This won't matter to most people, but the image of all the hub worlds at 4:24 was created using multiple pages of the official Nintendo guide. Each time a new hub was introduced, it was accompanied by the pictures you see. It's nice to see something from a 23 year old (and probably fairly rare now) magazine put into the video.
This is a seriously good video that deserves so much more attention than it's getting. Amazing job, seriously
hi other The History of [game name here] World Records youtuber
Big fan of your videos!
the way this will get more exposure is through liking the video, so I encourage you and all others to do so. :)
@@jojocraftybot bro he works hard to find the videos of the world records and the archives of chats
Meh
This video is FANTASTIC. I've recently gotten into watching DKR runs and you taught me everything I could possibly want to know and more. Seriously impressed by the amount of work put into this!
I know im asking the wrong place but does any of you know of a method to log back into an Instagram account??
I was stupid lost the password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me.
@Louis Bronson instablaster ;)
@Terrance Kabir i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and im trying it out now.
Takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Terrance Kabir It worked and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much, you really help me out !
@Louis Bronson glad I could help :D
i used to play the absolute hell out of this game back when i had my N64. of all racing games i thing that this one deserves a remaster/remake for a new generation to enjoy
So I think I saved this video out of curiosity about one of the games I played in my childhood that was nostalgic... I came away from this video in total awe at how innovative and capable people can become to push the limits of technology.
I had no concept of "competitive" gaming or speedrunning or even technical improvements when I played this with my family in the 2000s.... I couldn't even beat the game regularly once 😭

on the same freaking day LUL
I don't know how well it holds up nowadays, but this game was my jam when I was a kid. I'm glad there's a DS version of it.
I really like this video. A lot was done in terms of research and in terms of the video itself getting the right music to keep the atmosphere. Thank you for this
Your channel is incredible
Definitely earned a subscriber. Great video with good explanations of the glitches, which help make the time saves meaningful for people unfamiliar with DKR as a speed game. Can't wait for more.
Great video! So much nostalgia for this game and really cool to see the various time saves and manipulations. Hope to see more content like this in future
The next video is already in production!
@@Abyssoft Nice one, will keep an eye out 👀
Wow I've played this game twice probably but you made it so interesting. Well done dude
Finally! Been waiting for someone to cover this, God speed to ya
The sound in the last part was less loud than the rest of the video. Other than that, it was really interesting. I really liked the Kredit. More speedrunning history!
New video next month!
Great video! Really loved it, keep them coming!!! and i dont mind waiting for the quality content!
You speed run history videos are top notch! Great job dude. Please please keep this up. I'm hoooooooked.
I just uploaded a new video looking at the history of Mario Kart 64s biggest rivals even longer than this :)
@@Abyssoft right on! Definitely going on the watch list. Watched your Earthbound video last night as I was going to bed, I ended up watching the whole thing.
The effort you put in to these are very evident. Seriously well done man.
This channel is definitely going to blow up; it's just a matter of time.

I'm here
Speedrun to blow up
This is quality content! Nice work!
This needs way more views good work man
This was an amazing video man!
man i cant imagine how much work went into this video good work man
Your music cutover at "how about an hour?" slaps! Nice editing!
Nice Video!
Really well-made video! =)
Great video dude keep up the great work I'm sure your channel will blow up soon
I’ve watched this video 4 times in the last month. It’s incredible!
Broooo I was so obsessed with game back in the day great memories 👍
Awesome and super interesting video. You earn a lot more subs!
This totally deserves more views
You're too kind, how did you find the video if I may ask?
I guess that most of us search for history of speedrunning in a regular. At least that's how I found your video.
It's nice to be a big enough part of a game's history to get a shout out in a video like this :-D if you ever do anything about IL runs for the game, I'd be glad to chat about what I remember from back in the day!
I have thought about doing a video on IL's but probably not until the Fall, I'm swamped with content in the pipeline right now, but I'll reach out when I pull the trigger
Just found this! This is prob good. Excited!
