i love this makishima was my favorite character out of any anime so far and normally i hate it when my favorite character dies but this death seemed so in place like it needed to happen to drive his point it happened so smoothly and appropriately and was accepted with open arms, hes a character that was at peace with what he did unlike most other villains who go regretfully but makishima was just like yeah my times up im done here, replace me like everyone else gets replaced and then bang it was so flawless
He's my fave character too! It's sad since S2 is a disaster, villain in S2 and in the movie can't even compare to Makishima. Idk why the main writer for this show abandoned this project :/ Like you've created an awesome utopian-like dystopian concept of a society and created amaze balls characters... Reminds me of the good anime/mangas where authors are always in hiatus ehem, HxH and Berserk... Idk if they'll even complete them since they're old...
@@pumpernickel1955 He is both, he did some really bad stuff, but I do think he should be in the category of anti-villain, not full blown one, bc of exactly his idealism, his motives weren't entirely selfish and the Sybil system is the real full villain of the series.
Bach, Mozart, then hint of Liszt and Schumann. Main theme returns, and ends with Chopin. All in all, this is one of the best piano pieces in OST I have come across. It aptly conveys Markshima's acceptance of his fate..
Koiden I agree with Makishima's ideals and ultimate goals, but I disagree with the methods in which he reached that point. Most notably teasing Akane before murdering her best friend (granted it is kinda Akane's fault).
That ending gave this anime an A+ rating from me. I don't know how they'll do a new season without Makishima though. The rivalry between him and Kogami was almost reminiscent of that of L and Light in a weird way.
I know right? beautiful rivalry. that point in the plot twist where kagari died. I really didn't know who was the main antagonist at that point. everything became scattered and unsure (in a good way). This anime is a true piece of art, makes me want to read Shakespeare and other literature. The ending was a perfect conclusion to the season. I truly hope the second season is made well enough and possibly on par with the first.
I literally just finished watching the episode and the soundtrack added such an eccentric vibe to the scene. Also it really fits Makishima's character (when he was reminiscing his own twisted ideology) and the way he made all of us question our morality at some point of the show.
This song is strangely so upbeat in contrast to the scene that was playing out. This reminds me of another episode where, while Makishima (or one of his underlings) was murdering someone, Ode of Joy was playing. I just love how Makishima's passion for literature can be seen in not only the music but with the things he carry with him and the items he eat.
OMG, play this at the same time with the Psycho Pass OST Symphony, just put BOTH of these tracks on any random mark AND IT STILL SOUND SYNCHRONIZED AF!
is it normal that ALL my favourite characters die!!?? I mean...first Kagari and then Shogo?? And those from Psycho Pass are just examples, its not even funny anymore man how all of them die or become evil x( SHOGOOO D'''':
All of the tragedy added to the plot and to the atmosphere in a great way, so I don't have any problem with this. Kagari started suspicion by the inspectors and enforcers into Sibyl, Masaoka died attempting to protect his son Ginoza (a major, if nearly at the end, bit of character progression for the latter), and Makishima himself was what Kogami lived for the chance to kill - and a brilliant bastard who gambled and lost in his games.
@@echomjp I mean Kagari could be explored some more before he got killed, like he was a latent criminal at age 5??? Makishima had clear motives and Kogami's just plain revenge, he doesn't even like serving Sibyl so he's kind of chaotic. I just hope future Psycho Pass seasons will have a better villain than Shogo if they want to keep it interesting. Villains in S2 and in the movie can't even compare to Shogo... Maybe even turn Kogami into an anti-hero or some sort.
Though his actions are agonising to most, he was not truly a villain. A necessary evil versus yet another necessary evil(Sibyl system.) Although I say necessary evil, this is not truly the case. They’re both beyond blanket terms like good or evil, attempting to bring some measure of order to society in entirely contradicting ways, Shepard’s will tend to sheep via their own methods-often unintelligible to most humans. Shogo’s chapter may have concluded-though his tale lives on long after his death, he was an antagonist-yet also a protagonist in his own right. His methods and morals are not truly understood by most, he would likely quote Shakespeare and say “..and touching now the point of human skill, reason is now the marshal to my will.” Or a riposte of similar stature. There are so few characters in any sort of story that are truly meaningful in a much deeper sense, living long beyond the end of the story. Shogo is one of them. Requiescat en pace, if only I could have read your book.
He accomplished his mission in life - I could see him either living the rest of his life on the run in relative peace, or trying something big to give his life new meaning - though he would never become a villain of the same type as Makishima. I could see him being disgusted by the very prospect of that. Though hopefully in the second season he shows up, I'm more looking forward to the actions of the inspectors and enforcers as they are right now.

The makushima-kogami rivalry is one of the best ever put on screen. I can't stop coming back to this story. Absolutely gripping.
Well thats also because he was not a villain but an idealist one can only admire

You'd never guess that this was a death theme just listening to it, it sounds so upbeat, but it was perfect in the final episode.
+Madeline Honig fits makishimas schizophrenic and emotionless personality perfectly.

It is not a death theme, it's a TRAVEL theme.

If Makishima and Kougami lived in our time they would have spent their time discussing continental philosophy with each other at the university.
Just a note, the piece is actually called 楽園 (Rakuen) on the Psycho-Pass soundtrack.

Nick Santa ana You need to listen to some more Bach.
Raptor Jesus True LOL, I'm actually studying his inventions right now though xD
It sounds so happy with a tinge of anarchy.. so carefree that you can imagine the character/villain (Makishima in this case) relishing the chaos.
Anarchy? what
this is written in very strict form
People see him as the vilain but if you think about it the Sibyl System is so wrong.
Koiden I agree with Makishima in that Sybil should be eliminated, but his methods were wrong.
More like an anti-villain.
how the right system then? Democracy? Communism? Don't make me laugh..
Koiden I agree with Makishima's ideals and ultimate goals, but I disagree with the methods in which he reached that point. Most notably teasing Akane before murdering her best friend (granted it is kinda Akane's fault).
Koiden And as a side note, while I obviously disagree with the Sibyl System as a whole, there definitely aren't many other viable options.
