Starlight is that one character that has a stupidly long animation and cast time, a lot of seizure inducing particle effects, but does weak damage. She needs a buff next patch.

Then out of nowhere, no callouts or any kind of warning, he gets lasered in the face by Butcher. Then the entire team proceeds to gang up on him. SB kept his word and got betrayed. Butcher should have immediately made it clear to leave Ryan alone and refocused on HL. While it would have led to a longer and lost fight, it still would have gotten them closer to winning than the dumpster fire that followed. they ended up with a depowered Maeve and lost Solder boy in exchange for an even more paranoid and possible unhinged HL

We can see that Ryan's heat vision is potentially more powerful than HL's because Ryan used it successfully on Stormfront but when HL did the same it wasn't effective. At the end on season 3 HL and Butcher's heat vision was barely moving Soldier boy but Ryan's heat vision launched him into outer space. I think that Homelander might turn against his son because he is afraid of him stopping him in the future when he grows to gain flight more abilities.

I was expecting SB to side with Homelander because he was his son, but him actually still wanting to kill homelander was a shocker for me but an even bigger shocker was Butcher f*cking his own plan up. SB surely needed to be dealt with but their ultimate target had always been Homelander and they totally lost sight of their goal, now it's even more difficult to kill him or render him powerless with SB gone and him having teamed up with Ryan.
I am still willing to bet that Edger and/or Vaught has some sort of Anti-Compound-V formula. Something that is just as secretive as the original Coca-Cola formula. And is will only be used as a very last resort. And Soldier Boy is just a prototype test subject that was used to create said formula. Who knows?

Soldier Boy might’ve crossed the line a few times in the show abusing his team and murdering people with his powers due to his trauma, but I still admire him for staying true to his word to eliminate Homelander, and yet Butcher and the boys decided to turn on him and let Homelander slip their grasp. I can understand that they were probably retaliating against Soldier Boy for hurting Ryan, but I still think it’s bullshit that they all turned on him when they already knew that he was only one who could destroy Homelander. Despite all his moral flaws, I still respect Soldier Boy for being a man of his word. And he’s my favourite character from The Boys because of that.

He has very fast, just barely superhuman reaction speed and the shield gives him the ability to defends out of his league. He's strong enough to lift a couple tons. Butcher, Homelander, and Soldierboy are all in Superman territory. And Soldierboy is much stronger than Butcher and Homelander one on one (but probably slightly weaker than Superman and Omniman and he can't fly).
I think it kinda show how powerful soldier boy actually is,when fighting homelander,he was just wake up after firing his nuke,we can see he's actually experienced fighter,maybe more than the most of the supes because he's actually fighting in war,but homelander is made to be stronger than him,eye beam,and has fly advantage,which butcher counter,but when fighting butcher,he could actually win because he can't fly,it really help overpowering your enemy

