Thank you Steve Ray. For those who would like to go on a pilgrimage, and you don't have the money to travel far, find a Catholic Shrine or another special Catholic place. Bring a prayer book or two, your Rosary and your opened heart. Take a few days to talk to, listen, and experience Our Lord. If the Holy Eucharist is exposed, and Mass is available please take advantage of that. God bless.
Thank you for your kind words. What do you mean by, "If the Holy Eucharist is exposed"? I apologize for my ignorance. I have not grown up in this tradition. Thank you
I am so happy that you made this point. It saddens me that so many devout Catholics cannot afford to go on a Pilgrimage! It is within us to yearn to…and, I pray for them. 🙏🕊️
For filling the Great Commission . . .Mark 16:15 Living on a Sainte-terre-ers Pilgrimage... We must beware of thinking too much about our meals, our furniture, our houses, and all those many things which concern the life of the body. We must strive to live like people whose first thoughts are about the immoral soul. We must endeavor to pass through the world like people who are not yet home, and are not so troubled about the fare they meet with on the road and the inn. Blessed are they who feel like Pilgrims and Strangers in this life, and whose best things are all to come . . .Hodos! -J.C. Ryle The word “saunter,” which means to “wander about,” is derived from Saint Terre (Holy Land). The connection is this: After the age of the catacombs, with the ascent of Constantine and Theodosius to the imperial Roman throne, Christians were free to make pilgrimages to Palestine. This was always a dangerous journey, especially after the seventh century and the rise of Islam, drawing all sorts of wayfarers: the genuinely pious, the penitents, the adventurers, the seekers of fortune, and the runners from justice. Usually the pilgrims traveled in caravans for safety. The French coined the word saunter to describe such peripatetic meanderings of vagabond types on their way to Saint Terre. ... I don't like either the word [hike] or the thing. People ought to saunter in the mountains - not 'hike!' Do you know the origin of that word saunter? It's a beautiful word. Away back in the middle ages people used to go on pilgrimages to the Holy Land, and when people in the villages through which they passed asked where they were going they would reply, 'A la sainte terre', 'To the Holy Land.' And so they became known as sainte-terre-ers or saunterers. Now these mountains are our Holy Land, and we ought to saunter through them reverently, not 'hike' through them. -John Muir . . . Do you have any pilgrimages planned this year in 2023 after the Covid?
Greetings of the day, could you let us know about the geographical effects of pilgrimage on a local area or community

"God is Spirit, and His worshipers must worship Him in spirit and in truth" (John 4:24)
Why can't it be both a physical and spiritual journey?
@@ThatNerdyCatholic It can, by all means, but we must examine our motives.
Gautama Buddha , the most spiritually endowed man went on a pilgrimage and during his pilgrimage he was enlightened. He attained Nirvana
God bless those who take great effort to seek Him even though God can be everywhere. A physical journey will deepen a spiritual journey.
