Check this out. I studied linguistics and found out that the reason a word can be spelt and sound the same and mean something different is because it is actually two different separate words. So "Pedo" that means "fart" is actually a separate word from "Pedo" that means "drunk" or "Pedo" that means "how are you". This means you actually have three separate words called "pedo" in your vocabulary and you are never really saying "What fart?" which is why it works. An English equivalent is the word "Bank" which can mean "River bank", "bank" where we put money, "bank" as when we incline a vehicle to turn like a plane, all three are separate words and I don't think of a river bank or plane banking when I mention a bank.