For clarity, Ryan only joined Homelander because Butcher’s plan to “save” the boy was to emotionally abuse the shit out of him and blame him for Becca’s death.
I'm sorry but I couldn't turn my brain off during this scene. Soldier boy was staying true to his word regardless of his reasons and they could have finally stopped the most dangerous unstable man in the world but instead focused on Soldier just as he was about to use his powers on them both. I get Butcher cares for the kid but why would they all focus on Soldier boy as Maeve the only one focusing on the right goal fights him solo rather than everyone going up against Homelander at that point not to mention knowing how Butcher is he would have immediately went right back to Homelander to finish things regardless of ryan being there. Also even after Butcher saved the boy Soldier boy was still willing to repay his debt hence why he started talking to him about not getting distracted. I enjoyed this season but this episode was my least favorite among them.
Yeah this made Butchers choices completely pointless in the end. It was forced confrontation to extend the length of the series. Bad writing within this episode
It's a little odd, but, the 'point' is that the 'whatever it takes' mantra he and the other characters were using throughout the season ultimately went too far. Ryan was hurt - and SB could have technically killed (and probably would have) if Butcher and Homelander combined had not attacked him. There is a line that was crossed that not even Butcher was willing to accept, despite what a monster he himself has become.
i feel like the show lacks much drive to hate Soldier Boy, only few things were mentioned on how he was a dick other than that he was more of a soldier even just being a wanna be and that is why people rooted for him more cause he was portrayed as a man of word
Not sure why they took out SB. He was literally pointing out HL was a coward and a little scared boy and was going to destroy him. Unless I missed something how was SB a bigger threat? This made no sense strategically. They know they can disable SB. HL was the bigger threat to be neutralized.
well the justification butcher gave was that he didnt want soldier boy to blow up with ryan in the same room. Then soldier boy got pissed (understandably, butchers emotional response is just plain stupid) and they start fighting.
This fight has just proven that Soldier Boy precisely has the upper hand against Homelander. Due to the outburst cus of his PTSD, Soldier Boy wasn't at his full strength but now, he grabbed Homelander's neck like it was nothing, beaten up the powered up Butcher(even Homelander couldn't have done that), grabbed Kimiko's neck with a straight speed and threw her away easily to take her out of the fight, nevermind Starlight part... Dude is the purest strength and the best thing was that we had a chance to see his combat skills at his full-strength. I hope we can see him in the next season.. Hands down for Jensen Ackles. Great acting. Precisely deserves more and for Anthony Starr as well. He's just getting better and better without doubt..
There’s nothing to say Soldier boy gets weaker anytime he uses his beam, just because you can see him groan doesn’t mean he gets weaker. Homelander actually incapacitated Soldier boy with one hand in the herogasm fight, Soldier Boy needed the help of two supes to do that and it’s not like Homelander was trying to fight back lol. There’s also stan edgar stating Homelander is a direct upgrade to Soldier Boy.
Maeve and Butcher also held homelander while Soldier Boy grabbed him by the neck. Also Homelander was clearly emotionally stunned, since his father called him a disappointment and was going to kill him. So you can’t use that as an argument.

This confirms my suspicions that even though homelander is technically stronger that soldier boy it makes no difference soldier boy is superior he took on all of them and did pretty well. He has the focus, the training,and the aside from his ptsd not many psychological weaknesses . In a straight 1 on 1 he would destroy homelander

Seems like the show writers focused too much on subversion instead of actual logic. As many people have also pointed out, Maeve could've just taken Ryan away and they'd have killed homelander. Seeing as the guy couldn't move with soldier boy and butcher on him, nothing really could've been done, especially with starlight there as well.
Soldier Boy's combat experience have been downplayed by every character. Making him seem like a homelander type, but in this fight we see he is INSANELY EXPERIENCED. Soldier Boy beat Butch 1v1 with pure skill, then stops a Assasin in her track to blindside him. He has shown time and time again that he is INSANELY smart. If Starlight didn't get her ulti off to stun him for 5 sec he would absolutely have soloed their entire squad.

Show Starlight building up power for like a minute straight, Hughie is on the verge of tears watching her ascend to godhood, and all it amounts to is a light punch. He didn't even block it with his shield. Afterwards Soldier Boy starts charging up power, they all let go and then just. Sit there doing nothing. They somehow have enough time to have an emotional moment with Maeve. They somehow have enough to look at each other, Starlight gets sad, Maeve looks around and decides she has to sacrifice herself, Starlight sad, meanwhile everyone STILL JUST SITS THERE WAITING FOR IT TO HAPPEN. It is as if they were supposed to have this dramatic slow motion moment except they forgot the slow motion part.
from the little ive seen of this show, this makes absolutely no since, butcher has been trying to kill him for three seasons but when he had him outnumbered 6 to one (7 if you include hugie) trapped and held down about three seconds from killing him he randomly decides to give it all up and betray him because soldier boy had the audacity to attack a kid that laser-eyed him through a wall.

I was down a long time ago when the show was completely diverging from the comics but this was the scene (and the scene before, anyway) that just took me completely out of it. SB was entirely prepared to complete the objective of killing HL and the one factor that was 'contested' was just Ryan's presence. Just take Ryan out of the equation and everyone makes a move out of there as SB just takes care of HL. Or hell, leave Billy there to make sure, that's fine.

