Clayton Beach in Larrabee State Park (Short Outdoor Excursions)

Beach hikes require checking the tides. Clayton beach is one of the best beaches in the area, yet it's only enjoyable at low tide. Come any other time and there is no beach. Unfortunately, low tides don't always occur at convenient times. Frequently, the best low tides are in the middle of the night so we have to frequently settle for relatively low tides. Sunday's low tide was about an hour before sunset -- perfect for a short, late-afternoon stroll.
