After giving Denver 8 years of his life, do they expect players to spend their entire career in Denver or they need to be booed?!?! That's a ridiculous mindset. The Audacity for the Nuggets fans to boo Melo in the house HE built. For 7.5 years, Melo made that franchise relevant and he led that franchise to the western conference finals and could have won it all if he didn't run into Kobe and the lakers(R.I.P. Kobe). But I'm not surprised about it either

    • @realniggashit3
      @realniggashit3 3 года назад +5

      Revisionist history. George Karl made the Nuggets relevant, not Melo. The Nuggets were going nowhere under Jeff Bzdelik and Michael Cooper. The Nuggets kept winning after Melo left. They actually came closer to beating the Lakers without Melo in 2012 and won 57 games (more than Melo ever won) in 2013. Then they unjustifiable fired George Karl, who had just won coach of the year, and Bryan Shaw ran that team into the ground.
      The Nuggets were never a legitimate contender with Melo. The Western conference finals appearance was a fluke. They got lucky with seeding (won the same number of games as 3rd seeded Spurs and 4th seeded Blazers, won only 1 more game than 5th seeded Rockets), which allowed them to avoid unfavorable matchups against Lakers and Spurs. They only had to beat the 7th seed and 6th seed en route to the conference finals and then lost to the same Lakers team they lost to the previous season.

      Lol Denver was never scary. They had that fluke season when they got lucky with the seeding (exact same record as the 3rd seed Spurs and 4th seed Blazers, won only 1 more game than 5th seed Rockets) and consequently avoided the most difficult matchups (Spurs and Lakers) in the first 2 rounds. They only had to beat the 7th and 6th seed and then lost to the same Lakers team they lost to the year before. They actually won even more games after Melo left. They came closer to beating the Lakers in 2012 without Melo and won 57 games in 2013 (more than they ever won with Melo), but only got the 3rd seed and drew a bad matchup (Warriors). They got upset and George Karl got fired.

    When an Athlete forces his way out, he's not thinking about the team or his current fan base, that's why fans boo. I mean, look at what the Nuggets got in return for Melo. Look at what the Rockets got back for Harden. Pennies to the dollar. When a team makes a trade, that IS for the betterment of the franchise which favors the fan base. Of, the reaction of the fans is obvious. Don't make it sense as if the players did nothing wrong to the fans. They did. They don't owe anything to the fans, but the fans don't owe them love either if the player decides to be selfish.

    I'm a huge Melo fan, but in Colorado we feel disrespected by him. We don't care that he choose to leave, what bothers us is that he has never really said that he was thankful for his time here. All he ever really talks about is about how much he could have won if he played somewhere else. We built good teams around him, but the West was just stacked with too many great teams, perhaps Nuggets could have won something if they played in the East instead.
    He had his chance to be the greatest Nugget ever, no question, but he took it for granted. Now there is someone taking over that spot and is even wearing is number.
