Youthanasia is super underrated. Dave’s voice was at its peak on that album imo. It’s shame that A tout le monde (I love that song btw) is the only song from that album that they ever play live. So many hidden gems on that record!
They don't play any good songs off any of their other albums.. and they only play 50 minute set.. Seen megadeth 3 times now in 2 years.. and set list could be way way better!!!
they need to put Reckoning Day, Black Curtains, Elysian Fields and Family Tree in the regular set list rotation. Cryptic Writings also doesn't get enough love outside of Trust and She-Wolf
When I was around 18-19 years old , I watched rusted pieces on vhs. When I first saw Holy wars I was blown away, it literally changed how I played guitar. From practicing more and learning everything I could, Dave changed my life! I will always hold Dave and Megadeth in my heart.
I have so many comments to make. 1. I am so grateful that Dave beat cancer, is here with us, and continues to rock! 2. I want to give him a big hug for being such a caring performer and taking the time to play at small venues. (especially in places in Europe that otherwise do not get to hear live concerts). My first time seeing Megadeth was in a small venue, and it was such an awesome show! 3. I have seen Megadeth 3 times because they keep their ticket prices reasonable. Not only that, but their t-shirts at the concession stand are also reasonable. Love you for that! 4. Overkill rocks! 5. Now I have to check out House of Mustaine wine.
Wow! Great interview! I love how Dave is giving credit to the other people who helped shape Thrash Metal! I like his shout-out to Kirk Hammett! That was class! That's the Dave I love! What a legend!
Megadeth is on a roll with making great albums, let's hope they don't stop anytime soon! Also shout out for the awesome show they did in Japan and televised live! Good job! Great interview, better than I thought it would be.
Don't think I've ever heard Uncle Dave so open, honest and humbled before. 🙏 Btw, Kramer ftw - lifetime supporter of Kramer, and this signature model is a beauty.
@Bob Abooey no it isn't I'm just a goof and it's better than calling him gramps or something...was thinking of "papa het" for some reason. Just being a goof 🤪
Dave is a fucking beast, released 16 albums despite all the shit he went through! Overdoses and had problems with drug addiction, lost ability to play guitar, needed neck surgery, had cancer, you can go on and on!
Did you hear Daves about to be Grandpa? His son is having a girl so awesome for Dave i hope he's happy with what he's accomplished in his troublesome life
The new album is absolutely amazing! Dave is still as hard core as ever, and Kiko brings a whole new element to the band. So much respect for them - kicking Metallica's ass! Love listening to guys in their 60's destroying young "rock" bands.
Regarding the touring part: it’s just the sad truth of the industry now. Such a shame. I read an article with Rob Dukes (former Exodus) a while back where he was working as a mechanic in addition to his gig with his current band. I might have that story wrong, but the point being it’s a tough scene. Wish more people would realize how challenging it is if you’re not an A-lister.

@@Dave_Wight_The_Rock_Oracle haters going to hate but I’ll take anything Megadeth did in the 90s over anything that Metallica did in the 90s . Looks like cancer really accelerated things. He looks like a VERY old 61. Compared that to Mick Jagger at 61 who had an incredible voice and could move like crazy.
Dave opening with holy wars made me a stronger player but tornado of souls grounded me during the hard patches. Live on dave bring back marty for kicks what a compliment to your style.
Dave changes guitar brands like he does band members...😀 Besides that the man's a genius, he is Megadeth... God bless him he got very old looking... A fan since 86..
He’s just aging like a real person and not doing all the treatments and things that famous people do to try and stay looking young.. much more respect due to anyone who is not afraid to be who and what they are
That Motown recording was in large part due to Bernard Purdie on drums. He talks about coming in with Purdie shuffle not stepping on anyones toes. Can always add more.
Megadeth, Metallica, and Anthrax, Slayer had the knack of songwriting. Alot of up and coming metal acts had flashes of brilliance, certain songs or riffs. Alot of band would come out strong with an intro, then resort to that fricken blast beat all the time and lose the groove. I think its remarkable how they had the vision to do the songwriting that was within the scheme of the song. I just think people like Dave and James, and Lars had the vision
So many wise lessons from mature-Dave here and I love to see it. What a class act! Also, who the hell ever said, "Gibson isn't a metal guitar company"...? IMO, as Dave said, It is now... but it also always has been, if you ask me! Keep on killing-it, Dave!
Great call! Youthanasia was such a great album in every way, not least vocally. There was definitely progress vocally on Youthanasia. However, I would say that the album 'Risk' features Mustaine's voice at its pinnacle (which is ironic, since many people consider that album their worst).
no way should this old ass man be touring... even if he does have a legendary legacy. stay at home, play some golf, drink lemonade on the porch in florida... enjoy your retirement.
Dave is a living legend. Honored to have heard him live. Hurts my soul to see him so aged.
You know he is sick ? Apparently has or had some health condition. I forget exactly what but he talked about it on a Joe Rogan podcast.

Love Dave Mustaine and Megadeth ever since i heard Symphony Of Destruction in 1992
Dave is so cold , if the band made it to stardom then clearly everyone in the band is a star .
Seen Megadeth open for Priest in '91 Providence Civic Center. AMAZING!
