    Just upload a short hack.
    If you do your own oil changes. You need to do this.
    Sometimes it's the little things. 😊

    Great video. 👍🏻 I was looking at a lift. I’ve got the ceiling height for one. My primary uses for one would be to power wash the bottom of my vehicles, apply anti corrosion, do oil / fluid changes, and do winter/summer tire swaps. I’m thinking that this might be the way for me to go. I am looking for ideas on a sliding fluid catchment tray and cover for the pit so that can use it as just a shop area for working on other vehicles like ATV’s and snow machines. Nice work brother. You obviously have some good brain matter that your working with 😎

      We think alike. I want to do the same. Sliding tool tray and fluid container. Flush floor over top for more working area....
      Thanks for watching 👀

      @projectponderer  16 дней назад

      @RS-cd9cf i felt the same way. Plus, I can put a removable floor in. So I have a pit and floor space.

    Wish you had some pictures of the pour, but I'll bet you had more on your mind that day than making video! The result looks awesome. I saw in another post you reinforced the block, filled with concrete, then poured around that. It sounds like you're going to reinforce the pit edges with steel angle of some kind (trying to picture this) which is what I've seen on commercial pits to avoid chipping and cracking edges. Hope you'll post more. Subscribed.

      @projectponderer  Год назад +3

      Yes I wish I had gotten more pictures of the pour to. It was a rush with so many things on my plate. Plus my dad was helping. He is a old timer. "I don't want my picture on the innerweb" 😆
      Yes I have rebar gridded inside the block and joints. Then poured full of concrete. I was going to reinforce the edges. But as I look at my garage floor where I drive in every day. It never has chipped so think ill leave it. Im thinking of putting angle iron on the inside of the pit so I can floor the top and remove it if I want. Hopefully this summer I'll have a updated video. Thanks for the comment!

      Thank you! I didn't want to bump my head on low riders. 😆 When pressure washing a frame its nice to have room for the wand.
      Iv had some trucks in there that I needed to use blocks to reach the oil filter. I'll be doing a video on a 2x4 folding ladder soon.

    Little late to help. But next time try using a high pressure power washer in the sand stone. You need a trash pump to pull the water and sand out . Its messy but less labor intensive.

      Thanks. If I find a good deal on material I will more than likely make a cover for when its not in use. Noone has fallen in it. Ppl seem to be scared when around it. 😆 I'll do a update video this summer. I have a few plans for the pit.

  • @ThinkBuildTest

    Great job! Like everyone always tells me. Make sure to vent the pit before use because of heavy gases. Do you think you will have any issues with rain water finding its way in?

    • @projectponderer
      @projectponderer  Год назад +2

      I usually have a fan going. Just in case. No water problems. On one side it is 20 inches off the ground. On the side that you drive in the over hang keeps it out. I suppose a really large Storm could blow some in. But hasn't yet. If it does ill use it to clean the pit. 😆 As far as ground water. Both gutters push water away. I Still need to pipe one underground. The garage is on a hill so all water flows away. I done block walls, then rebar and poured concrete inside. Then concrete on the outside of the walls. Even when it was just dirt it was dry. So hopefully if I get cracks it will stay dry.

      @@projectponderer I know you have done more thinking on this than anyone will give you credit for, great job! Having the hole in the center of a roof I feel gives us tons of protection from soil swelling and contracting. You will probably be fine.

    • @projectponderer

      I use the HF 5 gallon oil drain dolly. Sku# 90582. Once it's full I unscrew the funnel. Then carry to container out.

    The pit looks great mate, top job 👍.
    Im doing one now thats pretty much same dimensions as yours, 110cm wall to wall by 6m long. Im gonna have 2" angle on top and cast into the walls to slide a beam jack/place floor boards, bolting them to the side as you suggest I think might get in your way some and strength might be an issue without a wall under it. Re jacks Ill probably be making one that has a sliding trolley to have better access to hubs and suspension etc
    Heres a commercial one with a price to match:-
    ruclips.net/video/yMg9pzoGX00/видео.html
    Or home brew, im thinking something in between:-

    Only limit is the imagination eh. I don't really get the whole lift vs pit thing, all of them have pros and cons for different work and are site dependent.
    Keep on truckin, Cheers D
