Thanks I have this pedal but loved your tips for getting more out of it ! 🙏 It’s easy to find your one or two settings and stop trying new things with it
Great summary. I own this pedal but still gave this video a watch to remind me why I like it so much LOL. The pedal has USB, so the hold function could definitely be added in a firmware update! If enough people request it, maybe Boss will add it? I play in stereo, so for me I really wish it could do the 1/4 + dotted 8th stereo thing (AKA The Edge). This is a very common sound that most stereo delay pedals can do. The DM-101 can do a variety of similar tricks in the pan mode but NOT that. I'm at a loss as to why Boss left it out, because surely the hardware is capable of it.
Great review as ever Jackson. I’ve owned this pedal for a few months and it is amazing. I’m kinda with you on the hold function, it just seems surprising that it’s not there given all the things it can do! Would love another video about the bp-1w 👍🏻
It sounds nothing like a space echo. If you A/B'ed the two you would hear how vast the difference is, I assure you. Both are cool sounds, but tape is much more high fidelity.
@@JacksonBrooksby Interesting. Thanks. But (I'm not entirely sure this is a "but") I have several old, crap analogue echo / dela pedals that will self-oscillate - but which don't have a hold function. So - self-oscillation is definitely possible without "hold". So then - what's hold for??
I know it’s digital, but Boss has that hold/runaway function on its RE-202 Space Echo, and to my ears it does not sound good at all. Maybe if they had it in full analog form on this pedal it might sound better, but if it sounded at all like the function on the Space Echo pedal, I would never use it at all. -Side note: Holy S**t I just looked up what the DM-101 is going for in my country, and Woah - No way I would pay $730 for it. Ugh. I kind of wish Boss had just reissued the old DM-1 in its original big box format instead.

I find that with most pedals tbh! It’s easy to stop experimenting

Great review....I thought I heard some Temperance Movement in there.
Great pedal with great Demo 😋
Hold function is a must. Not a deal breaker but, come on!!!!!!
Great review! Thanks!

Can I ask - what's the difference between self-oscillation and a hold function??
I would say that the hold function would start the self-oscillation.
Hold is the action, self-oscillation is the effect.

730$ ?! I'd have to pay 350$ for a brand new unit....
