Working on this at the moment, really helpful, I have that parallel position way behind my right leg, can’t wait to unlock some more speed

The better player is swinging the shaft the other is attempting to move the clubhead.

How do you fix this problem?

Hand speed is created by the bottom hand ….the problem for most handicap golfers is they lead the swing with the top hand ….the engine for right handed is the right hand and left for left handed golfers .

great video - very informative and so surprised by the numbers. Any way to know what the arm speed is?

YesI the swinger has the most leverage to get the hands moving from the top to “shaft point to the ball” position. But this
Is works out. Think of a lead fishing weight on the end of a string. To twirl that weight you need to move your twirling hand a lot, but once the weight is started moving in an orbit around the twirling hand you can keep twirling and even continue to accelerate with less movement of the twirling hand. The hands (arms involved too) are “twirling the clubhead” like it is a lead fishing weight on a string.

The difference in the max hand speed position happens because the pro posts up early on the lead leg where as the amateur is still posting up even through impact. Simple explanation. The amateur would see the correct hand speed position if he had the proper sequence in his swing.

That’s amazing. I knew where maximum hand speed was in the swing; just didn’t realize that 40% is lost by impact.

Can you tell me, are you saying at halfway down, the Pro starts slowing their hands down so the club then speeds up. Where as the armature continues to maintain hand speed all the way to the impact in an attempt to hit the ball further and therefore the clubhead does not get a chance to speed up? Like snapping a towel, the hand has to slow down for the towel to pass it and snap. Or is there some other reason for the difference in hand speed between the two from halfway to impact. Very informative. Thanks You!!

Exactly, I think the whip metaphor is the right one. There has to be an energy transfer which has to have both the speed up and the brakes to work. Like if you shoot a slingshot, the projectile stays in the slingshot’s pocket as the band goes forward. It isn’t until the band hits the breaks that the projectile goes flying because the energy is transferred. Or just slamming the brakes on your car. This idea of putting on the breaks has really helped my club head speed. The hands are the thing that get in my way. I’ll try to manipulate the handle too much, my wrists stiffen and prevent that energy transfer. The whip is completely flexible and why it’s so good at that energy transfer.

Yet when watching pros swinging, they all seem like they are swinging out of their shoes! Ive yet to see any gradually swinging the driver.

I would like to see these numbers on a world class tour player. I don’t need to see it from someone that might not even be able to beat me.

AMG golf has a video on "tour timing" that shows the exact thing as this.
