Your knowledge and the way you lay everything out is amazing! Shows why you got worlds first Swashbuckler! I’m a Dps main, but having fun learning my tanker! Got my necro tank ready dk next! Ty!
Op guide I think you are the only tank ever telling people to use pulsar and caltrops (maybe others told this too but I don't remember) Will probably give it a try with void bash as well
Love the vid! Can I ask why the extra resistances is preferred over the 6% skill cost decrease of Imperial? And what max stats do you try to hit for dungeons? Say for Stone Garden HM (not including the buffs from the potions) Thanks!
Increasing your damage mitigation means you have to spend less time casting defensive skills and you can cast more buffs/debuffs, Imperial's cost reduction is applied after cost reduction glyphs so it doesn't really work well together, Imperial's cost reduction also affects ultimates but the reason why Nord's ultimate generating passive is better is because it will scale better with sets like Saxhleel, Nazaray, War Machine etc. I dont have any specific max stats values I'm trying to hit.
It's not a bad skill I guess, especially since tri-cost reduction makes it free to use so you can spam it for free stamina, but I've never had a situation where it would make sense to slot it instead of one of the other skills, you definitely don't wanna slot it instead of Igneous Shield - that skill is just too good and if you already have Igneous Shield to generate stamina in situations where you need it you dont need Cinder Storm, the healing amount is small and all the hard dungeon bosses (Stone Garden, Coral Aerie) require a lot of movement so you wont be able to stand in it anyway

That's an old video, back then Vigor wasn't that good, now I use it sometimes but that's mainly for the Minor Resolve, for healing I use Coagulating Blood
Thanks for the guide! I’ve been tanking for about 4 months now and I’ve always seen sturdy to be the number one trait, but I can see the usefulness of reinforced/divines if you learn mechanics and don’t permablock. I’m using an imperial dk. With the cost reduction, are your traits on gear recommended for both nord and imperial? Also, what’s the reasoning behind shock on your one handed? I use poison for combustion just to help out with sustain
No the traits/enchants dont change depending on race, even though Imperials dont synergise well with cost reduction (their passive cost reduction is applied after enchants) it's still the best setup to have. Shock enchant procs Minor Vulnerability but using Poison for sustain is also a good option
@@Hyperioxes so are you saying the 6% percent reduction affects the cost reduction, reducing the value of the reduction cost? If that’s the case, ouch.
Hello, great video guide. I'm new to the channel and I have a question, I thought sturdy was the best trait you can get for your shield and body pieces? I was surprised to see reinforced and even divine pieces. Could you please tell me why you prefer these traits and not all sturdy?
Hey, I'll just copy my another comment because it was answering similar question "Sturdy loses a lot of value when you learn to stop permablocking and only block hits you actually need to block, increasing your damage mitigation with Reinforced pieces means you have to spend less GCDs on defensive skills and can cast more buffs/debuffs instead, on gear pieces with low base armor I like to run Divines to boost my magicka recovery, you could also run Sturdy or Well-Fitted on those but I feel like Divines is much more versatile and simply provides more resources, Sturdy and Well-Fitted have increasing returns with each next piece so running only 2 or 3 pieces of those traits makes them even more useless. There are of course cases where Divines is useless, like the Bahsei fight I just uploaded I'm at almost full magicka all the time so it'd be better to run Well-Fitted, Sturdy or Nirnhoned."
Why do you prefer to use elemental blockade + pulsar for rooting instead of using burning/choking talons + pulsar? I ask this because the talons provide a synergy that deal some burst dmg Thanks!
