blast watching these quizzes change over time. And seeing some fun Pokemon/YGO/other topics too has been nice. Also to see Mitch of course.
I really like Ryugumon. My mind immediately went to One Piece, where there's an underwater palace called Ryugu Palace and a character based off Wadatsumi. MarinBullmon is neat, but what makes me like it more is that Bullmon already exists, so we don't even have to wait.
Also please continue with the lore stuff cuz it's fun to learn about them and also can't wait until you guys do the main Digimon for Liberator Pteromon because his line is probably my favorite of them all!
I love the card art and lore segments. Especially for the new digimon :3
I really enjoy the lore and card art segments as it allows them to better understand the mons and get even more reactions out of them. They're slowly becoming 9ne of my favorite parts
Please keep doing the lore, I think it adds another level of understanding when trying to comprehend the design and card art.
I love the lore bits in these.
I like the lore.
Lore = Peak 😂 I do wish you put the text on screen while reading the lore tho 😅
The flower ends of it I think are more so inspired by how anemones have mouths in the middle. I'm pretty sure they're like extra mouths or something. Doesn't make it any better I guess! XD
Also gonna add that I really like the card art and lore bits and think they add a lot to the videos!
I like the lore segment
The lore makes you special and I for one, love when you discuss. It also gives more joke potential so~
I love the lore segments
So we have Tour-guide Mitch and now Lore-keeper Tyler .
I like how the roles turn out so far👍 .
Yay me and mitch tied. It look like a Dragon Ryu means dragon i went for dragon. Wonder if sengokumon goes to the dragon because i think thats part of journey to the west.
the lore segments are good imo its fun
More Lore! More Lore! More Lore!
I could see Ryugumon as a Milotic and Lapras fusion.
Hot take but I love the lore dumps we get for each Digimon. It adds more depth to them.
Weird that Sangomon's baby and in-training level are Jellymon's, but I guess it makes sense for this line
The lore and yous guys reaction to the lore is well worth keeping in.
for the digimon card you can tell which one is the Alternative Artwork by checking if there a star beside the rarity circle (which in Ryugus case is SR [Super Rare])
in general digimon uses sometimes "full art-esque" designs for their normal cards which is the case for ryugu for example
Level 6 and up Digimon always have full arts(though usually with lots of text)
Ha! Digimon quiz, my favorite.
I definitely want to see more of the lore stuff. I really enjoy it. :)
"Man, I hate that f***ing lore segment, I hope they do that again."
There, did it just because you didn't want it, lol.
Y'all're right about the card arts, the second one (without the silver border) is the alternate art, rarer pull.
Sangomon was created for the Z-Pendullum v-pet in 2021, in which they were themed by the fields those digimon created in that v-pet belongs too. Sangomon for example is part of Deep Savers, which are sea creatures.
I love the lore segment, keep reading
“Which is based on a type of sea slug called the ‘sea bull’”
Technically incorrect. It’s not a type, it’s just that the literal translation of the Japanese word for sea slug ‘umiushi’ is ‘sea bull’
Living in the tropical, I like Sangomon design
tyler: can you smell what the ryugumon is cooking??
nico: its a submarine with some billionaires in it :)
me: criminy shits man. . . at least be detailed about it, its a submarine with some billionaires and a young adult in it.
edit: i wont lie, as soon as i heard the description of ceremonial four seas summons, my brain did immediately remember THAT incident. . .
There were no children aboard the Titan. The youngest was 19.
I'm enjoying this arc we seem to be in where you guys consistently one-up yourself with more and more cursed conversations and really test how many of them can fit inside one quiz without the entire thing collapsing in on itself
Edit : Not sarcasm btw, you guys chemistry is why I love this channel
We are rapidly approaching heat-death levels
The Final Evoolution is like Kyogre mixed with Lugia in Pokemon Fusion or something. That be amazing if they updated the game to do that. Or Kyogre and Milotic or something
sangomon does, in fact, launch water from its coral when using coral pressure
it's just that it doesn't shoot it from the _corpses_
I love the lore. And RWBY. And no matter how much I disagree with your takes, I’m not gonna stop watching you four. You guys are consistently awesome!
Edit: the name of MarineBullmon likely comes from the fact that the Japanese word for seas slug is “umiushi”, or “sea cow”. There’s a Yugioh card that also makes reference to that.
My brother made a new Digimon video? That sounds awesome
I love the lore, please keep it up.
Most geologists classify a mountain as a landform that rises at least 1,000 feet (300 meters) or more above its surrounding area. ☝️🤓
That definition was abandoned some time ago. The smallest officially recognized mountain in the world is only 43 m (148 ft) tall.
Damn, if a Leaf Sheep Slug Pokemon ever gets created, it's shiny is gonna be one of those that barely changes the colors.
