I played against a Druid doing this and thought it was kinda cool because I was like well at least it's not Jade Druid, but then after I cleared all his giants he just played Gadgetzan and two Jade Idols and got like 9/9 golems and I wanted to kill myself.

Personally really hate this combo because I can't be bothered crafting four or five more epic cards to play a degenerate combo that most likely will be patched. I also hate it because the combo is good. Yes.
Jylon Grandy It really isn't even that good. Most people just don't know how to play around it. It gets crushed by aggro and midrange decks and Reno Priest.

I like that. It feels a lot more like magic.Only complain I have is that it is the first deck to do sick stuff consistently. There should be more of those decks in wild.
Knowing how is blizzard, those decks will die as soon as they come. Also, there have been already sick shit on hearthstone, but nerfs came and left darkness and waste.

So the only class that can beat this is
1) Paladin: equality
2) Priest: Lightbomb
3) Freeze Mage: Doomsayer + Frost Nova, can easily be countered by silence.
4) Mill Rougue with vanish but only after a full hand.
Unless you're playing Aggro, you're screwed.

Just played against this yesterday. Thought it must have been a bug. Turns out, no, Blizzard is just THAT stupid.

If a cards mana cost is set, like with the effect of the naga, and you reduce the cost of the spell with emperor or something in that vein, the cost of the card will change. This is the correct interaction, and makes the most sense. Inconsistency is an issue, this is a part to fixing that issue.

good old blizzard logic, murders dreadsteed because of an "op" 11 mana combo that clears the whole board, but INTENTIONALLY leaves a 5 mana combo that puts a bunch of 8/8s on your board. So stupid.
11 mana? What else do you need besides dreadsteed and defile to clear the entire board?
blizzard nerfed dreadsteed because of this 11 mana combo: dreadsteed (4) + knife juggler (2) + defile (2) + deathspeaker on the juggler (3). it would deal around 14 damage (defile limit), clear the board, and leave a 1/1 and a 2/2, and would require 1 thaurissan tick to be viable. compared to the famous leeroy + manipulator combo that costs the same amount, requires less cards, and deals 20 damage.
but leeroy cant clear the board/get past taunts so you can play around it
it's still a very powerful combo, since dealing 20 damage in one turn can kill the enemy easily
Dreadstead wasn't nerfed because of that , it was nerfed because 6 mana deal deal 14 dmg to all minions , even highest life minions can't survive Defile + dreadstead combo Even ultrasaur with 14 HP was dead with Defile Dreadstead
Honestly by wild standards, this doesn't even feel that broken. Yeah, it's GOOD and definitely viable but the variants are brutally high and no offense but some of these people played against were morons - that druid that wasted all two bloody removal cards on a bloody doomsayer while he had what was effectively an empty board could have killed the naga siren then there'd have been no 5 mana call of the wild.
It's also very all in. If this fails the only late-game is the Deathstalker Rexxar which while good, it IS in wild and wild has some crazy shit going on for it.
And if this truely is OP then most classes do have a 'removal all minions at a cost' type effective - frost nova/blizzard + doomsayer, equality + cons/pyro, twisting nether, priests death knight, brawl, poison seeds (optionally with starfall following), debatably vanish.
And those are just the conventional clears. Things like spreading plague +twisting and the like can also be pulled off.
Honestly, it's only a wild-tier combo, I say let wild have it - it's fun and despite peoples whinging it IS interactive - there's no charge or instagib - you get a chance to kill those giants and the naga the turn after they come out, if you didn't put removal in your deck or didn't draw it then there are plenty of other cards that'd have killed you on that turn too.
graveeking yeah sure, cause turn 5 5/5 plus two 8/8s is super easy to remove. Can you please tell me the 5 mana board clear that I get to play against that. Oh wait, there isn't an easy answer. Sure the clears you mention work, but they cost more mana than the combo. Combo gets dropped turn 5 there is very little answers outside of specifically frost-doom and equality-pyro

