Dave is a living legend. Honored to have heard him live. Hurts my soul to see him so aged.
You know he is sick ? Apparently has or had some health condition. I forget exactly what but he talked about it on a Joe Rogan podcast.
Thsts an understatement he's the greatest artist ever in my opinion the dudes a musical genius
A massive guest for such a small channel, congrats man. I am going to enjoy this! 🤘🤘
Welcome aboard! Thank you for watching! Hope you subscribe 🤘🏻
Thanks for taking the time to put timestamps of each topic, love when creators do this.
You bet! Thank you for watching! Hope you subscribe 🤘🏻
I agree we need to always remember the great guitar players and bands from the Bay area
Dave opening with holy wars made me a stronger player but tornado of souls grounded me during the hard patches. Live on dave bring back marty for kicks what a compliment to your style.
Megadeth, Metallica, and Anthrax, Slayer had the knack of songwriting. Alot of up and coming metal acts had flashes of brilliance, certain songs or riffs. Alot of band would come out strong with an intro, then resort to that fricken blast beat all the time and lose the groove. I think its remarkable how they had the vision to do the songwriting that was within the scheme of the song. I just think people like Dave and James, and Lars had the vision
You sound like Circle of Tone (so check him out if you want someone with I think similar opinions to yourself)
Dave mustaine you are #01
Never stop
Awesome interview. Dave is a total legend!
I wonder if we'll ever get to hear Good Mourning/Black Friday in at least instrumental form..
Would be epic!
Would love to hear Good Mourning. Black Friday isn't necessary (for me i.e.).
Last point, family saves you from yourself because of your priorities. Very insightful discussion.
Thank you! Hope you subscribe 🤘🏻
Nice Dave , those who know . Respect for not glamorizing it.
EXCELLENT.
Cheers 🥂 🤘🏻
How come large bands like The Offsrping and Iron Maiden, and even smaller ones like The Warning, DO manage to fund long world tours?
I don’t care for the dot inlays and don’t understand why they went with them but other than that, it’s a really cool guitar and I might actually get it.
Plays fantastic when setup right 🤘🏻
Dave not looking or sounding too good, he looks like hes 80.
81
Kinda looks like super Dave from the 80s
Laaz Rocket is not that unknown...
he’s definitely an old man now :(
Youthanasia is super underrated. Dave’s voice was at its peak on that album imo. It’s shame that A tout le monde (I love that song btw) is the only song from that album that they ever play live. So many hidden gems on that record!
You're 100% right
Blood of hero’s such a good tune.
They don't play any good songs off any of their other albums.. and they only play 50 minute set..
Seen megadeth 3 times now in 2 years.. and set list could be way way better!!!
Agreed!!
they need to put Reckoning Day, Black Curtains, Elysian Fields and Family Tree in the regular set list rotation. Cryptic Writings also doesn't get enough love outside of Trust and She-Wolf
no way should this old ass man be touring... even if he does have a legendary legacy. stay at home, play some golf, drink lemonade on the porch in florida... enjoy your retirement.
Did you hear Daves about to be Grandpa? His son is having a girl so awesome for Dave i hope he's happy with what he's accomplished in his troublesome life
Dave is at his best here. He is humble, gracious, and just a superb musician.
Couldn’t agree more, he was awesome to chat with! Thank you for watching! Hope you subscribe 🤘🏻
Thank God he’s still alive and we got the new album. It’s fantastic. My favorite since Countdown. I love the new lineup.
Going see them in Tampa with the Misfits in 2 weeks, pretty stoked!
It's more of a mule
I have so many comments to make. 1. I am so grateful that Dave beat cancer, is here with us, and continues to rock! 2. I want to give him a big hug for being such a caring performer and taking the time to play at small venues. (especially in places in Europe that otherwise do not get to hear live concerts). My first time seeing Megadeth was in a small venue, and it was such an awesome show! 3. I have seen Megadeth 3 times because they keep their ticket prices reasonable. Not only that, but their t-shirts at the concession stand are also reasonable. Love you for that! 4. Overkill rocks! 5. Now I have to check out House of Mustaine wine.
The new album is absolutely amazing! Dave is still as hard core as ever, and Kiko brings a whole new element to the band. So much respect for them - kicking Metallica's ass! Love listening to guys in their 60's destroying young "rock" bands.
