NO QUARTER/LED ZEPPELIN/DRUM COVER

- No Quarter was pretty much the song that hooked me on Led Zeppelin. I was already familiar with their hits like Rock and Roll, WLL, Stairway...but I remember being mesmerized the first time I heard NQ, which was when my dad took me to see The Song Remains The Same at The Carnegie Theater in Chicago in 1978. I went home and immediately searched for which album had that song! I found my dads copy of Houses of The Holy and played it over and over. That was it...goodbye Kiss Army, hello Zeppelin!!
This groove is 100% classic Bonzo with a slightly swung feel, lots of ghosting, and irregularly placed fills. If you've never heard the outtakes from this session, check them out. The sound of his kit is different than on the final mix and sounds incredible! Also, he plays some really inventive, different fills on the other run throughs.
I extended the ending for a while , just to add some different bits ala Bonzo. I think the drum mix was a little too hot this time but, oh well...hope you dig it anyway. Thanks for all your continued support and interest in this channel.
Please follow The People's Front Of Zeppelin as well.

It doesn’t get any better than this! Brilliant playing and the drums sound perfect.
Your ghost notes are perfect. Great playing brother
Appreciate that, thanks!
My all-time favorite song of all time!!!!!! 😜
That fill at the 3:54 then to come back on the down beat,WOW!!!!!
I think the best thing about this is the hi-hat which is closed all the way. Style.
Exactly! Subtle playing between the snare and bass drum. The hi-hat adds a gliding feel very typical of Bonzo.
Also thanks for the extra drumming after the fade! Very tasty-and then the live version cymbal bell taps. I kept waiting for the :” WE’VE DONE FOUR ALREADY......”
Such an amazing masterpiece, and when The Sorcerer kicks in with that fuzz guitar, pretty much defined the '70's, IMO
Those 60s giant beats are just so beautiful.
MAMA THERE GOES THAT SNARE DAAAAAAMMM. First time time I heard a snare that made my jaw drop
KILLER video & overhead cam!!! As usual Thanks for sharing and teaching me this song...I have been having probs...with the syncopation part. Thanks for sharing again GEORGE...GOD BLESS YOU BRO. 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
The riffing at the end is the best part but that hi-hat work at 1:50 is true genius Bonham. I think we have similar Ludwig kick drums. Always enjoy your covers.
The transition was true Bonham essence
Great job, that first fill gave me nightmares, i couldn't get the feel right. Love the grooving at the end. Houses of the Holy was the first Zep Album I had. I saw some bits of the Danish TV in a documentary about rock and I was really impressed so I went to find any record I could, No quarter and the ocean intermediately hooked me.
Thank you!
The best cover of that song on RUclips ! The spirit and soul of Bonzo !
Way to rock it in the pocket George! Give my best to Terry, hope he's healing up well...
Matt Cox Thanks Matt!
First time I heard a true drum cover of this and included the ghost notes correctly... perfect thank you
One of my favs!
Awsome playing George....i would also have to agree that this is classic bonham town, its just a solid groove, thats the trademark sound of bonzo 100%,and how he counter sync with the song is also classic.
👍🏼😊
My first hearing Zeppelin was the SRTS album. The original version of No Quarter heard on the first LP is what did it for me as well. The part where Bonham and Page are starting to marry up and Bonham plays such a simple but AWESOME fill where he incorporates the high hat kind of as a ghost note before going off on open/closed high hat and he and Jimmy go to town. You know, the part that was edited out for the movie and Page releasing the latest remaster..........
man your awsome!
I’ve often wondered if the jump from 8ths to 16ths around the 1:52 is an edit...
As always G- OUTSTANDING. Plus the GBs are golden!!!!
Thanks Terry. Could be, because there were many takes which you can hear some of the outtakes, and he was playing differently .
Damn, that was sooooo cool but Iwish I could have heard it all as Im learning keyboards. thanks.
you should do a video on bonham's right foot technique
Thank you George.....you’re An absolute awesome resource for learning Bonzo style drumming!
Lol terry I meant one single stroke followed by one double stroke or a triplet pattern .but thanks for helping me figure out the beginning fill pattern . Again great work.
Captured that feel seamlessly
Excellent work terry, I thought the beginning fill was one double stroke note followed by one single note , a triplet around the set if you will.but you figured it out and that’s definitely the right fill. THANKS brother for showing me the correct fill. I have good ears but some fill patterns can be tricky by just listening to. So thanks again .
He's George Fludas, not Terry😂
hello again a beautiful performance, very good demonstration of john bonam especially no quarter bold, clear fluid simple that serious groove and especially what presence of these huge pieces a real mammoth, I love bonam my biggest influence a real pleasure all these Pieces interpreted perfectly thank you I do not live in the state worsening good weekend
Fantastic as usual.