It's been said before, but this video is fantastic. I can't believe you're not more popular.
I’m so happy you made this
Very cool video
Great video, you've earned a new sub!
Thanks, you might enjoy my new Mario Kart 64 video if you found this one to be interesting!
@@Abyssoft I will give it a watch! Just moved house today and the internet is a bit iffy, but once it's up and running properly I will keep it mind!
Thanks for the history my dude
im going to be proud when you blow up and have hundreds of thousand subs man, your content is really nice to watch and i appreciate the amount of work you put into this channel!
Thanks for the kinds words, more content is in development!
This great stuff :)
Well that was a trip down Spacedust Alley
I love how you remind us of how much a trick saves or a mistake costs throughout the video. It really helps keep things in perspective.
Excellent quality. Other speed docs should take notes!
New viewer here! Very interesting thank you for your work/research.
Nice KC pfp
Nice KC pfp
Professor Utonium nice music taste
Underrated.
Anything talking about Diddy kong racing 10/10
this is my fav type of content, ez sub, ty
Good use of : The end? in the credit roll ;)
That would be similar to using "The end?" in the credit roll of Donkey Kong Country 1.
It's really nice to see other people doing WRP videos besides Summoning Salt. Love his content, but it's few and far between.
He's the GOAT that invented the genre, you wouldn't have this video without him that's for sure. I'm glad you enjoyed the video above all!
@@Abyssoft you're absolutely right! But now that there's two of you, more content!
@Joseph Rockford :o you can't just say that and not tell me.
@@tannertadlock7741 check out Carl Jobst and speed docs
@@tannertadlock7741 i just found a channel yesterday that makes wrp vids - the otter's pocket. granted, they only have two so far, but the quality is quite good
As someone who never beat first wizpig seeing a speedrunner do a bonk against a wall in a WR run: "hah, nice driving loser"
But in all seriousness and kidding aside, this was a very sweet documentary and crazy how consistent these top tiers runners are on a very fast paced racing game, well played runners and thanks Abyssoft for this history lesson of DKR
Really enjoyed this video. For some reason it's so interesting watching people take DKR seriously! It looks like a kid's game but it's actually not easy, and these speed runners push it to the limit. I'm not sure how I feel about the glitch exploits, though. Kind of defeats the purpose?
It is clear that you did your homework. You know your stuff and your editing is on point. Great video. My only complaint is that you speak VERY quickly. Slow folks like me have a hard time keeping up with what you are saying. Other than that, keep up the great work!!
An hour was a bit much but I liked it well enough, keep it up!
Hey this video just appeared in my recommendations so you might be able to expect some more viewers coming soon. Thought I'd let you know
indeed
Hopefully
Weird flex, but okay.
Man I remember playing this game as a kid, this video gives me so much nostalgia. My brother and I also used to push the a button to drive faster and later discovered that you could be even faster by doing the barrel rolls. Never knew that those are speedrun tactics 😂❤
I really like your explanation videos about speedruns. I'm wondering if you would be interested to look into a few zelda speedruns because some of them are very complicated with back in time glitches and superswims as well as recoding the game to give you certain items. I feel you would be able to explain those strats to people who have no prior knowledge since your videos are explaining the strats in a simple way.
There may be a chance I do something covering Back in Time.
What i got from dd racing speedruns is that Wizpig 2 first out of bounds was needed
It's really crazy how many world records required a first out of bounds due to how narrow the lead was going into the race.
Your videos are great and I enjoy watching them. Thanks for all the effort. My main feedback is please use volume control on the streamer reactions. The difference in volume between narration and reactions is ridiculous.
This video is kinda all over the place but still a good watch. Needs more structure and proper scripting. Regardless would deff watch more
I got this video recommend to me on random. I have fond memories of playing this game with my late father. He never did enjoy Mario kart.
