Nadal looks surprisingly good so far. De Minaur is a top 10 player in the last half of a year and Nadal looks better so far in the first set. If he stays healthy he definitely can make some noise the rest of the clay court season

He's out of match practice but one of these is a new top 10ner and the other is a perennial top 3 player and one of the top 3 or 5 greatest of all time and the greatest on clay. Yeah even when out of match practice and fitness Nadal is a tough player. Didn't he beat rublev like 6-1 in their practice set?
Well yes, but that was to be expected. He just had 1 game on clay and this is the second against a very in-form player. He has to get matches under his belt to be again at a level. But I don’t expect him to win anything, just to say goodbye in the best way possible
For the first match back, Nadal looks pretty good. Needs a little court time but if healthy, he still has it

Rafa's game is much better than I expected. He needs many more competitions, go for Madrid and Rome, both will be good for him, it was an excellent start for a guy with two years of nothing, one major surgery and 37 years of age

Badly needs matches. Glimpses of form but the collapse in the 2nd set was worrying . 7-5 6-4 would have been more encouraging
Nadals forehands were crunching in this match but Alex played absolutely top tier on the backhand depth, counterpunch game, and a disingenuous mix of drop shots but thats mamba mentality.. but rafa is still a joy to watch he proved his meddle this match if he can only build up a little steam in any tourny he has a punchers chance or better... maybe the match could have been closer but it was of a high quality nonetheless..
