    Mike, love the first two being from South Jersey and dealing with the ponds and lakes around here. I always tell friends " they are either suspended or, on the bottom." I love the drop shot and although I haven't had the success I had last year with it, it's still tied on with a 4" Zoom worm everyday. I also love the Ned Rig, specifically the ZMan TRD or Big TRD. I like the idea that they stand up, I think it attracts more attention than the standard Ned that just crawls across the bottom. My drop shot tip: after tying the Palomar knot on the hook, pull the knot "wad" down and through the hook eye if possible. The wad sitting on the bottom of the hook helps keep the hook more horizontal to the line. My TRD tip: After tying the lead head on, "rotate" the line knot to upward position. That would be the part of the jig eye closest to the hook. This will make the TRD stand up much better! I find myself doing it after almost every retrieve before casting again. Not much on weighted swim baits here but, the Zoom weightless Fluke works! Great stuff!

    When nose hooking a dropshot make sure you bring the hook through the bottom and out through the nose. Will give you full movement of your bait without the spin

    • @robertbrost7777
      @robertbrost7777 Год назад

      While I agree with the lesser line twist, I find that more baits fly off during the cast and that the hookup ratio is less with that type of nose hooking. JMHO

    • @robertbrost7777
      @robertbrost7777 Год назад

      I use it all year long up here in the NE. It's always tied on. I watch power fishermen come and go all day while I play with my Ned Rig nice and slow. They aren't willing to put in the time or slow down enough to catch a fish. They'd rather stay for 15 minutes, make multiple casts and fast retrieves and go home and tell their friends the fish aren't biting today. Haha

    Been wanting to try the drop shot presentation. I use weedless hooks for wacky style with the wire that loops and hooks into the point of the hook. Would this hook work well to nose hook a worm for a drop shot?

    Mike i know this was done awhile ago but have you thought of doing a Livestream once in awhile? You should be able to activate donations to your channel and you could hse that to add to the funding of your amazing program. You can ask for questions to be sent in a month ahead of time, then answer some of them, but maybe take half the questions from your live audience. Love your show and even my wife enjoys listening to your story!!

    I don't use jighead that much when I fish from the riverbank. What would be the safest jighead size for river current. Slow to medium current depending on the tide going out or in from the Bay of Fundy to Fredericton of the Saint John River.

    • @rkdheewon
      @rkdheewon Год назад +1

      The weight of the jig head depends on the speed of the current, lure size, lure type, and how fast/slow you want your lure to move. You need to experiment on your own with the lures you want to use. First try them where you can clearly see the lure. See how fast it falls amd how slow you are reel while maintaining same depth.

      @@bobjohnston5527 on a side note, I use a 2 inch paddle tail swimbait on a 1/16oz jig head when there is almost no current, but also use the same setup when I want the bait to kinda fall slowly and follow the flow of the water. So try different setups and different presentations one by one :)