I tried both and I prefer Blockade because it can be cast while running into a trash pack so it saves a GCD. Talons' synergy isn't that good because it can only be used on small adds which will die in cleave anyway. Reinforced + Divines grants you 1608 armor (2.43% - 4.63% damage mitigation) and 84 magicka recovery (with Atronach mundus), full Sturdy reduces your block cost from 1100 down to 800. Sturdy can still be useful for beginners who permablock but even then I think going with Reinforced+Divines and using a single block cost reduction enchant is better, it will reduce your block cost down to 900 from 1100, and you'll only have to change a single enchant once you learn to play, rather than getting different trait on all of your gear
@@Hyperioxes Aah gotcha! I've been testing the wall + pulsar root lately and i still need to get used to but it seems interesting and will help me adapt with multiple tanking classes that don't have a native root such as nightblades or templars. Last time i played on my nord dk tank i realized that i reach 33.3k resists if i get minor resolve from combat prayer so the reinforced traits become redundant... but in 3 dps dungeons and arenas it makes more sense to use this setup. I was brainstorming a change on my jewelry traits for a while cuz triune was sounding kinda dumb and i remember seeing a tank running 3x infused reduce stam cost for ez staggers in a vSS world record video a while ago which made me think more about it... your channel was godsent
I dont like using Warden in dungeons but that's just a preference, Wardens are really good and we're having Warden main tank in Rockgrove score push currently
hey mate, im a rather casual tank and have a question about dk and warden for trash setups. IT might be blasphemy to even think about it, but why would i even play blockade for trash? Cant i just replace it with talons or gripping shards? they both deal more dmg and have extra support (synergy/slow+chill proccchance) and you also get your root out 1 gcd earlier. Why blockade over talons/shards?
Yes you can replace it and the difference will be minimal, the reason I prefer using Blockade is because I can use it while running into a trash pack, while Talons/Gripping Shards are skills you wanna use while being in the middle of a trash pack. I tried using Talons instead of Blockade and I had the issue where while running into a trash pack I'd start with Caltrops and then I'd have no useful skill to use at that range
Again a great video thanks a lot. I have one Question, i use hyper tanking tools and my interface doesnt look as awsome as yours, is it possible that u can upload ur string for the addon? It would help me alot
Haven't tested anything this patch but I don't think much has changed for the tank setup, toggle removal will mostly affect longer fights like Thurvokun, shouldn't affect those 8 second fights by much
For pug trials the usual gear setups are Yolna/Tide for main tank and Saxhleel/PA for off tank, Tide isn't good in organized groups but you don't need to think about it right now, in organized groups it'll be the raid lead telling you exactly what to wear. In dungeons if you dont have Olorime you can backbar Crimson Oath or War Machine as mentioned, or even backbar Yolna
I see. I see many tanks using all Sturdy traits, the reason for your Divines and Reinforced, is that the same as why you prefer Nords resistances over Imperials cost reduction? Also, charged Shock on front bar is for Status effect bringing minor vuln right? I assume as a Warden with Fetcher infection I'd use something else, what would you recommend? Thanks!
@@ItsPaosis Sturdy loses a lot of value when you learn to stop permablocking and only block hits you actually need to block, increasing your damage mitigation with Reinforced pieces means you have to spend less GCDs on defensive skills and can cast more buffs/debuffs instead, on gear pieces with low base armor I like to run Divines to boost my magicka recovery, you could also run Sturdy or Well-Fitted on those but I feel like Divines is much more versatile and simply provides more resources, Sturdy and Well-Fitted have increasing returns with each next piece so running only 2 or 3 pieces of those traits makes them even more useless. Why infused with tri cost reduction 3x? You'll be getting diminishing return. I personally prefer triune with mag recovery. Would like to hear your reason as to why you're using infused with tri reduction
You do not get diminishing returns on it, only diminishing on % decreases which tanks don't really have any of. Or are so minimal that it doesn't matter.
There is no diminishing returns on those and they will simply save you more resources than regen glyphs would have as long as you're constantly casting something, they're not being wasted when you're sitting at full resources and they can boost your stamina sustain which is hard to do with regen glyphs cuz blocking will stop your stamina regen. Personally I think Triune is one of the worst jewelry traits, having triple Infused will boost the tri-cost reduction glyphs by additional 240, I'd rather have that than 1,5k bonus health and 1,3k stam and mag.