I feel uncomfortable even mentioning this because of the assumptions it draws, but I really felt like MMs charecter was just a vessel for political messaging the whole season. Also feel like SB dropping a few lines like the Billy Cosby one for example seems like a poor attempt at portraying him as a greater evil than homelander who literally lasers people in public or convinces a suicidal girl to go through with jumping of a building.

When he referred to Bill as "America's Dad", it was because during that time he had one of the biggest family sitcoms in America. Cosby's character had portrayed a very likable, traditional father figure as well. The comment of how he used to mix "strong drinks" could be reference to how SB's drug immunity prevented him from passing out from Bill's roofie spiked liquor.

That is a good question. I think because some show writers and producers want to subvert expectations and rely too much on plot twist. My headcanon is that his laser eyes are basically if Homelander and Soldier Boy's abilities combined, basically high powered laser beams that also debuffs them. There was a comment analysis on the Diabolical episode that's canon explaining how Stan's comment about HL being bad product was not just to put him down. Back then when they were trying to retire Soldier Boy, Homelander wasn't as strong as they expected, basically scoring negative on all tests, so the team panicked exposed him to all sorts of stuff to get him more powers to compensate. Meanwhile Ryan is seemingly the only recorded case of a natural born Supe, which was one of the reasons why Stormfront was so rejoiced by it, because if they somehow ever get rid of Compound V, then it doesn't matter anymore. Honestly I dare to say SB's ray wouldn't actually work on Homelander and Ryan because of their physiology.

I feel like you feeling that way is because they didn't really explain soldier boy as well as homelander you have 3 seasons to see how much of a pyscho homelander is but you only get 1 season with soldier boy who isn't really explained.I don't think people will hate him as much as homelander because he has a limit and isn't as corrupt as Homelander
After seeing the conclusion to season 4, it’s insane how badly Butcher sold by not allowing Soldier Boy to kill Homelander and Ryan right here when he had the chance to.
Tbh I’m more intrigued to see what they do in season four. A little disappointed with this final but the stakes are only gonna get bigger. Plus I’m convinced noir is not dead. I have a strong feeling he will return for the final ever episode and kill homelander himself.
Hopefully in season 4, and as much of an asshole A-train was, I hope he at least does something against Homelander as well after all the shit home put him through now that he can run well enough again, he's likely had thoughts of wanting to kill homelander too. A little more redemption That may include teaming up with noir and the rest, I don't think he should try to pussy out from there being able to fully use his powers now with a new heart once homelander is cornered again, they left him off a big fight here

The writers did a major 180 with the finale, we thought soldier boy would work with homelander, we thought butcher would get Hughie killed, we thought Noir would die fighting soldier boy. Yet the opposite of what everyone was expecting happened. This show always seems to surprise with each episode, and each episode is truly unpredictable. Can't wait for season 4.
The show will feed you the least sensible shit and you'll be like wow, it's the greatest thing you've seen. They've done all the good of the past 3 seasons with this finale. It makes zero sense for what they did just for Homelander's plot armour
I don’t even have to watch the show to understand that your take was completely false. Nobody would guess that Soldier Boy would team up with homelander they literally hate each other. This ending sucks ass why is there a little kid mixed in with a bunch of adults that are going to kill each other
I’m so disappointed with this finale 😩. Soldier Boy kept his word and was betrayed for no real reason (by everyone). Black Noir is now allegedly dead with no satisfying ending to his 3-season, sub-par plot buildup (huge let down). Starlight had potential with her ultimate move and it ended up having no real power behind it at all. It barely even knocked down Soldier Boy. Also, he stood there forever waiting to be attacked, like why? Maeve came through like the MVP she’s been in every season finale. A-Train and The Deep had no reason for existing in this season (only to set up for a basic villain next season). MM’s screen time was forced too much in this entire season. It didn’t feel needed at all in the end of things. Homelander should have been hurt by the boys in some way, not a metal drinking straw (this man can deflect bullets). It just seemed like lazy writing all around. Whether it was setting up for future seasons or not, this finale was a massive let down in my opinion. I really hope they read all of the feedback from viewers and take it as constructive criticism to improve future seasons.
I feel like MM only cared about revenge. The logical path would have been to stay with SB and neutralise Homelander and then turn on Soldier Boy. They would have saved all the lives that will be lost next season when Homelander goes full fledged supe nuts and starts killing people
Actually soldier boys wasnt a bad person. Just in prev episode he himself said that he didnt intended to kill those people that he killed accidently. He also mentions am not a bad guy. Again, The cruelty soldier boy had towards his team payback maybe because of his dad. He wanted his dad to be proud of him which he never was. So basically Soldier boy was a fuckup. Homelander's also a fuck up. But atleast soldier boy didnt kill his own people during his period but homelander just kills anybody whom he doesnt like.
Maybe he made more good than bad, but that doesn't stop the fuck that he was cruel to his team. Of course, compared to what everyone does in this show, Soldier Boy would be considered better than most of them. Though, let us not forget that Soldier Boy did kill MM family (I mean, there's a lack of context to MM perspective, but still...)

