What else should I review? Also what are some mythology-based Halloween films I might not know about?
I love the Nostalgia critic reference after the second QnA where i asked about him
Scream 22
You said it's new for Micheal to kilp a kid? Did you not see him snap a kids neck in the 2018 one?
Hello there, Mythology guy! I have been a huge fan of all your content for the past couple of years, and I have always enjoyed watching your videos (unlike watching Halloween ends). Regarding mythology based Halloween films, I have something that is relatively close and quite interesting to cover. It is a superhero movie named "El Muerto" from 2007, and it is based on El Muerto from the comic series "El Muerto: the Aztec Zombie", not based on the Marvel character Sony is/was trying to make a movie on. In case you are wondering, Aztec gods play an important role in the story and the film, so it is important to notice the differences from the comic book series, the film, and actual Aztec mythology. If I could ever ask anything from you during my time on Earth, please considering checking out this movie and doing a review, I promise you won't regret it. :)
P.S. Fun fact and small comment to consider for the future, I really love the way you review the God of War games, but apparently Kratos is not based on Cratus from Greek mythology. The developers apparently named the character after the Greek word for strength and power, and didn't discover the existence of Cratus until someone told them afterwards. Who would have guessed?
Anyways, thank you so much for reading this comment if you did, please consider making a review on El Muerto, and I wish you the best of luck in the future. :)
@@gregoryo4417 la Lorena is a great mythology horror film
holloween kills is actually about Micheal myers trying to heroically save humanity from the stupid gene
🤣🤣🤣
A youtuber called DiamindBolt made a joke like that in one of his videos.
Darwin's biggest supporter
He wasn't successful unfortunately.
Mythology Guy is like “I cry because others are stupid and it makes me sad”
I've never seen any of the Halloween films (unless watching this video counts) but I think having his motive be as simple as "he just enjoys killing people" would've been infinitely better than "he likes the view outside of his window"
I think this completely misses the point about Michael Myers, he doesn’t have a motivation. The whole point behind the guy, his generic mask with the blank expression, his lack of dialogue, the fact that we never see his face (outside of one brief scene at the end of John Carpenter’s Halloween), is that he’s a mystery. Everything about him is mystery. This is what Rob Zombie’s films never understood. He’s essentially an animal in human form. He’s more great white shark than Ted Bundy.
@@samuelbarber6177 More like he's a vector for the slasher villain trope as a whole. A blank canvas that has whatever motivation you give him. He's only as much a mystery as you want him to be just as he is as supernatural as you want to believe him to be.
I agree with the idea of him liking to kill people but no the people who made the movie basically just threw it out the window
The Halloween Franchise is like people trying to take a good recipe from a cook book or a famous chef, but they to add their own twist on it. Sometimes the results can pretty good, but most of the time it just doesn't taste quite right.
The accuracy and simplicity of your statement makes me so happy lmao ✨
In some of them the twist is feces
Same can be said about the jurassic park movies after the first one
@@thegearsparten The first Jurasic World had some merit of "what would it look like if thte Park got up and running"
Acting like limited numbers of dinos running loose in the world would be a real threat for long? That's a load of baloney. They wouldn't be able to get far, a lot of climates would be poor for them, and modern firepower would make mincemeat of them. Navy subs would be arguing over who gets to kill giant sea dinos with a spread of torpedoes and mount the remaining bones at base.
@@bthsr7113 ya which Is why I consider it the second best
Honestly, the only ‘gripe’ I have with the firefighter scene is that when we see Michael getting hit with the hose, he didn’t stumble. On one hand he’s getting hit with thousands of psi all over his torso, which would cause even the strongest person to fall on their ass. But on the other hand, he’s practically unkillable so it’s not too out of the question that he’s just this mythic being where physics don’t apply to him. But still one of my fav scenes of the movie and saddest deaths besides the escaped inmate.
I watched this movie with my dad, and he is a Fire Chief, and we both laughed our asses off that at least ten fire fighters got their asses handed to him by this guy.
@@dylantennant6594 And from what i know of the PSI of a fire hose, that would disintegrate and flesh from his body, no?
