True... I would have traded my old RE 301 for the RE 20 I have now.. And can probally find someone to trade my RE20 for one of these once people start Vintaging the original emulation unit haha
Wow. Thanks for inlocking sone of the functions such as different reverbs and where to place the pre-amp! Very halpful. I'm convinced the 202 is more what I'm looking for beyond the (also amazing and compact) RE-2.
In all the sound samples I’ve heard of this unit my fav thing is how it has that natural ducking delay like the old units had- it can get nasty but never disgusting
I have original Re-200 and Re-301. I really enjoyed this video. I think they captured a lot of the sounds really well. Wish it had a chorus and reverb that could be switched on and off. Very cool sounds though!!
The only thing stereo about it is the reverb. The heads don't pan so somewhat pointless making it stereo in the first place. I'll stick with the Volante
First I get the RE-20, then the Volante, now I have to get my hands on this!!! When will it end??? Also the price RE-20 250$ Volante 400$ Re-202 600$ in my country.
Check the manual. Boss has pdf's on their site. I expect this to be possible. Most small boss pedals already have this. Would be a massive oversight at this point to not have it.
You hold down Tap button while powering up to access extra functions, was mentioned in another demo I saw, download the manual if you want to go in-depth
Here you go Press and hold down the [TAP] switch, and turn on the power. Turn the [MODE SELECTOR] knob to the “12” setting. Use the [MEMORY] button to select the reverb type. MEMORY indicators Reverb type MANUAL RE-201 SPRING 1 HALL 2 PLATE 3 ROOM 4 AMBIENCE Press the [TAP] switch to exit the settings.
There’s a mode on the originals that is reverb only. Also can just turn the echo volume down. Later versions also had switches for the different effects.
Sounds very digital to me, the saturation sounds bad on the repeats and I got the impression that the reverbs sounds more accurate than the tape delay emulation itself
Sounds much more authentic than the old boss space echo pedal this replaced. Not sure what you mean by saying it sounds digital. I'm not hearing any digital artifacts. If you're saying it's lacking analog character, I don't think so, esp with wow control at 11 o'clock.
Is it though? It's a specialized delay with more functionality for tape sounds than a something like a strymon timeline for less money. It's also does a lot more than the DD-500 for slightly more money. I think it's fairly priced. The RE-2 is also a killer pedal too, having most of the sounds for much less.
I watched this video, 2:31 seconds in I stopped it, went online, bought it, came back. Can wait till they ship her!
I’m glad I could help make your wallet lighter! 😝
@@PedalboardoftheDay Yeah. Thanks for that. Although, I actually won the lottery at my VFW last weekend. $1100. So this is kind of a freebie for me.
The RE-20 was spectacular, yet overlooked. Glad to see that it got an upgrade! I must have this!

Boss are absolutely killing it with recent pedal releases at the mo. The recent fuzzes are epic
We will all find our own place with this pedal...!!!!.....Let's do it while we can..!!!....Best wishes from Plymouth UK..!!
Best demo of this pedal so far. Gonna get me one or two of this guy.
This was a really good demonstration of this pedal and also the loops were great even when distortion came in! Great work!
Thank you so much! I put a lot of time into getting the loops right so I’m glad that you enjoyed itn
One of the best Boss pedals made, sounds lovely
Nothing like a good tape echo!
Wow this takes me back, we had an original space echo in my first band
Wow. Thanks for inlocking sone of the functions such as different reverbs and where to place the pre-amp! Very halpful. I'm convinced the 202 is more what I'm looking for beyond the (also amazing and compact) RE-2.
Wish there were demos with drums, percussion, sfx. I really want to hear it being crazy
Sounds like an idea for a demo channel 😉
thats exactly what im looking for too!
wonderful demo of what looks like an incredible update to my favourite ever pedal!
🙏 thank you! Yes it’s an incredible update!

