Hello and thank you for your video, and your joyful attitude! I have a Rockwell 6c and it's ok- waiting for the Progress to come, hopefully will be better, and thanks again!
The Merkur progress is a vintage razor in it's own time, it started production in mid 1950s before the Gillette adjustables and then out lived them (production wise). Interesting scent profile on the Black River soap. 👍😎👍
Funny the men in my family went away from DE to Electric, i only remember my DAD using the DE for when we went to family gatherings my grandfather on my moms size, used a DE a little more often if i remember correct . great video and shave, stay safe....cheers....Peter
I just got my second progress after gifting my first one to another brother. New wet shaver. This soap and splash is must. Gotta love that cowboy theme. Nice shave brother.
Hello Kensurfs! Thanks for your videos, you have inspired me to start with wetshaving! I have my new Wilkinson Sword Classic with its DE blades, Barbus and Wilkinson Sword brush! And 110 DE razors Gillete Wilkinson Sword are coming from India! Keep doing your good job, as you always do! I wish you well, be healthy and save! :) Greetings from Slovakia :)
Thanks for the great videos Ken. I always enjoy seeing you use products I have too. I just used my Progress last week on 3.5 with a Dorco New Platinum ST-301 blade. All the best.
Hey Ken, just got into Wet Shaving about a month ago because of your videos. I’m addicted to your video 😂 and SinatraLennon’s I’m 20 years old and I wish I would have started earlier!
Hi Ken, great shave as always. I gifted the Indian Bevel edition (Bombay shaving company) to my brother in law and he is another convert from cartridge to wet shaving.
Hi Ken, I just bought off a Parker Variant and Parker semi Slant from another wet shaver who apparently has found his life's go to razor and is selling away the old ones. Do make a video using the said two razors, thank you.
I'll have to try the Dr. Jon's stuff out as soon as I can. Funny I nick myself in almost that same exact spot on my neck 7 out of 10 times. But, I've got whiskers there that seem to grow in a different direction than anything else on my face. LOL. I saw from another video that you are a James Dean fan. I live in the town he was born in, and only about 10 miles from the farm he lived on. You should check out "James Dean" days festival they have in the fall in Fairmount IN. someday if you ever could. Enjoy the videos, keep up the good work. William C. central Indiana.
It’s funny how you mention using the same brush you get used to the characteristics of it. I use the same brush almost everyday (P.A.A. Atomic rocket) but if I change soaps I have to remember which soap gets what amount of water!! Great video thanks Ken!!
Ken💈💈nice shave. Soap/splash sounds good, I get DR Jon's and Uncle Jon's mixed up, both are good actually. Personally, I never got along with Astra Green blades all that well, lots of folks swear by them though. Thanks for the video and ya gotta love the burn.... Enjoy!
Great shave Ken💈 the Placencia K9 shirt is a great donation. I donated a couple times through my private gun club outta the corona area. 👍🏽let me know if you’re in the area.
Great shave. I have tried the Astra SP blades before. Initially, they start out rough before leveling out and smoothing out in subsequent shaves. They’re nicer blades for me in my experience. Have a good one!
I started to get bad razor bumps on my neck both on the left and right side. Yours and Geofatboy's videos inspired me to switch to a DE razor. I purchased a mild razor made of stainless steel and wooden handle and the Gillette 7 o clock blade. After watching a lot of tutorials, I had a basic understanding of how to use a DE razor, it still turned out to be a disaster. Just touching the blade on my sensitive area on the neck really hurt, the shave wasn't close too despite two passes. I switched to Gillette Skinguard and stopped shaving against the grain on my neck and things are a lot better since then. I do not understand what went wrong.
@@Westbrook1977 they are made by lord in Egypt. About 8$ for 100 on Amazon. It’s become my daily blade in my Henson and works well in most of my other razors
Great video as always! Did the soap smell of leather strongly? Or was it all a hint of each of the scents? Also, do you ever have problems with hair and soap getting stuck under a blade when shaving? Did my second wet shave (ever!) with a merkur 34c and an astra green and noticed a bit of buildup on one side, not sure if that would impede shaving either. I didn’t notice this before when i used a van der hagen blade and razor for my first shave.
Yes; the hair build-up on the blade does impede shaving. If happening with double edge safety razor, first suggestion if this is the blade's first use, is check how stiff, thick, or wet is your lather. You may interrupt your shave to open the razor, remove the blade, and carefully remove the clogging hair.
@@10floz30minutes Thanks for the info! Yea, I'm having a hard time whipping up a lather with this soap (the soap that comes with a van der hagen starter kit). It doesn't quite come to a whipped cream style lather. I hadn't noticed buildup when I did my first wet shave last week with a Van der hagen safety razor and the razor it comes with (This second time I had issues was with a murker 34c and Astra green).
@@Giltonn You will gain experience and skill in building a shave lather. Maybe will take a couple of weeks. Meanwhile, go to IMCDB's channel and view his Lather tutorial videos. If you are bowl-lathering, exactly what is your process?

Hi Ken- Great shave and soap/aftershave reviews; thank you! Have a great week ahead. Be safe and be well. Best regards, as always, Ken!
Really interesting new soap from Dr Jon's.. Sounds that it got a nice smell to it. 👍

Ive had a 100pk of astra green for several years and currently down to 3 pks left. I'll get a variety pack after them of different blades.
Another great video Mr ken. Hope everything is good with you and your family. And you got a hair cut looking good

Oh no you're too late! You should've started 20 years ago ;) JK. I started at 33 last year and I consider myself lucky. Bravo, young man!

Great shave Ken. I'm a big Dr. Jon fan. Maybe one day he'll bring back Bandit. Merkur Progress is a favorite of mine.
Hopefully he reads these comments👍👍
Awesome shave Ken!! Hope everything is going well for you.
When you say "mileage", do you mean greater number of shaves or do you mean use more often?
Welcome back ken! You may want to get on the wagon with the new supply razors. I just got.my pro adjustable and the new SE is making waves as well.
Lisa 🪒💈👍👍Good evening Ken.

Great shave, love those leather scents also. Any updates to the shave den, shave den tour?

Astras are just so so for me as well. Still yet to try a Dr. jon’s Soap, may have to give this a whirl.

merkur progress is on my list for a potential first adjustable DE. does it matter which way you adjust an adjustable from first to second to third?