Wow! Great interview! I love how Dave is giving credit to the other people who helped shape Thrash Metal! I like his shout-out to Kirk Hammett! That was class! That's the Dave I love! What a legend!
please subscribe 🤘🏻
that shout-out literally squashes all beef between megadeth and Metallica imo
@@Septicshites Yep. Yet the "fans" and interviewers that keep asking Mustaine about Metallica keep the imaginary rivalry alive.
@@TheNothing6Look I love Dave but all he has to do is say No Metallica questions or I’m leaving the interview
@@davidhooks6325 I agree. Why he doesn't do that is beyond me. He brings most of the criticism he gets on himself.
Regarding the touring part: it’s just the sad truth of the industry now.
Such a shame. I read an article with Rob Dukes (former Exodus) a while back where he was working as a mechanic in addition to his gig with his current band. I might have that story wrong, but the point being it’s a tough scene. Wish more people would realize how challenging it is if you’re not an A-lister.
Hence, concert ticket prices haha
Most musicians must not make much money
@@JeremyWhiteShow
this was a great interview unusual questions and dave is the biggest idol in music for me so and he is very intelligent and thoughtful. and he has a hot daughter man that daughter
When I was around 18-19 years old , I watched rusted pieces on vhs. When I first saw Holy wars I was blown away, it literally changed how I played guitar. From practicing more and learning everything I could, Dave changed my life! I will always hold Dave and Megadeth in my heart.
Thanks for watching! please subscribe 🤘🏻
Good interview. Iconic guitarist. Dave likes Dave
Thank you David! Please subscribe 🤘🏻
“Skin O My Teeth” should be a LIVE staple, that’s my very favorite Megadeth song … raw power that thumps.
That's a good one. Not my absolute favorite but it is such a definitive Megadeth song. Good pick! Great energy and riffs!
I've been getting into them lately and that song is one of my favorites too
Thanks Dave! I’d say you’re The Godfather of thrash at least huh ?
A fantastic songwriter too , come on man ?
Hook in Mouth with the freedom acronym , clever AF and oh so relevant still.
RIP a guitar clinic song’s bordering on progressive never getting monotonous
Countdown (my personal favorite) with mid tempo epics Ashes in Your Mouth is a Megadeth musical business card ... and business is good
Then you got your soundtrack songs
Go to Hell
Angry Again
Diadems
99 Ways to Die
I’d put those against just about any single side of any other album and it’d hold its own
Youthanasia, Slaps.
She Wolf has one of the best hooks of all time it’s a pop chorus that you swear you’ve heard before and it’s an ear worm
Anyway I could go on and on about all the great Megadeth albums and songs.
Thanks again for all the great music that helped get me through growing up in a home I didn’t always feel a part of , In a world I didn’t feel a part of. Megadeth and Bob Ross got me through some tough and lonely times growing up. \,,/
he's neither....Lord Iommi had a hand in that too, Symptom of the universe.
Mustaine is the guy who was kicked out of one of the greatest metal bands of all time
He is the Godfather of the Greyhound Bus ride.
@@Dave_Wight_The_Rock_Oracle haters going to hate but I’ll take anything Megadeth did in the 90s over anything that Metallica did in the 90s . I don’t think he is The Godfather of metal and would agree with Iommi being The Godfather of metal, but Dave’s influence on Thrash cannot be understated he was in or a direct influence on 3 of the big four, yeah other bands were doing it around the same time and he gives them credit in this interview .
Hello Dave, rock on!! I watch old Motown videos and blues videos from the past constantly. Great stuff for sure and certainly influenced me.
Megadeth is on a roll with making great albums, let's hope they don't stop anytime soon! Also shout out for the awesome show they did in Japan and televised live! Good job! Great interview, better than I thought it would be.
Thank you Paul, appreciate the kind words. Hope you subscribe! Cheers 🤘🏻
Man, looking at Dave really makes me realize how old I’m getting 😅😮
Stop the press.Did Mustaine just call Kirk Hammett a great guitar player?
Don't think I've ever heard Uncle Dave so open, honest and humbled before. 🙏
Btw, Kramer ftw - lifetime supporter of Kramer, and this signature model is a beauty.
He was very generous to give me as much time as he did and be so honest about a lot of stuff. Honour to chat with him!