@@ruairiodonohoe2533 His absurd healing factor would just shrug that off. He can survive acid running through his veins and dozens of gunshots, he can probably survive that.
@@darthgames3 A gsw wound is one thing but this water would litereally disintigrate him before he got the chance to heal
@@ruairiodonohoe2533 He also has superhuman durability. I think the scene itself shows that.
I’m gonna be honest- I really would have liked an anthology Halloween series. I would’ve been fine with two movies with Michael and then the rest just - other stories
Oh for definite. We could have legit interesting stories, but no, we have to have basically the same film done a dozen times and none of them have been as good as the original. This is why I am going to die on the hill that Season of the Witch is the second best of the franchise.
Trick or Treat is a horror movie that does that
@@insomniagobrrr5542 I know
@@malevolentghost5734 ok, just wanted to recommend a movie similar to what you described
@@insomniagobrrr5542 thank you for that
I feel like the plot to Halloween Kills (with some tweaks to the script) would have made a better conclusion to the new trilogy.
The first one mainly focused on Lori and her family. In the sequel they could have had the cast expand to the other legacy characters, the other people directly impacted by Micheals murders in the very first movie. One of the legacy characters was even a nurse, so she could be working at the hospital when Lori was brought in and warn the others that Lori was injured by Micheal again. Everyone goes to make sure Lori is alright, then they all hear Michael survived the fire. The newly formed legacy crew can then go on a hunt for Michael.
Lori’s wound can even be an important plot point. Have Lori fix herself up quickly before she heads out with the crew, only to have her injury get progressively worse throughout the movie, until it completely reopens at the climax. The legacy characters will then have to forfeit the hunt in order to save Lori, letting Michael escape.
Then in the third and final movie, they rally the whole town to take down Michael. Everyone gangs up on him in the end, but have Lori finish it. Maybe even take off his mask to see his face for the first time before Lori delivers the killing blow.
And his motivation could still be to go after Lori, even without the familial connection. He could just want to finish what he started all those years ago.
(Sorry this was a long one 😅, had a lot of thoughts)
Sounds amazing! 👏🏻
And I am not a horror movie fan!
Those are some good thoughts
Ok, I Definitely appreciate your intro as the Halloween franchise was indeed a rollercoaster in terms of following the continuity and making sense of the reboots! I have been evasive to Michael Myers due to the franchise's confusion and could never take him as seriously as Jason or my other boy Freddy. That said, thank you for this video! Its greatly appreciated and I hope you have a great Halloween! 🎃
I haven’t seen any of the Halloween movies but watching your videos on them seems a lot better than actually watching. Thank you for making these
The first is really good.
You should watch 2018 the first one is good
So was this one. Fuck the studio even told you that this one may suck a little
List of the only halloween movies worth watching :
Halloween(og)
Halloween 2
Halloween 3
Halloween H2O
Halloween(2018)
The first two are great. 1978 and 1981
It’s like two beautiful pictures being drawn by talented artists and then handed to a rampaging angry toddler.
I didn’t even realize Laurie wasn’t his sister anymore.
I definitely agree with you that the second movie should be considered canon, including the second movie could make Laurie's trauma and ptsd(not that she wouldn't have it either way) of Michael alot stronger in the 2018 movie, it also would've made more sense for her to be preparing for Michael to return again as Michael came to the hospital to kill her, I think it would've improved her reasoning to prepare that much
15:21 I love how even Micheal took a moment to process the stupidity before him.
Michael: Okay. So, you’re all bumbling idiots.
"You're trying to have some sort of deep message in your movie, and it doesn't work - because it relies on people being the dumbest dummies that ever dumbed in the history of dumbassery!"
This is so wonderfully said... couldn't agree more!!
As a favorite RUclipsr short maker once said. *THIS MAN GOT JUMPED BY THE WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD!!!*
Classic man D?
@@drakelucian3685 yep!
