- photofonz.com - Using a Nikon D300 camera body mounted to a camera bracket, this video demonstrates some of the different types and advantages of using a camera bracket along with a Bogen Monfrotto plate adapter also called a quick release.
The brackets shown are the JustRite Bracket and Rotator and the Jones Bracket. A Bogen Monfrotto grip action ball head is attached to a Uni-Loc Tripod and can also be used on a monopod.
A Nikon SC-28 TTL cord can also be attached from the camera's hot shoe to the bracket, allowing the flash to be mounted a little higher than it would if it were mounted on the camera.
You can still get them second hand mate, this guy is good, thanks for sharing your experience.
Great info. I have seen that rotating bracket a few times but NEVER any advertising for it. I thought it made so much sense... Thank you for the information...
A great product. I finally found what I was looking for after many years.
Rotating brackets were first used for the purpose of being able to rotate 645 camera bodies such as the Mamiya & Bronicas. Since film cameras are not used as frequently, not sure if they are still made. However, JustRite brackets are hand made by Gary Justice and could possibly custom make any bracket for you if 645 brackets are not in stock. Best to contact the company & find out.
Awesome video just for the rotator itself! I do landscapes and that will save so much time in recomposing the shot!
These brackets ARE available from the Justrite Bracket Co. As of now, there are 2 on ebay as well.
again beautifully done review Sir. great work again !
No problem at all with the lens view when the cord is tucked around the handle section of the bracket.
The bracket I use is similar to the Justrite JRB 471 Pro TM. . On it there is also a rotating bracket. These brackets are made to fit a certain camera body that you will have to specify when you order. When I ordered my rotator for the Nikon D7000 I called the JustRite Company, talked to Gary, who is the owner, and he fixed me right up. This is a great company to do business with. Dear Mr Photofonz,
could you please tell me which bracket for your flashlight do you use ?
and does it fit on a Canon Eos 7D with battery grip ?
the height of a Canon Eos 7D and a battery grip is 16 centimeters.
sorry for my bad english.
i am looking forward to hear of you soon.
yours sincerely.
Will the rotator work with a medium format camera such as a 645 modular Mamiya or Bronica?
What base (with four legs) is that justrite bracket attached to? It's not the standard four flat feet that justrite uses.
This really helped me. Thanks!
I noticed that when you were using the Jones bracket, the TTL was getting in the way a lot of the lens' view. Did/do you have trouble with that?
Very helpful, well explained , thanx
I am going to buy this stuff, honestly! But I had to watch this video 4 times because I could understand what was what because it wasn't very clear! However a good and helpful video! Thanks!
I wouldn't use this just for getting the orientation changed, thats why MAMIYA invented the rotating back on their RB 67 and R Z 67 medium format cameras, a lot easier to change formats.
Thanks alot your help, ideas again.Im sure you will understanding me : I LOVE Rotetor and Grip Action.Good Works
Thankss! Taught me a couple or more things, and I know somebody who'd be interested in this. Thanks!
How does this flash bracket compare to the boomerang flash bracket? Which one is best and what is the cost of the JustRite flash bracket?
I cannot give you an honest review of the Boomerang bracket, as I don't own one and have never used it. Looking at the video on their website though, it looks to be an interesting bracket that is well made and light weight. One thing that the Justrite brackets seem to have over this one is the ease at which the camera can be rotated. Just a turn of the wrist and you can go from horizontal to vertical. The Boomerang bracket seems a bit awkward in that the arm and the flash rotate. You can observe this on the video.
The Justrite bracket and rotator is also very well made and the rotator can be used on a tripod or monopod without the bracket, this allows you to rotate the camera quickly & easily. The Justrite rotator is also very light weight and well engineered.
Their main brackets with rotator & quick release sell for about $346. A lite model is also available for $200 and may be well worth looking at. For more info contact Justrite Bracket Co. at: justritebracket.com/ You will see their brackets listed under "products".
interesting video. thx for sharing!
I have 1 - Sigma 15mm lens, a Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 lens and a Peleng 8mm fisheye made in Belarus. All my other lenses are Nikon "Nikkor" lenses.
Would a good "L" bracket work just as well? That flash bracket you are showing is a bit much for the average hobbyist.
Yes, this bracket shown, along with the Justrite rotating bracket, is way more than what most photo hobbyists need. I use this set up for wedding photography with my main camera. I'll be using it again next Saturday. This bracket allows me to attach my radio control, raises the flash up slightly higher, rotate the camera from vertical to horizontal with a turn of the wrist and the other benefits shown in this video.
Yes, a more economical L bracket may be a better choice for most hobbyists. I also use a simple and light weight Stroboframe bracket that works well for certain applications.
theres some good things here thanks
Continued from above - On the website you will find a bracket called 470 Justrite Pro BM. This bracket is designed specifically for cameras with built in or added on battery grips. This may be the bracket you need, but best to call the JustRite Bracket Company @ Phone 248.477.0592. You can also fill out the form on their "contact us" page and they can tell you what bracket you need.
Great thank you!!!
Do you always use sigma lenses ?
It's a similar bracket to the JustRite but, I believe the company is no longer in business.
Darker colors make me look thinner and younger.
Bit expensive don't you think...price isn't just right.
Only once... That is enough.
it's so difficult to see the camera and equipment details against that black shirt you are wearing. I would suggest wearing a lighter shirt for your videos.
too dark
your video is dark, lighting could have been better.
