    Thank you for this video! I've been interested in this since my S1 + Lumix 24-70 f/2.8 is such a hefty combo. I love Panasonic's 24-70 but only really opted for that one because of the focus clutch. But now the S5ii + Sigma 24-70 is really tempting for an equal but significantly lighter combo

    Amazing lens, I recently bought this one second hand. However, I noticed that the focus ring is pretty smooth, almost to smooth if that make sense. It’s very touch sensitive. I own also the sigma 35mm 1.4 and that focus ring is pretty rough, not so smooth at all so I’m a bit confused.
    Question: is it normal that it’s super sensitive focus ring on the 24-70mm ?

Sounds like u really like the Sigma 24-70 f2.8 paired up with the Panasonic-Lumix S5II. Have you attempted to utilize this combo inside an art museum getting shots of oil paintings. If so, how did it work out? 😎😎

    Great review! I’ve been using this lens with the S5 at work (museum) for both photo and video with really pleasant results. One thing I do find a bit challenging though - especially with manual focus for video - is the focus ring smoothness; it could have a bit more stiffness/resistance for my taste.
    As far as I know, SIGMA does enable their L-mount lenses (via a firmware update) to have their focus throw changed in the camera settings. I haven’t tried that because I don’t have the SIGMA firmware-adapter piece…
    Not 24-70mm, but the SIMGA 28-70mm is another great choice with great image quality/value for money for the L-mount (way smaller and lighter).

    • @mattshalash
      @mattshalash Год назад

      All L mount lenses as far as I’m aware actually get their firmware updates directly from the camera. So when you go to firmware update section in the camera, it should automatically install the newest lens firmware if you have the files on the sd card.

    • @TheHybridShooter

      S5 II a R5 sú fotoaparáty z rozdielnych kategórii a za úplne inú cenu, takže je ťažké ich porovnávať. S5 II je primárne určený na pokročilú tvorbu videa, R5 je primárne high-res fotoaparát, takže záleží na čo to chcete používať.
      Cestou adaptovaných objektívov by som dlhodobo nešiel, novšie slká pre mirorrless sú výrazne lepšie.

    • @Verde88
      @Verde88 7 месяцев назад

      You can use linear autofocus with S5ii, which is much better then mechanical focus, because you can define the focus throw youself. I like to have around 3 cm ring travel to cover my usable focus range of let's say between 1m and 10 meters. You can forget about this with mechanical photo lenses (there are few exceptions)

      Not really. Yes, it should, but it doesn’t mean that it will work perfectly. It was just as bad with the first S5. The solution is to enable PDAF in AF-S mode, not to fix something with DFD.

    @MarchalisVan 5 месяцев назад

    WARNING! The Bokeh on this lens wide open is not at all creamy when the depth of field isn't that great, so, often, closer to 24mm it's super jarring for bokeh, nothing soft about it. When the depth of field increases greatly like in the samples shown, it starts mushing out, and that is the same with most lenses and nothing special. So yes, it "can" be creamy, but compared to most lenses it's often jarring as heck.

    • @TheHybridShooter

      What did you expect? It is more adequate for F2.8 zoom lens. Get an F1.2 prime if you want hyper “creamy” bokeh.
