- Run your own personal cloud storage and enjoy easy file access, sharing, and syncing with the TS-233. Designed to enhance collaboration and increase remote work productivity, the TS-233 also features rich multimedia applications and provides a complete home entertainment portal.
Powered by an ARM® Cortex-A55 quad-core 2 GHz processor, built-in 2 GB RAM, one Gigabit LAN port, and supports two SATA 6Gb/s hard drives, the TS-233 provides dependable read/write performance for running various home and business NAS applications. The TS-233 features AES-NI 256 hardware-accelerated encryption for both NAS volumes and shared folders, boosting system performance while securing sensitive data.
With a built-in NPU (Neural network Processing Unit) processor, the TS-233 NAS boosts QNAP AI Core (the AI-powered engine for image recognition) performance for high-speed face and object recognition.
The TS-233 comes with the QTS 5 operating system as standard, providing a next-generation usage experience with an updated system kernel, optimised user interface, and advanced security features.
Snapshots are an advanced backup method and are normally reserved for high-end business NAS. QNAP provides snapshots as standard for all NAS - including the TS-233. Snapshots work by recording the current state of the system, allowing it to be restored back to this state at any time - greatly helping in mitigating the threat of ransomware.

vGood explanation. Thanks
Can TS233 schedule backup files to external USB?
I assume this can host 4k Dolby vision video content for Plex direct play? Will not be doing any transcoding.
Can you please explain what is the use of transcoding. If i want to watch a 4K dolby atmos/vision file from the nas, it is always the tv/notebook/phone that is doing the hard work, isn't it?
A question: Does TS233 have functionality to make snapshots (snapshot replica, snapshot vault, backup snapshot vault)?
@@QNAPUK : WoW, this is a value-added feature.
I’m having trouble updating plex manually, can u walk me through it
Download the Plex QPKG from their website, login to the NAS webUI, go to the App Center, click on the icon at the top right with the "+" symbol for "Install", choose the "Install Manually" option.
You can then browse to the QPKG you downloaded to your computer and click on "Install". Will take about a minute and then Plex will have been updated to the latest version.
Should this one be bought insted of the TS-231K ? is it better?
@@QNAPUK I see. The two LAN ports what are the advantages?
Hey so this is a good device too become a media sever?? Because I want too put all of my dvds on it and I have lots of them so it will be good for me too watch films on?? On my phone, tablet, TV or laptop??? And will it still be good when my Internet really slow notices???
If you have a slow internet connection and plan to watch remotely, then you may need something a little more powerful that has the ability to do transcoding as Plex may need to reduce the quality for smoother streaming on a slower connection, our TS-264 would be a good place to start for that.
@QNAPUK thanks I'll look into that yeah I plan too watch remotely when not in the house n places
If the cloud function is working, and I install it at home.
Can I save and download the file from another location?
Please reply...
yes, just bear in mind that large files can take a while as it depends on your internet speed
Can you run jellyfin server on it?
Slightly misleading, the unit power rating doesn't include drives, and a Nas without drives would be utterly useless. So add on 5-8 watts per hard drive, maybe 4-6 watts for an SSD. So a Nas running 2x HDD is around 25 watts.
Actual power consumption, operating mode with drives is measured at 10.81W in our testing. HDD's asleep is 3.43W.
This model support SSD caching?
No, there is no SSD caching support on the TS-233.
Hi can it also run QVR Pro?
The TS-233 cannot run QVR Pro, but it can run QVR Elite.
Pity as I wanted to take advantage of 8 free camera license on the pro version.
does it work with MAC?
Yes absolutely.
