I was just wondering how the other 2 General Lee builds were going. I'm really glad that I watched your video because I was having a hard time finding correct looking General Lee decals until I saw the ones that you used and I've been a dedicated customer to MCI Racing when it comes to General Lee decals.
I bought a 3d file for that. I'll have more details once I get the video done & published. That one is a significant project and I had to completely start over on it, so I'm way behind.
As for the Malibu international ones, they went for about $80 back then, but they also offered a 1/24 or 1/25 scale, which went for about as much as you mentioned. Both were fairly fun until you inevitably stripped the gears. They even came with a "try me" button for the horn I used to mount on my bike.
I have a 1/10 Malibu but when I try and drive it it makes sort of a whining noise, is that a stripped gear? It works fine upside down. I was thinking of swapping the body onto a new chassis, would I be able to put it onto the fazer charger?
Great video.....lot of option for decals....I ordered some perfect decs from a place call east coast vinyl werkz.....perfect size.....great price too....can't wait to see hoe this one turns out.....have fun and be safe👍
Lots of options for decals, but most of them have one thing or another that's not correct. The Vinyl Werkz decals look great except the license plate is wrong. That's a really minor complaint though. The main benefit to the MCI is the variety of sizes they're available in. For the 4 cars, I ended up with 2 sets of 1/10 scale, one 1/12 scale and one 1/13 scale.
Great idea for a video series, SUBSCRIBED! Looking forward to your builds. I need to update my website a bit and with permission I'd like to link to your channel/videos. Only one question....will they see any ramps? Lol! (if you're referencing the Bluant General Lee wheels they are worth every penny, very well done!)
@@jamesmower1852 I see them for the RC10, also short course options, but I don't see anything in a 1.9 hex other than the aluminum option. Maybe I'm missing something?
Ok not sure where to start. The right wheels 3d printed vector with hpi 4793 tire not discontinued. 3d printed center piece for the grill on the kyosho. The proper decals with white trim . With this set up I got John Schneider to put my videos on his Facebook page I got millions of views on tiktok and he commented on. My videos so with John Schneider's approval I think the kyosho is the way to go..if u disagree then your to much of a purists. It's all about the spirit of the show John will tell u that him self good luck. Good video 👍
What is the wheelbase on those? I'm building a Kyosho 1/10 PureTen GP FW-06 Chassis (nitro-powered) and I want to make it a General Lee. This car needs a body with a 258mm wheelbase. What body do you recommend?
Thanks for all your information in this video. I reached out to Team Blue Groove, and they told me that they don't make this body anymore. Anyway, I'm going to try the APlastics one, and we'll see how it goes. @BudgetRC_Channel
@OrcaBoat3 wow, that's surprising. It figures because I'm still working on getting my build with that body done and on the channel, and now it might be of no value to people.
@@BudgetRC_Channel This is what they said in an email: "Unfortunately, we don't make it. The charger touring mould was damaged and has been discontinued." 😮💨
The Malibu body is the same wheelbase, but the Fazer chassis is too wide for the Malibu body to fit. You need to stretch a narrower chassis to work with the Malibu.
Can't wait to watch and learn how to do a fairly accurate general Lee, that yes I will street bash with so looking for a exact replica and a close to replica to run in the street, I'd also love to do the same with Smokey and the bandit trans am a a few other cars from my past, I have no real experience with modded bodies I usually buy a body, put some of my own touches on it and call it good, but would love to build a great replica one day, Obviously it might take time to get to the level that I need to be at.
I've looked into Smokey and the Bandit, and if my General Lee videos do well enough I want to venture into some other tv & movie builds. The HPI body is about all that's available, and it doesn't look great. I'm working on doing some 3d printed bodies, but they're such a hassle that I really need to ne in the right frame of mind to do it.
I'm not sure if I've seen it. I saw a Jada Toys monster truck RC version, but it looked pretty awful, and would still need some sort of hobby grade chassis conversion. There's also not anything that you can do about the molded supercharger sticking out of the hood.

This is exactly what i was hoping to find! I want a general lee so badly! Im 45 and absolutely loved dukes of hazard so thanks for making this

Question.. where are you going to get either an amc matador or Plymouth satellite/fury 4door for roscoes car??

The 10th scale cars were more initially, but a lot of people got them for $30-35 when they went on clearance after they had run their course.
@@BudgetRC_Channel ah, that makes sense.

When ordering the decals from MCI racing, do you order them with the gloss finish or the matte finish?
Sorry, just seeing this now. I went with the gloss, but they're not super glossy.

Have you checked out the Jay concept hazard aluminum beadlock Wheels
I saw them after I finished filming this. They look like a good option if your pockets are deep enough. I wish they made a plastic set.
@@BudgetRC_Channel they do make a plastic version but I don't feel they look as realistic

The kyosho bodies are 275mm. The Team Blue Groove and APlastiks bodies are the standard 250mm wheelbase, which is probably as close as you'll get.

I built mine out of the hardbody withe the right rims and its got full interior ect with brushless motor
I ended up with 3 hard bodies and 3 different chassis, so that should be a pretty interesting video when I get to those
