    There is a deeper meaning to the song. The protest is about how people allowed the war to happen and partied with the profits while thousands were killed to gain those profits. Americans drank $10.00 cups of coffee, driving $50,000 cars complaining that they had to pay for extra cheese on their $20.00 pizza while the US Military bombed civilians. That’s what this song is about.

    Daron, the second singer you are singing, sings harmony, and lead on some songs. Serj is the primary singer though. BYOB their second protest song to the Iraq war. System has a TON of great songs to go through. Aerials, Chop Suey, Toxicity, Sugar, Lonely Day etc.

    They had an unique way to structure their songs even on tried to classified them in any metal subgenre i know everyone knows them as nu metal but it doesn't enough accurate imo the lirics are always relatable also when it comes to sang back and forth between serj and daron it's so particular too.

      To me, they are a punk band in terms of attitude and lyrics playing metal-ish music. They have a unique sound that no one else sounded like at the time or even now.

    The contrast is intentional. The "chill" party chorus is supposed to criticize how popular culture and the media "numb" people to the horrors of war, and use distractions and consumerism to kind of pacify people into compliance. The helmets are supposed to represent that distraction, i.e. a tv or cell phone.

    Yeah when you mentioned that this isn't just a reaction channel and that it's a channel for listening to music and hanging out together, I wanted to say that's actually one of the reasons I'm following/subscribed to your channel now. I love to hear your opinions/feelings/thoughts/expressions on the music.
    System of a Down is quite strong on their political messages in their lyrics. I would say another band that does this is Rage Against the Machine. Have you heard many by them?

    • @danny-d0rito
      @danny-d0rito 6 месяцев назад

      Rage is also great with music, although they are some crazy commies lol. I like system because they're more like old school left-I will never agree with right or left, old or new, 100%. but they are definitely on point with all that they say about war.

    In my opinion, the "contradicting" thing your talking is intentional. The "clean lullaby part" represents the lies from the media about the wars and the "progressive/agressive fast part" represents the harsh reality we refuse to see and believe.
    Chic n' stu is a fun song, I mean they don't have bad songs xD

      @Dani-x01 6 месяцев назад

      I think "the poor" line is a metaphor for soldiers that the government sent to war not exactly "poor"and people who die even without having nothing to do with their own government war most accurate from the side of people who's been invaded.always remember there's wasn't weapons of mass destruction in Iraq even trump admitted it.

    Extremely talented, but sadly really misguided... steeped in leftist politics. If you like this type of music, and the message, you should really check out Rage Against The Machine. They are the kings of angry, leftist, political rock. If you're like me and disagree with the message, there's still lots to like as where I can argue the politics, both of these bands are wildly talented musically and there's no arguing that.

    • @danny-d0rito
      @danny-d0rito 6 месяцев назад +1

      but it is only old leftist politics. RATM was a bunch of commies lol, these guys sung about war.
      and I'll just ask you this: if you think this is misguided, then why is the comments under the video for the song filled with ex military from the Iraq wars saying that it's all true? hope you are having a good day, just wanted to see if you'd respond and think about it.

    • @oktober-vh6gl
      @oktober-vh6gl 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@danny-d0rito there are vets from every conflict that were for or against said conflict. even if the majority of them were in agreement with the lyrics, that wouldn't make it right, just a popular assessment. I will agree that RATM were a bunch of wannabe commies, lol. what's really funny about that is Zack went to my HS. University HS in Irvine, CA. Cheapest place in Irvine right now is well over $1m for a base model home. They all grew up in middle to upper-middle class families, living in Orange Co., CA... in the lap of luxury with millionaires all around them... fully isolated from any real strife of harsh realities, lol. buch of fake azz posers. As far as this band, I would not label them any of that... just leftist, hard leftist and no, don't agree with their politics at all... outside of the common sense grounds we all agree on, like... war is bad. I doubt there's more than 10k people in the world that honestly love war and think it's great, while the other 8 billion of us disagree... but the whens and hows of war, I disagree with this band completely. I mean seriously... Why don't presidents fight the wars, why do they always send the poor? seriously? Sorry, it rhymes and makes for good lyrics, but it's a complete BS was to look at war... and it's not what western countries do- at all- in anyway. most men... are poor. most men, by a wide margin, are blue collar. therefore yes, most army soldiers are poor people. I'm from that same rich place I just stated Zack is from... and I signed the selective service agreement when I turned 18 too. I can see you making an argument that most are poor as they have no other options in times of peace, so they sign up as a way to better themselves while rich kids do have college or other options and therefore don't have to sign up, but even that is BS. if rich kids were taking some of those slots by conscription... what would the poor kids do then, with the military not being an option any longer? sure there are some high profile cases of rich guys getting their kids out of the system, but it's rare. it's like stating no one needs college because Bill Gates dropped out and is a billionaire. outliers, strawmen, popularist thinking... none of these thigs is how you dictate policy for the military and for war... at least, not in my opinion. PS- hope your day is going great too. even if we disagree on something, doesn't mean people can't be civil and respectful and honestly wish the other person well. That's something we all messed up on... how tribal our politics have gotten over the last 20 years or so...