Every once in a while, you see folks online say Bonham wasn't that good. Those same people are certifiably insane.
Heck yeah! And thank you for the tip to check out the outtakes of the song. I have not heard them and I can't wait to check them out!!!
The basso nova style version is beyond awesome!!! Freaking killer!!!!!
Loved it! Got right to the drumming without all the talking. Thanks
Love the sound of that ride cymbal
Damn George, what the hell !!! A marvel of bonham drumming science. Rock on brother.....
Thank you
Aaron
Thanks Aaron. 👊🏼
I love it! thanks!
Awesome as always, George!! I’ve always loved the snare sound on the no quarter studio version.
Amazing groove, makes me want to grab my electric guitar and jam to this
Wonderful. I love the drumming in No Quarter, especially during the intro and you play it so very well. That's really good, thank you.
awesome 👏🏼
Another great job George! In my top 3 favorites. I reeeeally like the live version. Been trying to play live version correctly for past couple days. Have been referring to yours. So thanks again for that also.
Thanks Mark! The way he played it live is some of my all time favorite drumming of his. Actually the whole band!
@@BONHAMOLOGY same here . pages greatest solo. everyone just dialed in like never before
Thanks George I was calling you terry because I watch the both of you guys lol sorry but thanks for showing the correct beginning fill pattern great work George .
Ha, all good! Thank you.
Bonzo has a palpable drive behind his notes....You can feel the drive of his will, pushing, as it were, the notes forth. Or sometimes pulling them. I don't know if you know what I mean, but that's what I feel.
the different paced drums in ghe break and the verse just controls the whole vibe, goes so well with page's riff as well its unbeleivable, the crazy part is he stil found a way to make it this unique
just killer
Wow! Sounds just like the record! GREAT job George!
Thank you , Bill!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
The song is a masterpiece and you did a fine job as well!
Just got a kit to mess around on, never had lessons. I tap out drum rhythms with my teeth! I've worn them down significantly this way. Anyway, thought I'd try to do NQ on the drums--not. Half of this stuff I can't even do. But I might do a Suzuki-method copying your drums here. Great visuals, really captures most all of what is going on in the song. Thank you...Get it? "THANK YOU"?
Sounding great George!
Great cover Terry and good going on the camera angles.
Thanks, but my name is George. 😁👋🏼
BONZOLOGY with Terry & George
Well I should have stated “Terry & George “ as there is nothing on the video Description as to which one of you two is playing.
Your single strokes on the snare sound just as Bonham's. Great playing !
FUCKING AWESOME
Super
i’m waiting FOR THE PFOZ COVER OF NQ
On the actual track, with Bonham playing, around 5:30-45ish does anyone else think he kinda slows his pace then speeds up to kinda catch up and then they’re just back on track…
This is from their best of collection, but I’m pretty sure that’s the same track that’s on Houses of the Holy.
The 2:55 lick and the 4:55 lick. Tasty.
John Bonham would be proud.
Great playing! Request for walters walk?
I did it already, its posted here. Thanks.
Hi! Great job and sounding! One doubt are drumming through a click? or just taking the pulse above the song?
Thanks. No click, just playing along to the album.
Does anyone know anything about where I can find a kit like this. I think I just fell in love that sound
👍👋
Hi, Is the 24 inch 2002 ride still available?
Sorry. No , it is not.
you made a video explaining the method of how to tune the snare drum like john bonam, with one of your drummer friend
I bet he won't let us see his face because ...... is in fact John Bonham himself!!!
Man this is difficult.
See, I don't syncopate it like that. Funny how two people can hear two different things on the same recording. Spot on though, what is that left hand crash you're using?
It's the vintage old Giant Beat 18, same like Bonzo used early on. I think he used them on the original recording. Sounds very similar.
@@BONHAMOLOGY Sounds perfect, just I'm afraid of how thin the giant beats are so I went all 2002s instead.
bonjour
désolé encore pour la traduction de français en anglais qui est faite par une machine ça ne traduit pas vraiment comme il faut mes bon voila
You should just let the whole song play man
Couple reasons I don't think that's a good idea. There are much better ways to hear the song if you want, than my low res mp3 upload. This is a drum demo, so its not necessary to hear all the drumless parts of every song, it's pointless. Also, I have had issues with videos being blocked because the song is recognized by RUclips's copyright scanning robots, so I think it's best that I don't have extended parts of the song without my drums obscuring the original track. You dig?
@@BONHAMOLOGY lol I dig