15:24 I just find it funny how Michael just straight up walks out to her and just like you forgot to take if it's loaded
Also with mythology guy Michael kills a child in Halloween 2018 just saying
28:44 I loved that you made them idiots in this one!!!!😂 oh dude you just made my Halloween!!😂
"GiViNg MiChEaL a MoTiVaTiOn lIkE LaUrEy BeInG hIs SiStEr MaKeS hIm LeSs ScArY!!"
Well for this whole story to work, that motivation would make a lot more sense. Michael is still a rampaging killer regardless, just with a goal in mind.
Yes! I never got that point, he is still a mindless killer but he wants to finish his original killing spree by ending his sister and he would destroy everyone in his attempt to do so
Facts 💯
I think "wants to stare out a window" makes him a lot less scary
@@carolusrex5213plus we find out he didn’t care about Laurie. He never was trying to finish her off. Everyone including her implanted her into the story. Love how it’s mentioned she spent all her life reclusive for no reason.
It makes him less scary because it makes the killings personal and thus humanises him. It doesn't work for him anymore than giving a Lovecraftian Horror a revenge plot works for it. The horror of Michael is that you DON'T matter to him. This isn't personal. He will commit horrible, violent murder and you will remember it for the rest of your life.
For him... it was tuesday.
I always feel entertained every time you sit there and explain stuff like this anything to do with mythology or monsters. good job honestly
EVIL DIES TONIGHT! God, I got so tired of hearing that every five minutes.
Bruh Michael really just kicked a car door and caused a girl to shoot herself in the head.
Yeah it's that easy
I thought that was dumb too. The first person Michael kills on accident.
I think that was intended as comedy...or at least I hope so since it definitely made me chuckle.
pulled a buster scruggs on the guy
To be fair to the dumb characters, when I started hearing weird noises under my house I tried to fight it too. (Thankfully it was just a possum & not a giant serial killer.)
Fun fact: Halloween was originally supposed to be called The babysitter murders and the reason why he killed his sister is because she did a crap job at watching him it's all in the title.
i think the bit of the 1978 flashback where actually my favorite parts of the film.
Love your movie reviews. I know the whole mythology theme but you’re pretty good at it.
One of my favorite kinds of videos is people talking about horrible movies. Such a beautiful tradition
You may be my favorite review channel ever to the amount of all out creativity you put into your videos
Evil dies tonight! Wait, lives. No, dies! Wait..
I don't know how Andrew got that insider video of the writers room lol
Yea, gotta admit I agree with you completely. My brother loves it and when he told me how good it was, I got a bit excited. I no longer accept his movie recommendations...
Ive watched your "Heracles" and "God of War" videos sooo many times but i love when you change it up like this
The Mythology Guy could you do a comparison of death notes shinigami to Mythology shinigami. Death notes also a great show. Also I like this video keep up the good work.
Let me just say that I haven’t enjoyed a review as much as I have enjoyed yours. I wholeheartedly love this review. It was open and honest. This was more entertaining than Halloween Ends. Opps sorry 😊
It would be good if they just straight up said that Michael Myers is a new member of some sort of ancient killing machines. Kinda like Ghost rider.
I actually loved the Rob Zombie movies, I loved how brutal and cruel Mike was, it made him appear incredibly intimidating
The first one was good. The second? Not so much.
@@grantpflum6844 yeah the second one was weird, but the kills were brutal
They were so annoying everyone was just Rob Zombie let's just scream and say fuck
Nice Jack-o-lantern Suit
Rags on the Halloween naming scheme and unintentionally names the next Halloween movie.. Halloween: Die Faster
Also, there were several points in this video were you turned into Jeff Garland. You legit had my ass in tears. Well done, man.
Regarding the town's people, Dr wolfula made a fair point how it's showing what mob mentality can do to people and love, definitely not a big fan of it but can get why
That suit is both a national treasure and a national disaster. I love it, and I want one.
It was probably like showing like a small detail of the small Jon and big Jon with the small knife and big knife
I've literally only seen your shorts, but now I want the whole package.... wait...🤔
How are these two ten year olds not afraid of him and are so nonchalant and cheerful while bringing him up. Children are such terrifying creatures.
