Fun fact, the hornet dies of overheating and lack of oxygen. The bees are generating heat, not stinging. They are vibrating closely together. It's called thermal balling.
It’s a little more than that. The hornet’s body temperature has a hard limit on how hot it can get. The Japanese honeybees shown here have evolved to be *one* degree more tolerant than the hornet’s.
You should cheer for the bees. They pollinate fruits and vegetables, and make honey. I've had them crawl on my hand just checking me out. Totally cool gentle bees. But don't f with the hive - cause the hive comes ALIVE ♡
Everyone says friendship prevails, but unfortunately even when a single hornet dies it only takes about 20 more to wipe the colony. They often only get a scout or two before the raiding party realizes they’re in their territory and picks the nest apart
For those who might not know it's actually brutal what happens to the wasp when the bees swarm it like this. They completely cover it and flap their wings so much so, that the wasp is essentially cooked alive. Might be slightly off on some nuance but it's bad ass.
Someone said that the hornet can withstand such degree, but the honeybees evolved to be able to heat 1°C more than the hornet's tolerance. That is SICK
For the unaware: The bees can survive 1 degree Fahrenheit more heat than hornets, so they cover it up and move so much they essentially cook its insides.

They all rapidly vibrate their wing muscles and essentially shiver to create the heat. The temperature can reach 117°F/46°C. They also increase the level of carbon dioxide inside the bee ball. They really are amazing and fascinating creatures.

That is totally correct

Fun fact. They're not stinging the hornet. They surround it as much as possible, then raise their body temperatures. Long story short, They're pretty much cooking it alive
You're absolutely right ✅️
yum..?
Bees show their love to the hornet by hugging it. This is so cute😊

Genuinely don’t think I’ve ever seen anything so satisfying
I didn't spot a stinger on the hornet so it's probably a male. And he's getting roasted to death by a bunch of ladies.
What about that recent United Healthcare CEO killing?
I love honey bees. They come snack at my hummingbird feeder. I love them. They help eachother - I've seen them try to help their friends who are in trouble - pulling them out of mud or water. I've had them crawl on my hand just checking me out. Totally cool gentle bees. But don't f with the hive - cause the hive comes ALIVE ♡
That hornet was bold af pulling up to their house as if he wasn’t finna get jumped 😂

Japanese honey bees have evolved an effective behavior strategy to defend against the giant hornets.
They have used this technique to kill their queen, who no longer lays eggs. Apparently, it works also on Sicualpathic size murder hornets😮

Everyone says friendship prevails, but unfortunately even when a single hornet dies it only takes about 20 more to wipe the colony. They often only get a scout or two before the raiding party realizes they’re in their territory and picks the nest apart
The spiders under the nest: "Damn, another barbequed wasp! Lucky me!!!"
Symbiotic relationship, bees get bouncers, spiders get munchies
😂😂😂😂😂
For those who might not know it's actually brutal what happens to the wasp when the bees swarm it like this. They completely cover it and flap their wings so much so, that the wasp is essentially cooked alive. Might be slightly off on some nuance but it's bad ass.
Yep. And it’s even more brutal because it’s a non hive scenario. So it took longer to raise the temperature to his killing point. Absolutely wicked.
Are you expecting us to take pity on the hornet? 😂
I mean it was asking for it.
Someone said that the hornet can withstand such degree, but the honeybees evolved to be able to heat 1°C more than the hornet's tolerance. That is SICK
😮 gracias 😊

For the unaware: The bees can survive 1 degree Fahrenheit more heat than hornets, so they cover it up and move so much they essentially cook its insides.
Giant Hornet: Come at me noobs!!!
Honeybees: Aight!
Giant Hornet: Aaaaahhhhh not all at once!!!!
😂😂
The one little bee grabbing the hornets back foot was so brave (but also so cute 😊)
It’s so crazy. They vibrate exactly 1 degree temperature more than the wasp can survive but they evolved to survive. There’s a Japanese yellow wasp that has the same defense as well. I think it’s a difference if 117 f to 118 f
Can’t they bite? Also don’t they have stingers? I’m guessing they just can’t penetrate the armor.
@@ryanfork8247A sting means a death, they can’t afford to sting and lose workers every time they’re threatened, so they evolved a better strategy to deal with one of their major predators. Since now they can just barely survive the heat they generate from swarming the wasp, they’re more likely to lose less workers.
@@bloob8173 Bees' stingers don't get dismembered universally, though. I'm pretty sure the elastic nature of our skin layer is what prompts such a "sacrifice". Besides that, I'd assume stings are incapable of piercing hornets' exoskeletons.
