If you haven’t already watched Firefly, you might enjoy it. It was a show Joss Whedon did after Buffy. Only 14 episodes. The episodes were aired out of order. Start with the episode called “Serenity”, then “Train Job”. Just to make it more confusing, there was a movie after the end of the show called “Serenity”.
It’s a space-western, but it’s more realistic than Buffy, and more fun. 🙂

Drusilla getting lost in the moment making out with Giles is one of my absolute favorite Buffy moments.
I legit love the performances during the fight between Joyce and Buffy. Like, we know Joyce loves her daughter but (like any real-world parent) sometimes she screws up (and sometimes she screws up badly). I mean, she's been driving all over town trying to find her kid who is now the chief suspect in a murder investigation, only to finally find her and have her entire understanding of her daughter (and the whole world) flipped on its head. She has no way to process what is happening, and (unfortunately) Buffy has no time to explain it to her. Joyce wants to clear Buffy's name, she wants answers, she wants to keep Buffy away from danger, and when all that fails, she resorts to that old parental classic hit: "if you walk out that door" - Only to have it backfire immediately because (as Joyce can't really grasp yet) Buffy's got no other choice.
And I also really appreciate that we see Joyce immediately regrets her actions. She handled it badly, but it's not because she's a monster, it's because she's human. Just great writing and great acting.
We love the Spike appreciation! He was such a fun villain 💖
Gush all you want about Buffy and Spike. The relationship I will always adore is Spike and Joyce.

Your face when Buffy runs the sword through Angel's chest! I think that was all of us back then, whether you liked them together or not.
Poor Buffy and poor Angel. She had to kill the love of her life right after getting him back. And he was stabbed by the love of his life and sent to hell without knowing why.
That crushed my teen heart so much. The look of confusion and betrayal on his face, because he doesnt remember it all yet. And buffy knowing what she has to do, after being kicked out of school and (in her mind) rejected by her mum, and probably thinking nobody will understand her grief over angel because of all he did while soulless. Poor buffy…
And we didn't know there was going to be a show called Angel. The trauma!
Joyce and Spike is one of my favorite things ever.

I love this episode. great reaction.
The emotional climax of the finale, and the season, completely hinges upon us being sad about the death of a character that most of the audience wanted dead, and it *works.* That was an incredibly risky move, and it's a real testament to the writing and the performances that a pivot this extreme managed not to crash and burn.
we don't have to be sad about angel. it's sufficient to be sad about buffy being sad about angel.

Your excitement over their alliance is contagious, and Angel's outfit really was the bomb! Nobody else noticed, but he tried to look nice for his ascension.
Dude. You predicted a few things but seeing you have the mental breakdown to how it will go down, was the best part. Season 3 is bananas. I just know you're gonna enjoy that one a bit more ♥ 😁👍.

It's been a while since I've seen the logo for the this episode. I don't MCU them (watch to the end of the credits) with my DVD's anymore, and streaming doesn't like me to (goes to the next episode before the credits) so I had forgotten the exact phrase. I just remember it referencing how sad fans and it was after how emotional the episode was.

This finale is one of the best in all of TV. I'm so glad you liked it, but I'll never get used to you calling Jenny Cal and Giles Rupe.
So in that tradition: I love Sum in this episode, she is the GOAT and will always be a hero. Willy flipping sides and working with Sum was awesome (and the conversation he had with Sum's mom was epic). Rose showing she's a badass wicka was great. Loved to see it.

nope, that was the last monster to ever visit sunnydale. next season, the town will realize their mistake, and when buffy returns, there'll be a big welcome home parade in her honor, and everything that follows will be sunshine and rainbows.

It was so hard not to comment on the accuracy of your prediction of Spike and Buffy working together against Angel when you mentioned it back in your reaction to episode 19.
It's very clever how the scenes of Buffy 'coming out' as a Vampire Slayer with both Joyce and Buffy use phrases often used when children 'come out' to their parents as gay.
Xander's lie actually makes no difference, the portal is already opening before Buffy gets to Angel. Even if she knew Willow was trying to restore his soul it was too late to delay him.
Sarah McLachlan's 'Full of Grace' is a great song for the closing scenes of the episode.

I love you so much! You're reactions are top tier! Tears were shed from my eyes mixed with some laughter of course. Love love love the Spike, Buffy, Joyce scenes so so much! One of the best ever finales in all of television. Of course I tend to say that for nearly every Season of Buffy.
I'm so happy you decided to do Buffy, this is in no way a spoiler, just my opinion that to me every Season gets better and better.

In the beginning of "Becoming pt 1" we see some random dude saying "I'll be damned". Thats one of Angels first lines in the show, before we wven knew he ws a vampire... And then it ends with Angel actually being damned, sucked in to a hell dimension. Also it just reminds us of all the things we have been through together.

Darcie going through the episode trying to puzzle out just how this can come to a conclusion reminded me just how Joss Whedon's evil genius works: whatever horrifying and heartbreaking ending you may come up with, he will have something worse.