Uncle Dave? Is that what people are calling Mustaine these days.... uncle dave? lol
@Bob Abooey no it isn't I'm just a goof and it's better than calling him gramps or something...was thinking of "papa het" for some reason. Just being a goof 🤪
Do you know what happened with Dean guitars? He will not sign them…😢
8:25 -- wtf... They must have last played "Use the Man" like 25 years ago lol... O_o
.
27:19 -- he *"DID"* or *"DIDN'T"* invent playing overhand ?? Can't hear well...
United abominations. Has. Speed picking. That is hugely underated, and the songs themselves. Is a true megadeth gem of pure mustaine genius!!!
Headcrusher and United Abominations are great songs!
Once in my lifetime I wish I could see Dave Mustaine interview conducted by a Megadeth fan.
I don't want sound pessimistic here,,I love the guy,,but i fear this new album will be the last Megadeth album, I know his cancer is gone but the guy looks frail,,maybe he just needs a break to get his full health back
I agree. I bet this is it.
good good interview. very interesting about how much it costs Megadeth to tour ie the 45,000 dollars a day for the tour bus.
Thanks for watching, hope ya subscribe 🤘🏻
Dave is aging as he speaks. Bless his heart.
Dave is a fucking beast, released 16 albums despite all the shit he went through! Overdoses and had problems with drug addiction, lost ability to play guitar, needed neck surgery, had cancer, you can go on and on!
I thought he was Joe Biden, lol.. jk
He doesn’t know Voivod?!!!!
No mention of Angelwitch, or Venom, Diamondhead etc since doing deep dive. Metallica was playing diamondhead songs nobody was familiar with
Dave Looks rough. He may not be around much longer.
Bro🤞
Great interview...Dave is actually like a lovable uncle.
Youthanasia was still good - it started losing momentum with cryptic writings and then a lot of the stuff in between has been off centre - however - The Sick The Dying and The Dead has come full circle and rocks hard and has the full on Megadeth feel again!!!
Thank God metallica let Dave walk we would have never had megadeth
I saw Megadeth in March,
they only charged $120 for the tickets and it was the best concert I’ve been to. They were incredible. 🔥
I'm 50 years old and have been a fan since Killing is my bussiness, I'm gonna be honest, Dave's years of hard living has caught up with him, I know he still shreds but his voice is shit now and playing the old songs live is just not good. Bow out man we have plenty of music from you to enjoy
They all start selling poop tasting swill. I’d respect you more Davey if you sold bobble heads.
Great call! Youthanasia was such a great album in every way, not least vocally. There was definitely progress vocally on Youthanasia. However, I would say that the album 'Risk' features Mustaine's voice at its pinnacle (which is ironic, since many people consider that album their worst).
Thank you for watching! Hope you subscribe 🤘🏻
Great interview, it’s nice to see an interview covering the business side of things. 👍
19:14 -- wtf, there's *NO whammy on WAKE UP DEAD* ?!
What part of the song is he referring to exactly?! O_o
Mustaine &/or Megadeth ***one of the richest metal sounds available to man.⚡♨️
Not sure why but Dave reminds me of old Clint Eastwood now. Dave still rules!
Elephant in the room time....dave is gravely I'll and not gonna make it......use your eyes....
Great interview... subscribed!! Long live Megadeth!!!
Thanks man, appreciate it! 🤘🏻
aged very well!!...like stallone, axel rose, and mickey rourke!
Love Dave Mustaine and Megadeth ever since i heard Symphony Of Destruction in 1992
23:03 -- omg it DOES sound pretty close to it... :D
ahahaha never noticed that ! :P
Damn, ive seen a dave interview recently, but shit, hes looking perhaps years older, fom just a few months ago.god bless him
Dave is so cold , if the band made it to stardom then clearly everyone in the band is a star .
Good interview. Dave seemed comfortable and let it rip as usual - most honest musician ever
Thank you, John! Hope you subscribe! Cheers 🤘🏻
Distopia was the first CD I have spent $ since LD 50 Mudvayne
DAVE MUSTAINE IS MY MEGA ROCKSTAR!!!! STAVROS 🇬🇷
🎸🎸🎸
Dave is back to playing "The Conjuring"? He claimed he'd never play it again due to his being a born-again Christian. Nice interview. I like some tech talk and you incorporate that.
