Thanks for the video. It showed me how to get the whole thing apart, which is exactly what I needed. I will be replacing the plastic gear with the brass replacement.
Good video! I installed the brass gears from Gruven several years ago and they work great. I just had to replace the glass on one of my mirrors and had hell getting it apart, even though I've done it several times before. Be careful, these things are getting old and the plastic is getting brittle. I broke a couple of tabs, even when using plastic body tools.
I really like the improvised compression tool! I had to replace the motor on our 2011 Suburban a few years ago. Wanted to make sure that the process was similar for my 2015 Silverado. Thanks for the video.
I have a 2011 enclave i picked up at auction the other day. So, everything is a mystery at this point. It wanted air in the tires. Turned out the rear left and right were transposed. Think that can be sorted out with an obd2 tool? This afternoon, I was testing the ride with tires inflated to where the enclave was happy and not telling me about it on the dash. The left mirror stopped power out process. The process you used is probably the same I will run into as I work on this after getting tag and title on. BTW, this driver side mirror has a smoky tint to the surface of the mirror like it may have set too close almost too long to another car burning down. So, it could be the plastic gears were close to catastrophe when the transport dropped it off in my driveway. It acts like there is a hangup in the motor gear. It tries to move but fails. Thanks again for going to the trouble to make the video. I see your less than 1000 subs. I will ad you in and hit a like on your video. I am in the same boat, about halfway to getting the revenue sharing turned back on. The toobs has no problem with showing my videos with ads. just not paying. It even cut off owing me 98 bucks so they would not have to ship that final hundred bucks. Oh well thats YT for ya.
At about the 3:26 point in your video you are holding the mirror position actuator with the mirror detached. How did you detach the mirror from the actuator?
I am trying to work on the puddle light. I want to change it with something else. I looked and looked for something that would give me like a exploded or engineered drawing. I couldn’t find anything. Now that I have it taken apart. (Getting the pieces of the mirror body to separate) I find this video. I’ve been out there for hours trying not to break anything. Now if I can get my idea light installed and it all back together. The driver side should be a little faster, Thanks I don’t know why your video didn’t come up sooner.
Great video and very informative...! I have a 07 Ext Escalade and the mirror on the drivers side will fold in and out and the adjustment on the right to left works however the adjustment on the up and does nothing... any ideas?
I have a question did you go with the metal gear or did you go with the plastic gear because the same thing happened to my truck same side I just want to know if you want with a plastic gear or a metal gear?
if you just replace the plastic part with a metal gear youll short the motor out. either replace the motor with the Gruven motor (wont short out on the metal gear) AND their gear and have one thatll never break, or just replace with plastic

Well I got it all apart. But my idea didn't work. Not enough room inside the mirror.

I need my drivers side mirror fixed. It’s stuck in the folded position. Who wants to fix it??
I would just try pulling it back out manually...
Holy 💩 I was told the gear change was minutes. Looks easy but tedious