OOOH I was so hoping that there would be a video like this for Diddy Kong Racing. This is going to be a blast!!!!!
edit: and it was :)
Damn, I like to pride myself in being able to follow along on these types of videos without problem but this video is so good and so full of information I wasn't able to easily process some of it because the data was hitting me too fast. That's pretty impressive considering people can just rewind it if they want clarification. You condensed a lot of information on here and it was still an hour long. Great work
I love the Mother 3 music in the background
The excitement!!!
51:04 When you get a question right in a Game show:
That ding brings me life.
6:33 Boss rematches give you a piece of Wizpig's Amulet, not T.T.
Other than that, excelent info. Keep up the good work.
Wow amazing thanks boss if you can slow down a little bit that would be perfect then longer video too lolol gg
best sound track ever dkr
I didn’t understand fully the wrong warp. Ima have to look it up. My kids and I just started playing adventure two since I unlocked it the first time about a year or so ago. Since I kinda forgot all the layouts, the mirror mode is completely normal looking to me… and after using the first easy levels to get back into the swing of things I totally could see myself putting time into this game lmao.
This game is what introduced me to speedruning.
good video, good editing, audio quality of the narration holds it back.
Audio is my number one thing to work on for the next video, what aspects of it need improvement, I'd love to know so I can fix it.
Currently I'm fixing the setup so it doesn't sound like I'm recording in a cathedral with so much reverb
Video was awesome, would love an update! Also voice could be a little louder imo
"So let's Zip over to Marhla's run"

The Hype
Great video. My absolute favorite game as a kid. Much better than mk64 tbh
I could watch ancient lake all day
~5:54 WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?! HOW AM I ONLY NOW FINDING OUT ABOUT THAT?!?!?!?!
LOOOOOOL
When you’re back to making WRP videos, can you make an any% DKR WRP as you focused only on 100% for this video
This is a nice recap of the history of Diddy Kong Racing, but may I ask where I can find that remix of the title theme used in the beginning and end of the video?
Very nice work. BTW at 33:45 the "dyna" is pronounced like the first syllable of dinosaur.
Commenting so RUclips knows this video is worth commenting on.
God dammit I love this game and I never knew about the tricks to go faster. I gotta get through this again.
Awesome video. Have you ever thought of doing the history of Dark Souls 3? I used to love watching All bosses and SL1 speedruns. Would be cool to see the history.
I'm on hiatus for world record history videos until August, I'm producing a new video currently titled "Rivals: Gamings Greatest Competitors" that I hope to make into a series. After that video drops I have two quick ones I plan to make then I'm open to suggestions for another WR history video
I 100 completed this game a couple years ago for both adventure 1 and adventure 2, beside the out of bond glitches i did all the other ones. Because of that i overtook the computer players that were in the last places during the second lape going into the third lape lol.
The fake credits got me, I'll admit.
I feel like we have reached the peak of humanity and there is nothing left to accomplish.
This game was hard as fuck
Holy cow I forgot how great this game was!!!!!!!
underrated game tbh i didn't play it in its hayday but im sure i would've jammed it if someone showed it to me
If I could like this again I would. So nastalgic. This game was my childhood till my stepmom stole it and gave it to my step brother.. it was the best of times it was the worst of times
Can't believe I came on my PC just to say this but man Mrsgizamaluke is probably a "hers" not a "his"
god damn diddy kong racing is a good game. imo its the best kart racer out there followed very closely by sonic transformed
How’s it going now. Not that I’m able to check I just have add and forget?
GG
Next is sub-1:45:00.000
Obiyo and Trident are certainly grinding hard for it
11/10
I forgot how floaty DKR is. :0
Minor error but beating the boss of a world the 2nd time gets you a piece of the Wizpig amulet not the T.T amulet.
The record has already been broken twice, wth?
This game is hard enough to beat at all!
Good video, but the difference in volume between yourself and the streamers is massive, and I kept having to adjust my volume during the video.
hold up hold up hold up, obiyo is Québecois ? AND IS WAS BETTER THAN A CANADIAN !
damn finally a good rep that isn't Céline Dion or xqc
there are no more diddy kong racings games?
No, that's all there is. The developers got bought, and that lead to legal issues and they never made another one.