Metabots quiz in the future hmmmmmmmmmm?
I'm guessing Ryugumon is based on the Blue Glaucus, the Blue Dragon Slug.
That OceanGate joke was savage
Hmm, I guess the last one is a reference to the Dragon Palace from the tale of Urashima Tarou.
And, as for the lore segment, you can make it easier for the viewers to follow by just showing a screenshot of that section of the wiki while you read it.
at 20:00 the digimon reminded me of these monsters from this one Gamecube game called Amazing Island. Like just with the face, horns, and teeth.
In my opinion you guys should only do ocasional lore segments, when there's something extra interesting or funny in there.
I love the lore bits!!
More Digimon Liberator Lines!
As you know from my previous comments, I love what Digimon Liberator has been doing for many of the oldest Digimon. Shellmon’s line was from 1998 as part of Patamon’s Vpet. So seeing it now have a full family that it can call a canon line is very nice. Heck it was like the second ever enemy Digimon in the anime!
Note 0: Keep doing lore. Sometimes it does help you understand the Digimon more, but then you can also laugh and have a chuckle about it just like reading the Pokedex. These descriptions are taken from the Digimon Reference Book, the official database for Digimon created by Bandai and Digimon are usually canonized when they get a page on that site.
Sangomon: Corsola combined with Goomy. It is a coral Digimon and I really like it as a pre-evolution for aquatic Digimon. We had a fish, a marine mammal, a tadpole, a furry gremlin thingy, a crab, a shellfish and more recently a jellyfish… and wow I just realized just how many options we have for aquatic rookies. Still Sangomon has that cute/creepy vibe that just makes it quite likable having traits of both corals and sea anemones in its design.
From what I know, it debuts from the 2020 Vpet Pendulum Z series as a representation of the Deep Savers (aka the water faction) of the monsters. Has been relatively popular and in its debut could evolve into Shellmon! Due to this little dood being relatively new, it hasn’t had many showings, so its role in Liberator is its first major role. It had a minor role as a background character in the 2020 anime.
Shellmon: One of the old guard and as said above, the second monster of the week in the original anime. It's a giant sea snail and I actually really like the design of this thing. Again it has anemone features, but from the flavor text it apparently acts like a hermit crab. What I think I like about this guy is the fact that he lacks the edginess of the older designs. The belts, the random geiger-esque designs, etc. This thing just looks like a strange mix of snail, seashell and mascot dinosaur with a bit of a derp factor.
As noted above, it debuted in 1998 as an evolution of Kunemon from the Patamon Vpet. It showed up in the original anime as the catalyst for Greymon’s first evolution and then later on the same one got worfed after all the rookies came together to defeat it due to how much more experienced they were. It has a LOT of video game representation and due to its history. Its most notable appearance is as a main partner for one of the protagonists as Digimon Survive.
Note 1: So on its attacks. The dood has SO many attacks and if you recall my previous notes on older Digimon, this is due to the fact that it has been in the series for so long. Only Hydro Pressure is noted as an attack it uses, but the other attacks have so many origins. Spin Shell and Tai Atari are from the Hyper Colosseum card game. Spin Shelter is from the card game video game. Guard Shelter is a move it uses from the PSP Digimon Adventure game. Water Wave is from another video game. Because it was a more minor Diigmon in that game, they opted to give it an existing attack to save space on the DS card. The last attack there is only there because it was from a Chinese Gatcha Game and it's basically Hydro Pressure with a new fancy name.
MarineBullmon: So, this is what happens when you try to MetalGreymon a slug. This thing… kinda icked me a bit when I first saw it and yeah I did not know how to feel about it. Then I learned that its basically designed as a pun. The thing is based on the literal translation of umiushi aka sea bull, which is their name for sea slugs. And it is the same reason that we call some sea slugs by the name sea hare, which is due to their antennae which look like cow horns or bunny ears respectively.
An interesting thing is that the English name translates this Digimon’s name directly and went for Marine Bullmon, which is just Sea Slugmon, but I guess they went with a more interesting name. They just added more metal parts and expanded on the design of “what does Shellmon look outside the shell?”, which is an interesting take. This thing takes the same design idea as Goodra, which is more expanded in its next form.
Ryugumon: GOODRA, SEA SLUG DRAGON, ME LIKELY. As you noted, it is based off a sea slug and the Ryugu Palace, hence the name Ryuguumiushi meaning Dragon Palace Sea Bull because the sea slugs in that family are all very pretty. It has many myths that revolve around it with the most famous being the Legend of Urashima Taro, which deals with a fisherman who is rewarded for rescuing a sea turtle and allowed to visit an underwater palace, but realizes the days he spent there were actually centuries. He was given a magical box that he was never to open as a farewell gift, but due to his grief of losing everything he loved, he opens the box and ages rapidly as the box sealed his age so he could survive his trip.