The main problem isn't the fact that it's broken (and it kinda is). It's the fact that this interaction is just plain wrong and nonsensical. Naga sea witch change the cost of all cards to 5 as a STATIC EFFECT. Meaning the card's cost shouldn't change while its on the board unless you play another minion with a similar static effect like Aviana. Then I guess it overrides it. I think Bizzard made a mistake.
Ben Whitecombe I never said it was super easy to remove on turn 5 - but that's VERY specific combo you mentioned, now considering these are showcase games - he only managed to get that combo off once - and the only reason that worked as well as it did is that druid was a numpteen who wasted most of his removal on a doomsayer and so couldn't kill the siren which is what ACTUALLY won him the game. Every other game was either only one giant out, or it was out later than turn 5.
Sometimes you need to throw down more stuff early to slow down aggro, so mountian giants won't work - and again against aggro they may not have the hand for clockwork giant to work either. Sea giants you're relying mostly on your opponent overcommiting... but if you're putting down sea giants because your enemy has a lot of minions then those minions can just clear the sea giant(s)...
And if it's JUST a 5 mana two card combo for a 5/5 and 8/8 on average then... eh? We've had a **4** mana 7/7 in the meta and that isn't even played in standard that often anymore and that comes out one turn earlier and doesn't require specific setup or combos. You're paying an extra card (and huge unreliability) for an extra 6/6 in stats and it's one turn later and it makes almost entirely the rest of the cards in your hand cost more AND it's in wild where there are more options available.
And to top it all off the fact is there are ample taunts and delays and just being able to clear the naga or one giant is usually good enough given that the rest of the deck is just setup outside of Deathstalker rexxar and that card is really good but really slooow.
You're also not considering that they do nothing to affect the board state the turn they come out. Most decks will HAVE a board to start trading in to clear the siren or taunt up.
But honestly, if you want to know one really OP neutral card that can deal really well with two 8/8s? Annoyotron. Maybe even a cheeky sludge-belcher if you want a card that's also effective versus other decks.
All you gotta do is buy yourself time - because this is the only thing the deck does. Sure it does this one thing really well but it IS all it does. It's a high-roll deck with large variants and just one combo that isn't guaranteed to get the kill.
Last but not least this isn't a 'package' this is DECK. This isn't an OP combo package that you can throw into any old control or midrange deck for massive value - no no, you need the card draw for both yourself and your opponent as well as all the removal to even have hopes of surviving that long. It DEFINES the deck - it isn't part of it, it IS the deck. It is the one and only win condition - it's basically very similar to the Barnes + yashraj combo. If you draw the exact right cards you get a massive board very suddenly, draw the wrong cards and your hand is only slighty less dead that you'll be in a few turns.
ANYWAYS this is getting rambly. But look I know where you're coming from, I can understand your concerns and I wouldn't even be annoyed if they did nerf this. But I'll just leave it by saying simply put - there's more to hearthstone than just raw stats.

Yeah, the combo makes the naga synergy instant tier 1 in wild.
People saying it's stupid, but if the Witch makes your cards base cost a 5 then the Giant effect comes into play after. It's all intentional, and fairly logical, just kinda busted.
While its a very strong combo, it has some limiters :
1- Its only possible turn 5 or 4 with coin. This allows the opponent to build a board pre-giantdrop.
2- They don't have charge. This allows the opponent to react to the combo, unlike OTKs.
3- It relies on drawing specific cards. Namely, the one card they changed. And you can only have 2 in your 30 cards. Then, you need to also draw some giants, ideally at least 2.
4- If you have too many giants, you could then just have a bunch of dead cards in your hand, which can be death-sentence vs aggro. If you have not enough giants, you might just draw them too late.
5- Its only in wild, which is obviously not the format they're focusing on balancing and has many other very insane decks (hence the "wild").
Plus, its nice to see some cards finally see play in constructed. Naga Sea Witch effect was often a drawback and was mostly seen as a bad card.
what comfortably counters this? only thing I can come up with is reno priest/warlock twisting nether and po+shadowflame ?

Love how there's not really any mention of this in the actual game client, if it wasn't for this video I probably would not have known this but I'm glad Blizzard is looking out for Neanderthals like myself by changing Fiery War Axe to 3 mana instead of changing it by putting some text on the card and making it interesting because apparently according to blizzard most players aren't that smart so a lot of them wouldn't be able to read the text anyways

i've tried broken druid version of the "naga sea witch deck" on the last week and the win rate was 20-1 ish (rank 22 and up - dont play wild much) it feels like anything related to druid is absurdly broken

Jakub Skonieczny Naga Sea Witch used to override the giant's cost mechanics with 5 Mana. A recent change has made it so that the giant's cost reduction happens after the Naga cost reduction. This lets people drop 0 cost mountain giant's off 5 cards in hand and 0 cost Molten giant's off 25 health once Sea Witch is in play.
They just changed Naga Sea Witch in the most recent patch.

I think this would be strong with molten giants... You only have to be at 25 hp for them to cost 0 mana.. Would be insane with warlock because you tap for the first few turns anyway

That is what I have been doing and it works great, still many advantages to various classes while still using combo. His hunter deck was actually pretty good since tracking and stitched tracker were really useful. Also was using Death Knight as back up plan against control match-ups (priest light bomb for example) where they somehow remove his giants. My brother originally pointed out the (new) interaction to me, and he ran paladin jousting, nice removal, and heals, but more dependent on lucky draws, since card draw is more difficult.

Also, this interaction makes no sense. Naga sea witch effect sets the cost of cards to 5. It's a static effect, unlike Bright-eyed Scout where it changes the cost of the card drawn to 5, then the mana cost can change. It should be 5 no matter what in buid cost reduction the card has. This just adds more incosistencies to the game...

Giants Handlock is so fuckin degenerate, on turn 5 this guy played a 5/5 Naga and 5 8/8s, two mountains, two moltens and a sea giant. Its my turn 5 as a Reno Priest, ive got lightbomb in hand and i was dead on board next turn from full health AFTER playing a Belcher. Thanks Blizzard.

Built a similar deck but with druid. And i gotta say that it's too op. Priest can counter this, warlock can counter this. But that's about it. Other classes attempt to do anything and are crushed. Pirate warrior stood no chance lol
I love the fact Blizzard is puting out more combos. I can understand why they where careful though, since Hearthstone only allows very limited interaction. But I think creature-combo and toolbox decks are very cool (for example Kiki-Chord in mtg) and could very possibly be a new Hunter-theme, which would fit the class very well.

Obviously this is too strong. That being said, I think the change is logical and that the Giant change should be kept, but Naga should be nerfed to keep it in check.
