Carmelo Anthony, 10x All Star, 6x All NBA, and a member of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team which signified the 75 best players in the NBA ever. But if there is one thing that makes up a great player and a champion at that, is a mix of greatness, skill, and selflessness. And one of the main takes that I have that alot of people do not agree with is the fact I believe every shortcoming that was brought upon Carmelo Anthony, was due to mainly himself. And the main component that goes into his downfall as a player, starts in his time in the Big Apple, New York City. In this video I want to do a deep dive on the downfall of Carmelo Anthony and how he Ruined his Career with the New York Knicks.

Truly believe if Lin stayed in New York he would have had a great career trajectory. He might have cooled down after linsanity and not be a superstar but would have definitely been a great point guard for New York instead of guys like Felton, old Jose Colderon, Prigioni and so on. At least he won a ring as a consolation for Melo's ego.

One Iverson was that good and two they got well together cause they would party most nights so they got along off the court. When I said it was too late for Melo I was mainly referring to his age, it had finally caught up with him, I'm a Lakers fan and I appreciated the work and heart he brought to the team, but it was clear he wasn't in his prime. I never really said Lin was better than Melo, I even mentioned he probably wouldn't be a superstar had he stayed in New York, but with Lin and even former Knicks teammates saying Melo and other players like JR Smith had issues with Lins popularity says a lot. And even if Melo told Dan Toni to put Lin in which I doubt as in the documentary it was Dan Toni who decided to put Lin in after Iman Shumpert got injured playing PG (yes they where that bad). It's what Melo should have done after Lin got his stardom not before that rubs people the wrong way, instead of developing a relationship maybe similar (but not exactly) like Iverson than maybe they both could have succeeded together.

The knicks have a 8 game winning streak right now with the potential of becoming 14-1 in December 2022. It's because Randle sold into the idea to run the offense through the pg Jalen Brunson and use that energy he was giving on offense being the lead on defense. If Carmelo would have sold into the idea of running the offense through Jeremy Lin we might have won a championship. It's not that Lin was the better player but he was the better player to run the offense with. Same thing happened to him when he went to the Rockets. Harden should have let Lin and Chris Paul run the offense instead of wanting to take the ball. Who knows Harden might have had a championship if he would have given his pg the ball and stepped back.

I really hated the trade for Carmelo Anthony from Denver. Management and partly the fans (Who chanted "We want Melo") were too impatient with what we had. Knicks could have gotten him for nothing if they waited.

This video should be mandatory viewing for all Knicks fans who are just desperate to throw everything at say, Chicago, for the likes of Zach Levine. It is, frankly, incredible that Knicks management was seriously having those conversations, but one would think the fan-base would learn these lessons, eventually. In today’s NBA, you have to grow a team organically, mostly through sound draft picks. Then, you have to focus resources into their development. Current Knicks leadership hasn’t been perfect at this, but they have been far better than most franchises. Players take time to develop, and they have to be shown why the buy-in to team philosophy ultimately benefits them across the board. Right now, it’s working; Brunson is developing into a legit star and Randle has seemed to see the error in his ways. Quickley has gotten better year after year, and the Knicks were absolutely right not to squander Grimes in a lop-sided trade. They ARE going to have to trade some of these guys for a legit superstar, at some point, but fit is everything. I still don’t think Mitchell was THE ONE, and I believe the Cavs playoff fortunes will bear that out.

Melo messed up not doing 2 things. Either joining the Heat or waiting till he was a FA to then sign with NYK. As far as the Bulls go. D Rose never showed up to the meeting. Why go to a team when the star don’t want you there? As far as OKC goes. You’d expect a player he was literally a all star the year prior. #1 option on his team. To not be the 3rd option. But off the bench? How does tht sound? Stars have issues adjusting to the 2nd or 3rd option. Off the bench? Lol cmon.

Melo was asked, when he comes back from injury, (Mind you before Melo got hurt, they was destine to miss the playoff. J Lin carried NY to the playoffs, period) who is taking the last shot, he laughed and said me. @@Chris-tv1qz I already know you have a weak argument because you resorted to a personal attack. That is what limited minded people do when they have weak arguments. No, most great players say they want the ball in their hand to make the right play. At times, take the shot, at times set up the play. Case in point, MJ, how many game winning shots did he take that one 6 championships or to get them there. Do the research. MJ took every last shot before Phil re-coached him. That is when he started to win championships. Prior to that, he couldn't get passed the Pistons. On to Melo, they were out of the playoffs genius until Melo got injured. Go check the record of the Knicks and their playoff standing before and after Lin. Yep, 20 years ago, Melo got Denver into 1 conference final, oops, did I say 20 years ago, and oh, yeah, that's right, they loss. But your best argument is one playoff series 20 years ago makes him a winner, lol.. Yes, Melo had a great college career, led the Orange along with his coaches great zone defense that held teams under their avg, but congrats to the COLLEGE championship. Can we get back to his 20 year pro career which is the topic. What teammate has Melo ever made better? What year did Melo ever get more then 2 triple doubles his ENTIRE career? What year has Melo ever been on a 1, 2, or 3rd all defensive team? At what year has Melo ever avg. more then 3 assist per game? How many times has Melo been considered top 5 in voting for an MVP candidate? I can go on about points per avg in clutch time, leadership, etc. I think I've made my point on how dumb your sound. You don't know the game, you just know what you know. lol. Now, if you was smart, you'd answer my questions and prove me wrong, but you won't because it proves you have no clue. Blessings.

I think Lin made more sense to Houston than he did to any other team. Even a matched salary wouldn't compete w/ the deals in China that Houston could help him get. IF he lived up to the hype he had created. He still got a lot of that support, but he was a guy that opponents were able to gameplan against and he didn't have the tools to overcome the gaps in his game. He had a very respectable career, but NY keeping him wouldn't have changed anything and in the long run I think him moving on benefited both parties. He never would have gotten the chance to be Jeremy Lin in NY, it was always going to be Linsanity or bust.
In Portland, Melo was a model player. The players and staff spoke in his favor, saying that much of what people said about him before his time there wasn't what they experienced. Maybe the realizations came too late or maybe a coach that he drove to quit wasn't interested in entertaining a conversation with him since his skills were slipping. I definitely think Melo could still play in the league today, but he'd be eating a spot teams prefer to use for young guys that might develop into something some day. That 8th or 9th guy who comes in at the end of the 3rd, beginning of the 4th that tries to grow a lead or start a come back. He could probably still give someone a solid 8-12min a night. Its just, maybe he could be great in that role, but if you got a young guy you think could be a rotation guy in the future you want them getting that experience even if he's going to be less consistent. There have been guys like Josh Smith in his short stint with this Houston team that turned a series around after getting hot and started dropping 3s like someone else was wearing his body. A lot of championship teams have that type of guy in that role, but it could be bc they also tend not to have a lot of young guys.

Point blank you can't put pressure on a guy to win a championship when jr Smith is the second best player on the team and there's a super team around. Let's get real knicks fans.

I say this all da time Melo was a bad fit with the Knicks he was better off joining the Chicago Bulls in 2011 in free agency or in a sign and trade with Carlos Boozer

First of all, Melo is from Manhattan. That's his birthplace, grew up in Baltimore. He went home, he didn't go to New York for the lights and glamour.

Melo is one of many who had great scoring ability. Not many have been great 2 way players. Beside, there's no one player who has gotten to the finals alone or won the chip! As great as MJ / Lebron were, they never did it alone that's why Lebron continues to push for complementary players around him.