I saw them play it live in London UK in 2018- freaking awesome
That song is so Riffalicious!
Saw them play it in 2022, Im Christian also, and I don’t get it. I LOVE Good Mourning Black Friday.. but dislike the lyrics.
Its a shame how digital and pro toolsy Daves music has become. all their new records sound like a continuation of one song and all of their live performances are robotic and Computer automated. Even their stage moves are choreographed and rehearsed like you are at a Poison and Warrant concert and turned themselves into an opening act with band members who have the personalities and stage presence of a programmed robot. Damn shame
So true, underrated comment. You were able to put into words what many fans think. It's more megadave than megadeth, we like our bands where every individual member has their own personality style and contribution.
Gibson is a pretty metal guitar company considering Tony Iommi played em
Exactly!! Hope you subscribe! Cheers 🤘🏻
seems like ESP have a history of being ass hats....surprised they're still around
Repeat after me : I will buy an overpriced signature made in China guitar!
Fuck yeah Laaz. Phil with the Moonstone V
Seem like old rusty grandpa, in reality guy is a dynamite on stage.
❤
Cancer took a lot out of him. Wow.
Dave changes guitar brands like he does band members...😀 Besides that the man's a genius, he is Megadeth... God bless him he got very old looking... A fan since 86..
Wasn’t he with Dean for like 20 years?
He’s just aging like a real person and not doing all the treatments and things that famous people do to try and stay looking young..
much more respect due to anyone who is not afraid to be who and what they are
@@shecklesmack9563 Probably, he was with Jackson a while too, Gibson, ESP, I suppose he gets fed up and moves on the next best paying brand ha ha.
@@BeachVibingChik Well yes, but for his age, its not a criticism but after having cancer and all that... But it's good to see him well again...
@ned1621 Gibson owns Kramer though so it's just an extension of his current position with Gibson.
Hard to watch with all that stupid commercials
I gotta get paid somehow 🤷🏼♀️ get RUclips premium and watch commercial free 🤘🏻
I LOVE MEGADETH!!! BEST METAL BAND EVER!!!
Hell yeah! Please subscribe 🤘🏻
Jackson, Dean, Gibson, Kramer, and on and on and on
my goodness, age is a terrible thing, i love dave and wish he would stay young forever!
Looks like cancer really accelerated things. He looks like a VERY old 61. Compared that to Mick Jagger at 61 who had an incredible voice and could move like crazy.
Ladies & Gentlemen, Clint Mustaine.
Endorphins from exercise are addictive too. Hard drugs are nothing compared to your own endorphins you just need a good wind down routine. I was addicted to exercise before I got hit by a car.
OMG, what the heck happened to dude? He looks 100
Drugs, alcohol, chemotherapy, and almost 4 decades of nonstop touring/recording will do that to some people.
Chemo takes away your lifeforce by attacking your immune system. On top of that all the drugs has aged him. I don't think Megadeath will go on for more than a year or two max.
So many wise lessons from mature-Dave here and I love to see it.
What a class act!
Also, who the hell ever said, "Gibson isn't a metal guitar company"...?
IMO, as Dave said, It is now... but it also always has been, if you ask me!
Keep on killing-it, Dave!
Well said! Thank you for watching! Hope you subscribe 🤘🏻
I mean Hetfield wrote most of the first 3-4 Metallica albums on a Gibson Explorer 🤷♂️
This is Karen from Santa Ana CA and excellent job on this interview with Mr Mustaine I just became a new subscriber stay safe and careful❤❤
Thank you Karen! 🔥
Awesome interview Jeremy!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks my friend!! 🤘🏻
What’s with Dave’s voice
Mega Star ❤❤ good interview 🙏
Dave is not aware of Voivod ? WTF
i guess i do hear some motown in some megadeth songs
One of the coolest front men of all times 😎🤘
Awesome Interview!! Great questions and honest answers from Dave about all things business we the fans do not see. Thanks Jeremy!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching! Hope you subscribe 🤘🏻
You're a great interviewer!
He sounds horrible...
So far So Good So What is super underrated. I listened the crap out of that album
Nice to see Kramer getting a little love.
love this album and love this line up..keiko is by far the best fit since marty
james also fits right in.
as if its always been this way.
40 years and still my favorite a$$! Megadeth Rox!
