Thanks for this valuable info. Both of the mirrors on my 2019 1500 stopped working, (they just clicked). By following this video, I was able to install new metal gears on both mirrors. Cutting open the plastic motor housing takes patience but is not hard at all. After digging all the plastic shrapnel out of the motor housings, I used a few dabs of white lithium grease on the new metal gears. I used JB Weld PlasticWeld instead of the Marine version to seal the motor housing. This job took about 1 hour per side (not counting cure time) and is relatively easy if you use this video as a guide. Both mirrors now fold in and out like new! 😀
Thanks very much for the vid! I just did the passenger side mirror. It was a bitch of a job IMO. Lots of little details to keep in play. Took me about 4 hours of work time. BUT the mirror works great now, smooth and solid!!!!
Traded that truck into my dealer earlier this year for a Porsche Macan. Couldn't resist since I got more than I paid for it and the four wheel drive Porsche works much better in the Colorado Springs mountainous, often snowy terrain. We didn't finalize the fix, but did share what we'd done with the dealer. They were not impressed, natch.
So did you end up getting this fixed? And what was it doing to cause the repair? Our ram when you extend the mirror out it’s trying to go past the limiter
Mirror would fold in with any wind. Gruven is good about communicating if you have questions. Haven't had a chance to fix, but mirrors works every once in a while and it worked fine before we put the housing back on, so the part itself is working.
@@thecreativenow - thanks for the vid. I picked up on the issue (I think) at about 14:32 of the vid, when you're holding the housing, and the base seems to be loose from the arm. That powerful spring should be holding down a detent of some sort, and perhaps yours was broken. On my housing, those two parts would not move, unless I mounted the housing back onto the truck and then gently used large pliers to move the arm forward and back.
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP! My power folding mirror on my passenger side will not work. I just bought a used Ram from a Chrysler dealer that's in really good shape but I realized after a week of having it that the passenger mirror will not work. I also noticed that the mirror is a little loose and when driving it shakes a bit.
2020 Ram 1500 Bighorn: The electrical connector for the mirror glass adjustment is held in by metal tabs on the metal arm. You have to remove the T10 screw from the center of the mirror glass adjuster unit, may have to pry gently on the three tabs (from the back) at the 10, 2, & 6 position. Pull the adjuster unit out, unplug the connector (no tab). You can leave it off until later or put the screw back in a couple of threads to hold it until you're ready to plug it back in. Hope this helps someone.

Thank you very much for the feedback. It helps everyone.
Thanks so much for the good feedback!

Glad it worked for you
What kind of grease did you use in the actual motor?
What is that part called that's under the turn signal that you popped out and the puddle lamp is under neath it?
Thanks for making this video
I just ordered
Glad to be helpful.
Great video!
It's frustrating how Dodge made good mirrors but decided to use frail plastic gearing.
It's not just my truck either. Same problem plagues the Promaster Vans.
yes, & it's $750 to replace each mirror but this is a lot of work!
I own 2019 Ram 1500 Bighorn with both mirrors ticking and grinding bad now. Im need kit for both side are they available?
paul@gruvenparts.com can help answer your questions accurately.
Can we have an update video ?

@@thecreativenow An updated video would have been nice, but this video is more than helpful. Thanks!
Both my mirrors work intermittently. Is that the main symptomM wondering why one problematic gear would prevent both from operating correctly.
If it helps, there is a gear for each mirror.
Ever make an update?
Traded in the truck before we got around to it.

where did you getthe kit ornewgeara
I put the link on Gruven to these gears in the video comments.
Does the gear set also come with the large plastic ring you replaced
Use the email address above to ask Paul at Gruven. He is responsive.
Would you happen to have a link to this part??

Can this same process be used for 4th gen tow mirrors?
Just make sure you order the part on their site that matches.

Take it back to the dealer you brought it from. It's near impossible to diagnose this based on a post

thank you for the added advice.
My local dealer wants $2500 to replace the mirrors. I'll try this or do without the folding mirror before I pay $2500.
