Have a ripmo and before shorter travel bikes. One thing I found with short travel bikes is if you’re heavier guy like 95kg / 200lbs the shorter travel forks just feel a bit flexy and bottom out. They can’t seem to keep up, even on mellow trails I could feel it.
Did you ever get a chance to ride an XL Exie? Curious as I too am 6’2 and my current bike (140mm trail bike) has a 500mm reach so I’m also concerned about the 519 of the XL.?!
Awesome review. I totally understand your love of the Ripley over the Ripmo. I just got a Ripley AF, and for some reason I'm loving it way more than my Ripmo. It's light and nimble, and it can still shred all my SoCal trails (Telonics and Art School). I love these Ibis bikes!🤙😎👍
Shaun is great! I heard about them online on Monday. Talked to Shaun on Tuesday and my new Ripmo frame showed up to my door on Thursday. He even threw in some small parts like a BB and headset. They are a class operation for sure! They also have quite a bit in stock right now...
Ripley isn't all that on flat rolling terrain. Kinda wears you out a little faster. Ibis mentioned this in their description on Pinkbike. Did they fix that with this bike ?
Great, a review of another ibis bike that will be impossible to actually ever buy. Was on a waitlist for a ripmo af for 5 months and was told at that point that would likely be another 4-5 at least til i might maybe get one.
In summary if you want an Ibis just buy the Ripley…. But cool bike and nice review. I expect Ibis is going to take what it learns and make an even better 24 lb Ripley. The seat tube angle differences in each size on the Exie, while maybe logical, is going to be confusing to the market imo…. But maybe not since it is going to be so niche … more so than even the s works epic evo… which is the only real competitor to this for capability, weight… and being crazy expensive
@@fattie2550 twin lock certainly seems like a plus, but the rest is a combination of debatable and marketing. Enclosing the rear sus isn’t necessarily better, it’s just different. For me, I absolutely love the look and thought that went into integration. Again, the Spark is what I’m looking at, but I’m skeptical that it’s leaps and bounds beyond the Ripley.
I have to be honest. I got one of these Exie bikes, I love it, but I wish it had AXS. The XTR might be great, but I still much prefer the crisp shifts of the AXS system, The dropper is also a total mess. I wish it had the AXS dropper too.
Bike seems cool and fun but i find the conversation around having multiple $5,000 bikes (this one starting at $8,000) pretty absurd and not relatable. Seems the boring equation is most people should buy a Ripley (AF) and if your area has more gnarly things or park interests you then Ripmo (AF). If you are into XC racing then drop $8k on an Exie.
I have been watching your videos for quite some time, years, and enjoy the two of you. This is absolutely the worst video that you have ever done! Dude, relax, chill and speak to us, your so nervous that the entire 18 minutes is junk. Looking forward to the next relaxed, dude I live in a van review of a bike.
$4500 for the frame alone. Ugh. Otherwise, you don't need to yell. And all that riding footage in the beginning is kind of annoying because it's not technically evaluative, its just emotional response. Just some feedback.
If you get into reviews, adding a bike weigh-in on a scale at the end will certainly attract more people!
Will try to do that!!!
@@awesomemtbtips there is no try. Only do.
That is my dream bike. Currently on a Ripley. Thanks for the review!
Thanks for watching!!!
Do you race xc?
Will you only run one mtb, road bikes excluded?

Totally understand! But there is a lot of awesome forks out right now that are super stiff! I’m in the same hot I weight about 200lbs! -Mo
@@awesomemtbtips what fork do u have in mind for a heavier rider wanting a ripley
Fox Forks can handle up to 250 riders. Use proper sag and just add some tokens…

Is This bike equal to Transition Spur and YT Izzo? Like is it Made for same type of riding?

Did you ever decide if you were sticking with L or going XL? I"m 6-1 and trying to decide which size to buy.

Nice assessment, what size is Shaun’s Exie? Cheers 🥂
It’s a Large
Size large!
Would you say this bike is a little bit more bent over then the 2017 Ripley. The way the cockpit feels.
Does anyone know if you can have 180mm rotors in the rear?
Starting price of 8k it better be the greatest bike of all time!
LOL
Is this replacing the DV9 ht?

So glad you didn't kill the bike on the wall ride... 🤣😂
😂😂😂

Why did they get rid of the DV-9???
On the site, says materials ran out. And will come back in 2022
@@Jacob99174 thank you
That bike is Shaun's bike at N+1 bikes, its not Moe's bike. Its a Large.
If u only can keep 2 bikes at a time…. Since u got a ripmo already. Which bike would u keep?! Ur hakka, ripley or exie?????!..
Ibis has nothing on the new 2022 Scott Spark RC. Same Geometry too.
Need to check it out
I’ve been looking at the Spark but if it’s the same geo why does it matter?
@@GiovaniUrrutia internal rear shock. Faster bike, lighter bike, better builds, twin lock, I can keep on going if you would like.

"quiver" threshold for the decade reached.
Lol
I just realized by the thumbnail where you did the test ride.... wished i had watched sooner
Review the Hakka Mx!
Hopefully soon!!!!
4 k more than a Ripley AF with SLX drivetrain, hard to believe a little better ride is worth 4k but hey what do I know.
The Ripley is an awesome bike for sure!!!
Shimano XT is so good

That bike looks like a 26er in front of you, maybe it’s the camera angle 📐
Why are you using flats and a xc race bike??

True! Lucky for us a lot of awesome options right now!!!
Exie is a race bike! Otherwise. I would ride the Ripley.
Starts at 8 grand thooooo.... wow.
Yo! What An awesome video dude! Very informative and entertaining!👍 Thank You from me and my Channel (Sana Bibi MTB)❤️🏴❤️

$$$Made in the USA$$$$
I mean it’s cool numbers and all but tbh looks like a 2012 bike 😂 it’s pretty ugly
Your stem is ridiculous. You totally misunderstood the progressive reach of the Exie. Sad.