We can see that Ryan's heat vision is potentially more powerful than HL's because Ryan used it successfully on Stormfront but when HL did the same it wasn't effective. At the end on season 3 HL and Butcher's heat vision was barely moving Soldier boy but Ryan's heat vision launched him into outer space.
I think that Homelander might turn against his son because he is afraid of him stopping him in the future when he grows to gain flight more abilities.

Soldier Boy might’ve crossed the line a few times in the show abusing his team and murdering people with his powers due to his trauma, but I still admire him for staying true to his word to eliminate Homelander, and yet Butcher and the boys decided to turn on him and let Homelander slip their grasp. I can understand that they were probably retaliating against Soldier Boy for hurting Ryan, but I still think it’s bullshit that they all turned on him when they already knew that he was only one who could destroy Homelander.
Despite all his moral flaws, I still respect Soldier Boy for being a man of his word. And he’s my favourite character from The Boys because of that.

I'm sorry but I couldn't turn my brain off during this scene. Soldier boy was staying true to his word regardless of his reasons and they could have finally stopped the most dangerous unstable man in the world but instead focused on Soldier just as he was about to use his powers on them both. I get Butcher cares for the kid but why would they all focus on Soldier boy as Maeve the only one focusing on the right goal fights him solo rather than everyone going up against Homelander at that point not to mention knowing how Butcher is he would have immediately went right back to Homelander to finish things regardless of ryan being there. Also even after Butcher saved the boy Soldier boy was still willing to repay his debt hence why he started talking to him about not getting distracted. I enjoyed this season but this episode was my least favorite among them.
Yeah this made Butchers choices completely pointless in the end. It was forced confrontation to extend the length of the series. Bad writing within this episode

It's a little odd, but, the 'point' is that the 'whatever it takes' mantra he and the other characters were using throughout the season ultimately went too far. Ryan was hurt - and SB could have technically killed (and probably would have) if Butcher and Homelander combined had not attacked him.
There is a line that was crossed that not even Butcher was willing to accept, despite what a monster he himself has become.

This fight has just proven that Soldier Boy precisely has the upper hand against Homelander. Due to the outburst cus of his PTSD, Soldier Boy wasn't at his full strength but now, he grabbed Homelander's neck like it was nothing, beaten up the powered up Butcher(even Homelander couldn't have done that), grabbed Kimiko's neck with a straight speed and threw her away easily to take her out of the fight, nevermind Starlight part... Dude is the purest strength and the best thing was that we had a chance to see his combat skills at his full-strength. I hope we can see him in the next season.. Hands down for Jensen Ackles. Great acting. Precisely deserves more and for Anthony Starr as well. He's just getting better and better without doubt..

Homelander actually incapacitated Soldier boy with one hand in the herogasm fight, Soldier Boy needed the help of two supes to do that and it’s not like Homelander was trying to fight back lol.
There’s also stan edgar stating Homelander is a direct upgrade to Soldier Boy.
Maeve and Butcher also held homelander while Soldier Boy grabbed him by the neck. Also Homelander was clearly emotionally stunned, since his father called him a disappointment and was going to kill him.