Becoming part 2 was a terrific ending to S2 setting up the brilliant S3. Snyder saying to Buffy 'in case you hadn't noticed The Sunnydale Police Dept is deeply stupid' is the understatement of the whole show! We see him mention The Mayor again, very telling. Here we see Buffy faced with the ultimate heart breaking choice to kill her lover or save the world. We of course know she will make the right choice. Willow comes through at the end, but Buffy has to go through with the final act. So poignant at the end when from afar Buffy sees her friends but decides to leave Sunnydale, Joyce too is so regretful as she knows Buffy is now gone after their terrible row, all against the backdrop of Sarah McLachlan's beautiful haunting ballad Full Of Grace. I think we can see you are now hooked on the show, as are all reactors that enter 'The Buffyverse' and it only gets better.
This season's finale is so sad. But season 3 is coming!! Season 3 is my favourite.

The first couple of seasons, it was uncertain whether the series would be renewed so the 'big bad' for the season is defeated in the series finale, so it theoretically could end there (a lot of shows would end seasons on a cliffhanger and then get cancelled so it was never resolved). There are, of course, a lot of loose ends that can be picked up the next season, but it could have ended here. This trend continues of defeating the big bad, even when they knew they had another season.
When Drusilla attacks Spike, she looks like a Muppet and I laugh so hard every time I watch this episode. This is not a criticism.

This season finale is just the FIRST loop in the roller coaster of this show, and the next few ones are even bigger in my opinion. The show grows but keeps it's core. If you love it so far, you will love the rest.

Season 3 is lots of fun, you'll enjoy. You'll like season 5 too (my favorite), but of course they're all good. Can't wait to see you for 3.1, it makes me very happy.
Xander was a complete a**hole in both part 1 and 2. First to Buffy, then lying to Buffy about what Willow said so that he could get the guy he's been jealous of out of the way.
Then, Xander finally sees Willow after all this time of her shed tears and being happy with Oz. How disrespectful to Oz and Cordelia.
He couldn't look Willow in the face when she said maybe she saved him and they are together and want to be alone.
Buffy left because her mother told her not to come back.
They did Kendra wrong. She deserved to be on the show longer.
As for Willow...you could see something about that scene with her doing the spell felt foreshadowing. She was definitely tapping into something of herself.
Maybe Xander remembers a few episodes ago where Angelus was seconds away from killing him and then shortly after killed Jenny. Gotta make someone pretty upset.

20:03 Wrong. It is exactly what was required in this moment. If Buffy knew that Willow is trying to do the spell Buffy would hold back in the fight against Angelus in hope that the spell works instead of focusing on taking Angelus out. That unnecessarily increases the risk for everyone involved, Buffy first and foremost.

Can I ask how you found out about the show "Angel"? I'm already convinced it was some weasel that can't keep stuff to themselves. I know you'd be way ahead on patreon but that obviously hasn't made a difference for spoilers. I like when reactors get involved in the comments, the amount of "I have to spoil you subtly" people you get in here is off the scale tho, that's why I would say just stay away from the comments all together, you'll get a much better experience from the show without the toxic "that's not a spoiler" when it clearly is, trolls.
I understand joyce's reaction but i dont think its ever exceptable to kick your kid out of home makes me really uncomfortable, especially as a queer person

Joyce is not a horrible mother. She is a mother who found out her daughter is a vampire slayer. That’s not something a parent should just get over right away.

I'm just going to leave this on every single reaction to this episode because it's been 25 years and people are still dumb as shit about Xanders motivations and just Xander as a character in general. Just because he was jealous of angel in season 1 doesnt mean he hasnt grown by season two. First of all, whether he told Buffy about the spell or not, Buffy would not have been able to stop Angel because Angel awakened acathla while Buffy was still struggling with that one lacky vamp. That's just a fact. It's part of the actual plot we actually see it happening. She was never going to stop him. Xander hates vampires. As he should. They killed Jesse. Angelus is the worst of them. He murdered Jenny! (People get angry at Jennys death then get angry at Xander for wanting to avenge her 🤔) He orchestrated the attack that put WILLOW in a coma and killed Kendra, he's abducted Giles AND he's trying to suck the world into hell. Buffys judgement is totally clouded and she's being totally selfish. She just wants her boyfriend back. That's all she can see. She's a teenage girl in love. Xander, despite his faults as a teenage boy, out of the group is still the one that SEES what's necessary and knows what needs to be done for the greater good (hello Caleb season 7?) . This is evident in the entire series he's always the 1st to realise what's happening before even Willow, who we know can act selfishly and irrationally going forward . If he had warned Buffy about the curse, it would have distracted her. She would have stalled as much as she could till it worked and this would have tired her out and possibly gotten her killed. Xander is Buffys second in command on the battlefield and "Kick his ass" was the motivation she needed to get her head in the game and save the WORLD. And as I said, it was written in the plot that she would have been too late anyway! Stop hating on Xander because you're like Buffy and can't see past the love story.
I have a lot less sympathy for Joyce, but my reasons would involve spoilers so I'll say no more.
