I am not an expert by any means, but I think if they pay Ohtani when he's not playing for them they can avoid counting that 68M/yr towards the cap (thus allowing them to pay him and other players more in the long run since they are saving so much by not hitting cap).

Betting on yourself still isn't good for sport,how easy is it for the two fighters to get together and agree when and how the fight will be won and the winning fighter just places a huge bet on himself for both of them. Of course most fighters want to win but they also want a huge payday especially towards the end of their career or any time it is obvious they have no chance of being champion. Actually thinking about it even a young up and coming fighter could easily throw a fight knowing the odds are going to be huge but also knowing he/she has time to bounce back and continue their journey towards the belt. The only fighter that almost certainly wouldn't do this would be that rare fighter who is protecting a 100% winning streak.
If you were allowed gamble on yourself to win, you could just agree with the other fighter to give them a cut if they let you win.