Show Starlight building up power for like a minute straight, Hughie is on the verge of tears watching her ascend to godhood, and all it amounts to is a light punch. He didn't even block it with his shield.
Afterwards Soldier Boy starts charging up power, they all let go and then just. Sit there doing nothing. They somehow have enough time to have an emotional moment with Maeve. They somehow have enough to look at each other, Starlight gets sad, Maeve looks around and decides she has to sacrifice herself, Starlight sad, meanwhile everyone STILL JUST SITS THERE WAITING FOR IT TO HAPPEN. It is as if they were supposed to have this dramatic slow motion moment except they forgot the slow motion part.

from the little ive seen of this show, this makes absolutely no since, butcher has been trying to kill him for three seasons but when he had him outnumbered 6 to one (7 if you include hugie) trapped and held down about three seconds from killing him he randomly decides to give it all up and betray him because soldier boy had the audacity to attack a kid that laser-eyed him through a wall.

So they totally just forget about Homelander and kill SB who was brought into the story to kill the unstoppable Homelander. Not only did they fail at getting rid of Homelander but they ganged up on the only person powerful enough to stand toe to toe with and best Homelander.

I was down a long time ago when the show was completely diverging from the comics but this was the scene (and the scene before, anyway) that just took me completely out of it. SB was entirely prepared to complete the objective of killing HL and the one factor that was 'contested' was just Ryan's presence. Just take Ryan out of the equation and everyone makes a move out of there as SB just takes care of HL. Or hell, leave Billy there to make sure, that's fine.

That is a good question. I think because some show writers and producers want to subvert expectations and rely too much on plot twist. It would be cliche if everything goes according to plan so they throw unnecessary wrenches in the plan. What was even the point of Ryan being there when he was barely seen this season?

Nah, Ryan is strong. Stronger than even Homelander. He burned Stormfront. My headcanon is that his laser eyes are basically if Homelander and Soldier Boy's abilities combined, basically high powered laser beams that also debuffs them.
There was a comment analysis on the Diabolical episode that's canon explaining how Stan's comment about HL being bad product was not just to put him down. Back then when they were trying to retire Soldier Boy, Homelander wasn't as strong as they expected, basically scoring negative on all tests, so the team panicked exposed him to all sorts of stuff to get him more powers to compensate.
Meanwhile Ryan is seemingly the only recorded case of a natural born Supe, which was one of the reasons why Stormfront was so rejoiced by it, because if they somehow ever get rid of Compound V, then it doesn't matter anymore.
Honestly I dare to say SB's ray wouldn't actually work on Homelander and Ryan because of their physiology.

There is also the thing he says to MM in Herogasm when MM says Soldier Boy killed his family, SB says "Which one?" which alot of people claim is a racist remark that "all black people are related" but, as a white guy, I took it as Soldier Boy being a piece of shit who has killed so many people that he can't remember and doesn't care, even MM's family wasn't technically a result of a racially motivated attack, it was Soldier Boy beinga overpowered pos supe who slung a car being stolen into a nearby house

The writers did a major 180 with the finale, we thought soldier boy would work with homelander, we thought butcher would get Hughie killed, we thought Noir would die fighting soldier boy. Yet the opposite of what everyone was expecting happened. This show always seems to surprise with each episode, and each episode is truly unpredictable. Can't wait for season 4.

Ain’t gonna lie, this season lost me. Soldier boy was about the only good thing about it.. The boys were just super annoying throughout this season
I’m so disappointed with this finale 😩. Soldier Boy kept his word and was betrayed for no real reason (by everyone). Black Noir is now allegedly dead with no satisfying ending to his 3-season, sub-par plot buildup (huge let down). Starlight had potential with her ultimate move and it ended up having no real power behind it at all. It barely even knocked down Soldier Boy. Also, he stood there forever waiting to be attacked, like why? Maeve came through like the MVP she’s been in every season finale. A-Train and The Deep had no reason for existing in this season (only to set up for a basic villain next season). MM’s screen time was forced too much in this entire season. It didn’t feel needed at all in the end of things. Homelander should have been hurt by the boys in some way, not a metal drinking straw (this man can deflect bullets). It just seemed like lazy writing all around. Whether it was setting up for future seasons or not, this finale was a massive let down in my opinion. I really hope they read all of the feedback from viewers and take it as constructive criticism to improve future seasons.
