Robert Merton is a model of clear thinking. This is an insightful video. One takeaway is we need better trained managers in the financial industry, rather than dumbing down financial innovation.

I am amazed that such thinkers live among us. More amazed that they sometimes their wisdom reset the thinking in our minds and force us to challenge our existing notions. Challenge is when working earnings are not enough to cover current expenses saving 20-33% is replaced with borrowing .