Also I really hate about this movie is that it kinda take away from the Mires is evil incarnate and stuff. More of his kills should have been like the cop where after he dies he doesnt give a shit about it and goes for the next kills, Mires doesnt want to be "artistic" with the kills, be dramatic or kill out of emotion, he kills cause thats his motivation and everything that he cares about, he isnt motivate to kill to look at the fucking window, he kills cause he kills.
No Michael Myers
I feel like the part where he's surrounded by the mob he gets beat so easily because he lets them. It doesn't even look like he's trying to fight back, and he's easily able to kill them all once he grabs the knife/'tries' to kill them. It might just be another intimidation tactic or he's 'playing' with them
...14:56...Uh, no, that's not new. Did you forget that Michael hid behind the seat of the truck and snapped the boy's neck in the 2018 version too? 🤨
If I were the director in that cop scene I'll make the cop Shout as soon as he find out the footprints then michael Appear out of nowhere pinning him down
I think it will be cool
30:20 to 30:24 the amount of time i've replayed this clip. also didn't know peter tried blackface, now i know. thanks mythology guy :). i'm kinda curious what michael would do if you burned the mask in front of him and he had no replacement would he pull a Jason and put a burlap sack over his head with one eyes hole. also shot in the dark but is the bad horror Christmas movie your reviewing the black sabbath remake?
Gotta love more Michael Myers, can’t get enough of the slasher genre. Shame film companies insist on ruining it and prioritising money over, I don’t know, A GOOD STORY
cough cough halloween ends cough cough
To be fair, that applies to most of these films. If studios weren’t so money hungry, we would have just gotten that anthology series, which would be the better timeline.
Original Anthology Stories
Can we all agree that Micheal Myers is pretty much the Goku of Horror movie villains ?
No Michael Myers
@@DanielMussen-ob7uo huh?
happy Halloween!
Your first
I watched Halloween Ends with my boyfriend and his buddies over discord, it was the least scary horror movie I'd ever seen. It might make a fun video for next year's halloween!
Happy Halloween TMG!
Don’t forget: there are comics and a TV series for the storyline which add stuff that gets retconned in the movies.
I believe he's motivation is that she is the only person that has survived him and that's why he's after her
Hey dude i love your videos I'm a huge fan of mythology and your content is awsome.
Finally it’s here, the angry rant I was ready for. :D
Its funny how they talk like fantasy characters lmaoooo
"Evil dies tonight"
"We fight, we always fight"
"You stood up to that monster"
I mean, this is Skyrim levels of camp
Mythology guy looking fire in the pumpkin suit
That door kick was so goofy that I laughed in the theater.
Honestly I'd attack him if he killed my partner so yeah... I'd of left soon as I knew someone was there with my partner but once blood is spilt I'm only seeing red. I'm far too emotional
Nice review! I'd give it a 4 out of 10 personally.
By the way, speaking of horroor stuff do you think you could do a review of Vampyr? It ties vampire lore with a tad of Arthurian kegend and it would be interesting to see your take on it!
15:57 this was just a different level of stupid
not only does she try and get up close (defeats the purpose of a gun) , not only does she aim one handed with a desert eagle (if she missed shots using both hands, using one won't help) but if the door knocked the gun away it would likely just fire to the side not do a full 180 turn around
It would've made more sense if say she got out the car tried to shoot him through the window but he grabbed her hand forced it back towards her and made her shoot herself
In my eyes the first origonal 2 movies are the only ones in existence.
John Carpenters Halloween 31|10|1963 and 31|10|1982 and 31|10|2025
Mythguy Critic : " Hello and I'm the Mythguy Critic, I bring up the past so you do remember it!
. . .In a funny way. "
I think the worse part about Kills is that, the kills and Michael were fun and cool to me but every else was disappointing. Then Ends came along and (without spoilers) I only liked ironically the end. The movie just made say eh while Kills I enjoyed the kills. That's just me, have a happy Halloween everybody
Just in time for the holiday.
My fav RUclipsr fr
I really like that suit u got on! It looks really nice on u!
