One cheap and easy way to get hard transparent plastic sheets is using empty laminated pouches (i.e. running a pouch without inserting any paper in between). You can even make transparent miniature bases this way using a round/circle punch (such as of 1 inch diameter).

Then, when I got older, I went through a brief period of thinking I was too cool for that kind of thing and... _threw it out_ 😭. 20 years later and boy do I regret doing that. The style of your rooms _really_ reminds me of the AHQ pieces.
I love this type of crafting. It has made my table so much better in my opinion. My players think its amazing and I have started making little "adventure in a box" kits with a custom oneshot that is specific to the player's character as gifts for them. If they decide they want to try DMing then they have a little one shot adventure that surrounds their own character so they are already familiar with most of the info. Should make it easier to get their DM feet wet.

I've been using labels for a while with your stuff, they save so much time. I spray varnish or laminate them sometimes for a more fancy look. This system looks brilliant again, the doors are so, so good. Well done again.
Thanks. Someone did something similar with my old doors a year or two ago - and it seemed like a perfect fit for this build (seeing as how there needs to be an open doorway left behind). So I suppose they are the genius :)
@@CrookedStaffTerrain The usual solution I've seen in several games is that you have two pieces - one for an open and one for a closed door, and switch them out. This solution is a lot more elegant, and making the top part of the arch the part where you grab the door is a nice touch.
I think these will be great for my travel GM bag. I live on the border of two Countries ,Gibraltar and Spain so often have to cross the border to game with friends
That's the 'Ashardalon' (sp?) type games right? (where you select from a stack of floor tiles?) I've not played them - but I assume that this would be one way to mix things up a bit :)

You mix the tiles and add a trigger tile between the 9th and 12th tiles like you mentioned in the blog posting. The trigger tile spawns a boss monster encounter of some sort. Each tile spawns a random monster and possibly a trap or other sort of badness. You can see examples of the "encounter cards" on Board Game Geek. Tile sets include Castle Ravenloft, a generic dungeon (Ashardalon), the Underdark (Drizzt), The Jungles of Chula, the Tomb of Annihilation, Sea Caverns, and ect.
Definitely excited about trying this one out! I found scans of the old D&D/Diablo crossover from 2000, and I want to run that solo using DM Yourself as the engine. I was already planning on using this kind of technique, but I will definitely be grabbing your files for future sessions! Thanks Kris!
Fantastic set! Looks like it could be great for Advanced Heroquest, which is one of my favourire random dungeon systems. It generates a structure that I would say is realistic with the way it handles when to place corridors and when to place rooms.
Yeah, AHQ has been a big influence (I've actually tested it out with these tiles/cards a couple of times now) - and having less charts to roll on, and double wide doors works better for me I think :)
These look like they would be great for a set of traveling terrain tiles! The back of notepads is the same sort of paper as the chipboard I think? It looks so great!
Yeah - just be sure to use a thicker piece for the 'spacers' on the door (to give plenty of clearance for the door once it has some paper stuck front & back ;) ).
it looks very good. i wouldnt personally play this alone, since if im alone i would probably prefer to just play a videogame, but i can see potential in this playing with 2 or more people and trying to complete a dungeon, since the rules are supposed to work for other systems, i figure that one could make actually hard dungeons by simply adding more CR monsters to the game in comparison with the players. also want to say, i have seem the blog post, but when the ruleset is completed, i would very much appreciate video explaining the rules too, just because is not a craft project doesnt mean that it doesnt belong here, in fact im quite sure that other people would also like to see a video like that

I play D100 Dungeon. In fact a friend of mine and I created a computer companion for D100 on Steam that does all the accounting for you and makes the game flow much faster with less flipping back and forth in the book.
New to your channel and love your artwork/crafting. I do more solo gaming just because my group meets so infrequently. Use The Solo Adventure’s Toolbox, with Mythic and some tables/generators of my own making.
I'm actually trying to minimise the amount of tables I'm using by adding in the cards that you can see in the pics. And the set kinda works best with 6x6 rooms (I could probably make some L-shaped rooms or smaller rooms later on - but for now I'm just trying to keep things simple :) ).
This will be great for what I'm planning for my players. My players love combat and dungeon crawling and aren't super keen on RPing. Rather than a sprawling narrative campaign, I'm going to have my players face a new dungeon each session that they can playthrough in one sitting without the need to keep track of NPCs, story beats, etc.
Would love to see more tile in this style, this really looks like a boardgame like descent or heroquest, would be cool to see more number of different shaped rooms and corridors
Unfortunately, creating different shaped tiles is slightly problematic with this set - due to the way it's designed (i.e. to allow for the walls - I've had to make the room 'squares' slightly smaller than the passage 'squares').