    • @danny-d0rito
      @danny-d0rito 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@oktober-vh6gl okay so some of that I understand, but here's the point of presidents and poor here:
      war is bad. we can in general, at least in most cases, agree. but the point was that the people in the offices, they are exempt. they don't get drafted, and neither do their kids. which is the other part: why don't the presidents do it? undoubtedly, if them and their associates had to fight as well, there would be 99% less wars.
      and I am deeply thankful that you can put disagreements aside for being civil as well! a quote I always liked was "I disagree with your opinion, but I defend your right to say it" it's something sorely missed nowadays. I'm glad you're willing to speak about such in a civil manner.
      and yeah, the majority being right thing is BS. my apologies on that one.
      although another thing I may argue is that it's a good job for the desperate, the military. but doesn't that just make it all the more predatory? hoping so many are poor and desperate and willing to go into a job using them as cannon fodder?
      I don't know how long you want to go on for, but I will respond if there's more you'd ask of me.

    • @oktober-vh6gl
      @oktober-vh6gl 6 месяцев назад

      @@danny-d0rito but see... if you really think about it, I'd bet you'd discover that isn't true. you stated 99% of war would not happen if presidents and their kids had to fight, but I don't believe that at all. For example, I hated Bill Clinton, and I thought Barak was even worse. Biden is now making all of them look like geniuses, lol, but that said... I don't belive for one second that any of those guys would or would not command thousands of our fathers and sons to die hinging on whether or not their kids had to go too. I think all those men know what the realities of war are, and I'm sure they would not commit to war unless they believed it to be the right thing to do in that moment. history might show them to be 100% wrong, but in the moment... no, I don't believe for a moment any of those guys would do that. Now, if the guys I didn't like wouldn't do it, I think you'd guess I believe the guys I do like wouldn't have done it either. So, let's take it away from presidents. would you? if you had the power to start war, would you start it if your kid didn't have to go, but wouldn't if they did? I don't think you would... I think you'd commit to war, knowing what that meant, only if you really were commited to that being the best thing for the country. Me too. I'll bet if you take a serious poll of all your friends, no one would hinge war on if their kid had to go or not. The left loves to do that. put out a really good sounding point... that isn't so. it's totally believable too, on first listen, but if you really think about it, I think you'd find it just isn't true. None of us, repub or dem, would hinge full blown war on whether our kids had to go. Now, if you'd like to debate whether rich people use their money and skills to find every loop hole possible to keep their kids from having to go... that I would agree with. but that's true of leftists and conservatives. Don't you think every hollywood lefty would use ever penny and ounce of power at their disposal to keep themselves and their kids from war? You bet your ass they would, and so would I. It's only smart. Now, if you don't like that, then lets look at those loopholes, and close them up. level the playing field some. but to state we always send the poor to war, that if the pres's kids went war wouldn't happen... it's all BS. It sounds really good, but it's just not factual. I don't know what the left does that, likely because it works. The right uses fear tactics, but I think those are easier to see through. You know, things like trannies are going to destroy the fabric of our nation. lol. no, they won't do it... they are less than 1% of the population. trannys aren't going to kill you or your way of life, lol, but rural bumpkins hear some talking head on TV, some televangelist spout crap like that and they just believe. Bands like this do the same thing. They take talking points, generally wrong in nature, and put them to music, which further popularizes the talking point and cementing it as factual in people's heads... when really, it's no different than trannies ruining the world. I'm in my 50's now, and I think a whole lot of us have forgetten how to critically think. To hear something, understand what is being said, not the words, but the meaning and the point of view of the person saying the words... then researching and thinking about it... playing both sides. if we all did that, we'd all see through all the clickbait bs we're fed these days, including a lot of the lyrics coming from rock guys with zero knowledge of geopolitical... anything, really. BTW, thank you for getting my juices flowing, lol. it's good to rev up the brain every once in a while. Neil DeGrasse Tyson once said, you should learn something new everyday... and get your mind blown at least once a week... or you're doing it wrong! lol

      System of a Down are comprised of varying personalities with different political beliefs ranging from Serj (somewhat leftist like you say) to John (traditionally conservative) to Daron and Shavo (apolitical) but they come together in their music with common goals and messages. I don’t think a general anti-war sentiment like this song espouses is leftist at all, in fact many leftists are pro-war at the moment. Right wingers like Trump are anti-war.