It does have reverb.
This thing sounds incredible.
It really does!!
beautiful my dude. Really did it justice.
Thanks bud ❤️
Wish we could hear it in stereo. Love the new face of this pedal!
Most people play in mono so I decided to do a mono demo. I know what you mean tho!
The only thing stereo about it is the reverb. The heads don't pan so somewhat pointless making it stereo in the first place. I'll stick with the Volante
@@pedalthang2079
Well, in that case I'd might as well hold on to my good ol' RE-20.
Thanks for this awesome demo! This is what I needed!
as so often, spot on demo!
Awww shucks. Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it!
The next thing good Lord we are waiting for a Boss Ce 1 preamp like John Frusciante's
Boss has absolutely been blessing us and people already want more
Check out the one chorus from grobber effects from Poland. Hes doing copy od ce1
Look up JFX pedals JF-1 preamp
PastFX preamp crunch. Very reasonably priced. Pure glory.
Complimenti, bel format, grafica e style, tutto molto piacevole e funzionale.
Mi iscriverò al Canale.
Wish they'd include an RE-501 Mode so you can put chorus on the repeats
Man this is a special delay… my God I’m gonna have to get my hands on one of these..
First I get the RE-20, then the Volante, now I have to get my hands on this!!!
When will it end??? Also the price
RE-20 250$
Volante 400$
Re-202 600$ in my country.
can you please provide tab or video for what you played in intro ... it was extremely good sounding ❤
Damn you. I really want this
Lovely! But I really want to see how it sounds in stereo haha
Yah! I did it in mono because most folks play in mono. I think there are some folks who have done a stereo demo
Sounds great, looks great. Nice Loops!
👍🏿🤘
Wow
Always always great job. Do you know if the echo/volume knob functions as a mix/blend knob?
The echo control is a mix control for the delay effect
hello, is it possible to have only wet signal out, for use with an aux output on a mixer?
Check the manual. Boss has pdf's on their site. I expect this to be possible. Most small boss pedals already have this. Would be a massive oversight at this point to not have it.
P.s.
but do you only deal with modern equipment? no old and iconic effects? . Greetings
Great video! Not sure if I missed this but can the reverb stay on if the delay is off?
Thomann are saying months off before delivery in Europe
Can this mammajamma do clean-ish repeats that don't always thin out and high pass as they go?
How does this compare to the Strymon El Capistan or MXR Echoplex?
$400!!!! Wow!
Nice review mate, how can you switch from the different types of reverbs? Is there a special knob for that?
You hold down Tap button while powering up to access extra functions, was mentioned in another demo I saw, download the manual if you want to go in-depth
Here you go
Press and hold down the [TAP] switch, and turn on the power.

@@zaphodrahja thank you so much, this pedal sounds amazing and complete for my use.
Boss: Please consider an echorec simulator next!!!
Never likely but nice idea, space echo sounds too pretty for me, prefer a gritty sound like an echoplex
Get a Boonar, hard to beat it
I ust have this, when is it "out" ? Thomann says Month.. ?
The RE-20 had that active AD/DA even in bypass, anyone know if this one has analog dry through?
It does on modes where the saturation control is only affecting the wet signal
Can you activate the reverb only (without the echo) by holding the memory switch?
No unfortunately
Can I switch reverb and echo off independently? Like could I leave reverb on and turn echoes off?
You cannot
I know the reverb is stereo when both outputs are connected but do the delays always come out in mono?
I sure hope so.
@@malcolmbliss777 I hope not! Stereo is where it's at...
Pring pring pring pring / pring pring pring pring / duh duh duh duh / duh duh duh duh / pring pring pring pring ....... Does it do anything else ? The Strymon volante is the one.
Yes it does. You can use just the reverbs and even use the preamp as a boost
Stereo out ?
I’m so pissed! I just got an RE - 20 not even two months ago.
What a bummer, its still good though isn't it? and it has the smiley face 🙂
@@zaphodrahja yes! It’s still a great pedal! And it has the best smile can’t complain about that.
@@ekutoru01 And it will sell $$$ in 2 years...
Can you leave the reverb on with no delays?
I’ll have to check that out. I don’t think so because the bypass switch turns everything on and off
@@PedalboardoftheDay isn’t that exactly what you did in the dirty reverb section of this demo tho? You had the echo vol all the way down...
There’s a mode on the originals that is reverb only. Also can just turn the echo volume down. Later versions also had switches for the different effects.
I thought you meant turn off the delay via footswitches and keep just the reverb via footswitches
So… head?
Sounds very digital to me, the saturation sounds bad on the repeats and I got the impression that the reverbs sounds more accurate than the tape delay emulation itself
Of course it sounds digital. You don't seem to realize that this whole video is digital.

Roland can’t get a second chance.
Wow it all sounds the SAME. I can produce the same sounds with 2 keely delay/echo pedals. Waste of $ this is.