I love your vids
That end part might have been him thinking letting them think they got him then jumping back when they thought he was done . Still dumb but decent excuse
I imagine they're so scared cause they've just straight up never had a killer in their town? Plus the whole immortal thing he has going on, least they reconned him getting shot up
That or tommy and the other victims hyped him up as a literal monster
Can you please make a short/video about the buck ridders?
I agree with you on the anger about Halloween 2 not being canonical multiple times while watching the 2018 movie I wanted it to be canon to at least make Halloween end a Little and I do mean a LITTLE bit better
13:00 According to the Dead Meat Kill Count, it should actually be 14 people.
I WAS ONE OF THE ONES WHO VOTED FOR THAT OUTFIT! LOOKIN SHARP!
Honestly I think it makes sense to cover a Halloween movie on this channel. The way I see it is that Michael Meyers is practically a living legend in every since of the word. His name and deeds have marked the town of Haddonfield in a manner similar to an urban legend or a town folktale.
Michael is not only a seemingly unstoppable serial killer, he is like a scar on the town itself that no matter what will always leave that deep, permanent mark on an otherwise quaint little town that until his crimes, "Never had anything bad happen in it."
He is the Shape, the Boogeyman, the little boy in the body of a man with the eyes of the devil, he is Michael Meyers.
Lovin the non mythology related videos all two of them both related to Halloween
Great video. Also, Happy Halloween! 🎃
ok cool but can we talk about that pumpkin suit, it looks dapper as all hell
Ok now you gotta make a Halloween 2018 review lol
Maybe Michael doesn’t want to kill but he can’t stop himself because we’ve seen a tear on his face a couple times
Maybe he’s just an animal. The Lion can’t tell you why he eats the antelope. He just does.
@@samuelbarber6177I always got the feeling that Myers was just an emotionless person who can only take pleasure in killing.
The first two Halloween movies really should've just been left alone is what we've learned
I totally agree about your thoughts on Halloween II if you only count the original movie he killed 4 people that day bit if you include the sequel the body count goes up to 13.
Now that was a review I enjoyed watching - Well done 👏 I too was itching to rewatch the original Halloween after seeing Kills and Ends that I rewatched just that on Halloween
I have that same Classics of Horror book. Also had their Lovecraft and Poe Collections in College. BTW, like the suit. You should go as David S Pumpkin for Halloween
It isn't a movie (it's a video game) but what are your thoughts on reviewing Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy?
Hey can you please do a review on the Blood Of Zeus please
I’d like to hear a experts opinion about and how accurate it is to actual Greek mythology
10:31
Everyone when Morbius built up Spider-Man and Adrian Tombes.
I haven't seen halloween kills yet but tommy is starting to be Dr.loomis from the '78 film.
Personally I agree with ya Kills isn't perfect but honestly I like it even with the hospital mob scenes lol. I haven't seen ends yet heard opinions wondering if a extended version because well I think Halloween kills got them. But 2018 or ends no extended cut as of yet.
Happy Halloween 🎃 🎃 everyone
Mythology guy has maximum Halloween drip
Ngl, Halloween Kills really disappointed me when I saw it in the theater. It felt like the ones that they brought back were killed off anticlimatically and I felt like the more we saw of Michael Myers, the less tension that I feel since he's better in small doses.
it's funny you mentioned nostalgia critic near the start because this had a very good feel of early nostalgia critic back when he made good content instead of inane amounts of low-budget skits that barely have to do with the movie he's reviewing.
Keep up the good work
Coming back here a year later, still a great review of this garbage. At 10:58, fun fact, Halloween (2018) has a deleted scene (which you can see on RUclips too BTW) where Cameron and Allyson actually make up after the party scene where he apologizes before being driven away by police and it is done *so much better* than the rushed "reunion" in this movie.
As a bonus, it renders both Halloween Kills and Ends as impossible to have happened. LOL
Bro this is the best face camera quality I've ever seen
That is a great window to stare at
15:58 - Michael used reverse UNO Card... super effective!
Great review happy belated Halloween
Honestly if the movie ended with Michael standing behind that chick in the window, would have been a better ending (imo)....but that can't save the rest of the film and the rest of the franchise and adaptation on this franchise.
