    Ohtani's contract is 10 years for $700 ($70M a year) but he's deferring ~97% of his salary ($68M a year) for 10 years so he'll "only" be paid $2M a year for the next 10 years (and only in 2034-2043 will be getting that $68M per year). I don't know, this doesn't sound like somebody with a multi-million dollar gambling problem to me (or maybe he's just gambling away all that lucrative New Balance money??).

      @hobokyle7504 Месяц назад +1

      @@oli.y I think it has something to do with MLB salary caps/luxury tax. If he agrees to a deferment, they can get more high value players without hitting salary cap and paying the luxury tax (to punish teams that try to "buy" a world series). I am not an expert by any means, but I think if they pay Ohtani when he's not playing for them they can avoid counting that 68M/yr towards the cap (thus allowing them to pay him and other players more in the long run since they are saving so much by not hitting cap).

Look at Fabia and how he got into Diego Sanchez's head. Even Tom Brady's guru Alex Guerrero is shady and i think used Tom. Betting on yourself still isn't good for sport,how easy is it for the two fighters to get together and agree when and how the fight will be won and the winning fighter just places a huge bet on himself for both of them. Of course most fighters want to win but they also want a huge payday especially towards the end of their career or any time it is obvious they have no chance of being champion. Actually thinking about it even a young up and coming fighter could easily throw a fight knowing the odds are going to be huge but also knowing he/she has time to bounce back and continue their journey towards the belt. The only fighter that almost certainly wouldn't do this would be that rare fighter who is protecting a 100% winning streak.