Here's what I do for sourcing the plastic material for the clear plastic bases: I have been collecting the empty plastic trays that the Costco muffins come in. Each tray gives you a nearly 6.5" x 10" large continuous sheet of clear plastic to work with (in the middle of the top lid), plus there are quite a few smaller flat areas (~1.5" x 3") on the sides that you can use as well. At least that is the design of the containers they use at Costco in the USA. I've saved up about a dozen of these so far... I may have gone a little overboard with it. Lol.

I'm afraid this set is designed specifically for this particular size of tiles (i.e. it has more of an Advanced HeroQuest style than the original HeroQuest). As such, adding more walls inside the existing 6x6 room tiles would also throw things out.

may I respectfully request a large room please ? something like a full A4 size. We used to pay a huge amount of Warrhammer quest and I remember it had two sizes of room square and large rectangle. They were also very handy for normal RPG's Shame he moved away , we miss his stuff errrr him :)
You can increase the size when printing, just by inputting a custom scale... i.imgur.com/KScI45E.jpg ...but that sometimes means that the images are too large for the page.

hi are u fermiliar with the AI dungeon rune hammer made a vid about ai monsters u can make like self generating terrain with dice like 1 is coredoor 2 is random room 1 to 6 so u can create ur own random dungeon so u get suprised over time
I'm not sure I've seen that one. Though I do like the idea of flipping over a card and rolling one die to get all of the layout info in one go (from there you can then look up a particular room or feature on a prepared list that's relevant to the dungeon in question).
Not for this particular set (though the rooms 'squares' just double a flagstone decoration really). If you're looking for a more random looking floor pattern, then there is one in the lava pdf (and things like the caves, etc.).

Well, I'm currently playing through some co-op missions of Rangers of Shadow Deep - so solo/co-op play is very much 'a thing' with me at the moment :)
I liked the door construction (just drop the door into the frame), nice idea.
The dungeon textures do look very good.
People have done similar things with the doors in the past - and it made sense to do something similar for this particular set :)

4 against darkness is a great solo game, with preset room or corridor shapes and sized on a double d6 table. You could draw them!

They're still prototypes at the moment - but when they're done, they'll be printable at home (like the rest of the stuff :) ).

Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately I don't have any plans to make a HQ board - but you could probably put something together yourself from the existing files.
hi are u fermiliar with the AI dungeon rune hammer made a vid about ai monsters u can make like self generating terrain with dice like 1 is coredoor 2 is random room 1 to 6
so u can create ur own random dungeon so u get suprised over time
I'm not sure I've seen that one.
Though I do like the idea of flipping over a card and rolling one die to get all of the layout info in one go (from there you can then look up a particular room or feature on a prepared list that's relevant to the dungeon in question).
What kind of printer are you using to print the tile art?
Just a cheap inkjet printer (mine is a Canon MG2550S).

I just use a cheap inkjet printer with ink cartridges that I refill myself (to keep the cost down). It's a Canon MG2550S.

Not for this particular set (though the rooms 'squares' just double a flagstone decoration really).
If you're looking for a more random looking floor pattern, then there is one in the lava pdf (and things like the caves, etc.).
@@CrookedStaffTerrain, thank you for your answer! I shall check them out, when I see the grids it makes me think of a chessboard, and the videos of the dungeons of the UK and France that I have seen the flagstone did not look like grids on the floor and in some places it looked like dirt floors.

Yeah - I've been thinking about trying some of the sticky-book-cover stuff that you can get.
I might also see what a test piece looks like with a blast of satin varnish over the top 🤔
@@CrookedStaffTerrain I used cheap book laminating stuff from ebay and it worked great for my warhammer quest tiles done in a similer fashion
