I have been watching these videos for quite a while and had no idea that Steve had passed away. He was so entertaining and I will continue watching. Condolences to family and friends and rest peacefully Steve.
Hi Shelia this is Steve of team Sonia and Steve. Sonia just made this again yesterday and it comes out perfect every time. My parents were so thrilled to see it when it was first posted here. You're Steve was right. I asked Sonia tonight how long she cooks it in the crock pot and she said three to four hours on high. Sonia even saved the corn juice this time like Steve suggested. It to me made it even more tastier. Sonia takes it to all the fall and winter church gatherings and it is great for football get togethers also. The crock pot always comes home empty. Not even a drop. We actually use tortilla chips. I miss wrote when I put corn chips. God Bless Sheila. I love to read the comments from time to time to how many folks enjoy it and the tweaks they add to this dish.
So glad you both love this channel! Steve would have appreciated you so much! When he passed away he had made 307 recipes. We miss Steve’s cooking also 👍😃
I recently came across this channel and I love the recipes. He seemed to be a good man. I wish I would have known about this channel before Steve's passing.
I've made this soup from Steve's recipe and it is really good. Sad the man is no longer with us. I've adopted a lot of his recipes into the weekly rotation and learned a lot watching these videos, such as the cornbread mix for breading and so forth.
Thank you for getting EVERY nibble out of the bowl. I watch SO MANY videos where the cooks are SO WASTEFUL leaving lots of ingredients in the bowls! You are my super chef!!!
We love this recipe in our house too! We have an adjustment. We always drain and rinse the beans and replace that fluid with a can of beef broth. The bean fluid is very starchy, so we rinse it off to reduce the chance of a stomach ache.
@@CookingwithShotgunRed yes ma’am, I was so sorry to hear that. Thank you for the uploads. I’ve been subscribed for a while and I enjoy the videos. You’re very pretty and I hope you’ll enjoy the upcoming holidays. I can’t wait to see what you come up with for Thanksgiving and Christmas!
I’ve turned my crock pot on the “ highest” setting also. Learned my lesson- read! Those latches on the sides are for transporting, as you mentioned. But there’s no harm in locking the top down during cooking.
I just made this recipe tonight! It's cooking now for 3-5hrs! This is the 2nd recipe I have made from Steve! Thank you so much 💓 I will have a small bowl tonight when it is ready and for the Buffalo Bills game tomorrow night with friends! Thank you!!!
I have the same crock pot and the paper said not to lock those down, I don't know why . I enjoy your channel. I'm definitely going to try this thank you shotgun red
I think I saw him make this before 🤔.I actually made it. It was delicious! 😋!!! I didn't have can corn & beans then. I had corn 🌽, & dry beans. I keep different beans in jars so I just made them first. 🤷♀️. I almost forgot about Taco Soup 🤦🏻♀️😂! I have everything except I got frozen corn. I only need chips. Got taco seasoning! No ranch yet lol. I should make some more! Glad it came up again!!! ❤️Ya! Miss Red 😢. I'm sure he's in a place 😊😊😊. Thank you! God Bless.
Yes! Yes! I will try the 5 can soup as well. Man shotgun U left us with some health stuff sharing this recipe. RIP truly missed. I am learning how to cook doing this 😷pandemic. Keeping my family and friends healthy🤜🤛 and full.
First of all was offline a few years. Missed you guys when I could come back. It has taken me aback to learn he has gone to be with his maker. My condolences to you Sheila family and freinds... What I was thinking to tell him was if I was gonna cook it longer it would be to add the cheeses. Let them cook right in.
Hello enjoyed watching u make the taco soup aka 5 can soup...but I wanted to agree with you about the WARM button on a crock pot....I had to go look at one of mine
I am not good at cooking...but I love to watch your videos. I actually made your taco soup recipe and to my delight it came out great. It tasted really good! I even froze some to enjoy another day. Thanks!
Most people think of hominy in its whole-kernel form, but it also comes ground. Hominy grits is coarsely ground hominy. Masa is finely ground hominy. Cornmeal from non-nixtamalized corn cannot be mixed with water to form dough, but cooks can use masa to make tortillas, arepas, tamales, and other dishes
I'm still at the beginning of this video. I just wanted to pause it and say this so I don't forget..for the name, how about "5 can taco soup"? He said it drives him crqzybto have ibe or two pieces of corn in there.. haha..im the same way..i do t care what is, if im dumping something into a bowl, i will get a rubber spatula if need be and get every vit if out..haha
Shotgun always has the best recipes, but undrained canned corn in anything can overpower everything and it tastes like you got nothing but canned corn, but then again I would rather eat his cooking than my own

Steve Hall could sell a dying man a membership to a health club. He’s a hell of a salesman and cook rest in peace sir you are missed.
Thanks Robbin! :) He was good at it. He really had a passion for this cooking show.!

I like to rinse most all cans goods out and replace with broth or water then season. This is Sheila. Steve passed away December 29th 2018

My family has made This soup for decades and we always called it posse stew. Funny. Great soup! Thanks
Your so welcome!
I also throw in the juices from what ever there is instead of water or half and half if I think it will be too strong.. love his style of cooking ❤️👍🥰
Thanks for sharing!!
Transporting is what I use mine like that. I have two other crock pots for home use that do not have the latch down lids.
Gulfport...... that's where I'm sitting. Going to have to make this.

It's so funny how I think like Steve that slow cooker setting drives me nuts to lol that's the mind of a real man it would be better my way
True!
Haha Southeast Ga is where I'm from...Savannah to be exact :)
Thanks Chris for subscribing!
Latches for tranaport is my guess!
The latches are for transporting, I do same thing though and lock them down while its cooking, but I don't think it makes a difference.
Good looking
Just put this in my slow cooker. We shall see how it tastes in 5 hours!
Great!!! Let us know how you like it! 😊
@@CookingwithShotgunRed MY HUSBAND LOVED IT!!! YAY!!!!!

Is there any way I could buy a Shotgun Red apron?
Hopefully soon we will have it where you can! :)
@@CookingwithShotgunRed Thank you! How can I found out when available?
I bet this gets better after a day or two in the fridge.
It is one delicious meal!😊
Just for transport.
I'd call that Taco Stew! Maybe even use stew meat in it too!