I am a sucker for designs based on myth and Ryugumon is a Digimon that is up there. As a fan of Milotic, this Digimon gives me the vibe of a potential fusion of Milotic and Goodra. The Blue Glaucus is called the Blue Dragon Slug and many fictional worlds with dragons have one that takes inspiration from these slugs. Though, the fact that it is noted that Digimon LIVE inside this thing means that it is massive.
So, in terms of Sea Slugs, Yu Gi Oh has one, and it is based on the leaf sheep!... Kinda.
"Kalantosa, Mystical Beast of the Forest" is a Lv 2 EARTH Beast that pops a card on summon, IF special summoned by a Beast Monster. It's super cute, and actually does see some play thanks to some decks being particularly good at summoning it on the opponent's turn
people already brought up the umi ushi thing, but fun fact it's also why the gastrodon line has horns.
i actually really appreciate the lore, they've also gotten some solid jokes out of y'all already
I agree with Nico. It's nice seeing the card art with the Digimon in different scenarios and with different expressions. It's why I love the TCG even though I don't actually play the game (I would if they would actually make a game or mobile client for it). Also, I will say I still really enjoy RWBY and never bought into the whole "it went to shit after Volume 3" mentality. 4 and 6, for example, are two of my favorite Volumes.
I also really like Volume 6! I always understood why people stopped liking it at volume 4, but the same way you understand people not liking a certain food. "i don't know it's just too ___" "and that's a bad thing?"
I understand a lot of the flaws of the show, but it's still really good in my opinion.
Okay, I actually love Ryugumon. And I agree, we need more sea slug sea serpents!
If the videos were scripted, all the text would be on Mitch's hat
Genius
I’ve lived my whole life trying to be Joe.
I think Joe is disliked for a good reason, but overly disrespected. He does his best to keep things realistic, but steps up when push comes to shove. Not necessarily the kind of character people tend to like in an action-adventure series, but still a good character nonetheless.
Speaking of nuts, Mitch strikes me as buying a bucket of powdered donuts solely to suck all of the sugar off and then declare them as done 🤔.
Fully assumed his papa was gunna say "Oh Hi Mark"
You should do "Dueled By Sandwiches" and make Tyler play YouGottaGo
A bridge is measured in Smoots
Voted most likely to suck doughnuts in high school
100% my favorite chanel no other chanel makes me belly laugh as hard as these fuckers
Love the lore. Make it longer
Honestly, a fully scripted quiz would make for a very fun April Fools' video: make it so it's obvious everyone's reading of a script and have everybody record their lines on their own instead of being on a call. Combine all the footage as sloppily as possible and you have content.
Also the melusines from Genshin Impact are based off of sea slugs. Sea slugs are cool.
Actually, I shouldn't have clicked on this video because I haven't read the newest chapters yet. Although, I immediately knew its name is Ryugumon based on the appearance and the shingles alone.
Monster Hunter has a nifty sea slug dragon
Sea-ling was really good.
Honestly Cardfight Vanguard recently obtained a new deck with a sea slug serpent as a boss unit based off of a Manga series for young adults for the first main girl of that. The Manga is called YouthQuake. And the archetype is called Mythiarq. It's a cute one with hybrid land animals gone all aquatic where the strategy is have a full field of different critters and then have them bounce from field to hand to swap them mid battle phase for more attacks like Bermuda Triangle. Big difference is the boss themselves can force a discard every turn it's placed so it can make guarding harder.
MarineAngemon and Evil Version are Sea Slugs. Manaphy ans Phione are also Sea Angels as well
Manaphy* Phione _is_ the baby form (though it's worth noting that Phione is _not_ actually considered a Baby Pokémon because it doesn't actually evolve _into_ Manaphy).
@@RabblesTheBinx Thanks.

@@RabblesTheBinx I was a bit tired today and i didn't want to Google it.
9:01 Dad has some good jokes
I donno if im alone in this but i love the new lore segments ❤
Lore is best part tbh
Fun fact every Digimon name end with Mon because mon is the file name for all Digimon
18:56 fun fact: Shellmon shoots that from the head butthole it has. You can actually see this in the anime
Can't wait to see you guys reaction to Espimon finally getting his full line, which they reveal last week in the latest chapters of the web novel version of Digimon Liberator. Because when he appear in Digimon Ghost Game anime, he only have his champion level and they didn't have time to make his ultimate and mega.
i enjoy the lore bits :P thanks guys!~
Lovin' the lore!
I like the lore segments
Cool line, I've only seen the Champion before. 2 points total, I kept losing my 50/50s.
Pokemon has sea slugs, they are called Shellos and Gastrodon, and Gastrodon is actually good competitively!
