I like to think that it is the evolved offspring of an F/A-18 and F-16 with the F-22 teaching it how to be stealthy. High alpha, high turn rate fighter with stealth capabilities and still a good payload capacity with ridiculous power to weight. It is an amazingly capable aircraft, and being able to do what it does with no thrust vectoring is just a testament to its engineering. People that say it sucks because it isn't as fast as other fighters don't know just how little combat happens above Mach 1, and what really matters in a fight is how quickly you can accelerate rather than your top speed.

    • @CoffeeMonster12
      @CoffeeMonster12 2 года назад +1

@@wruenvadam Well the F-35 is definetly not as fast or agile as older jets, but the fact that those jets might not know the F-35 os there before they get hit is the real game changer.

It's also been a tech headache but no one could've predicted how far technology would advance and complicate in 10-15 years. Yes! I had that same experience at the Ft Worth TX plant when LM first started building the F-22. At the time, they were still building the F-16, but at the far end of the hangar, there was a small area curtained off. Behind that curtain was a single, partially completed F-22. I was in the IT dept and I had to upgrade some software on one of the PCs behind that curtain. I was the only one back there and as I was leaving, I couldn't resist the temptation; I ran my hand along the surface of the left wing. I'm telling you........it didn't have the feel of any metal or any other material I've ever touched. It made the hair on the back of my neck stand up and in my head, I could hear the theme music/song to The X-Files.

  • @myhometechguy

Just looking at the fit and finish of the F-35 tells a lot. It is the most advanced technological machine in its designed, structure, and electronics. Its taken everything we have leaned from previous fighters and taken it to the next level. This includes the F-22. I believe the F-35 is superior in every way except power, speed, and very low speed maneuvering. This only makes sense being that the F-35 is made by the same manufacturer as the F-22 with 10 years newer technology. The difficulties and delays the program has experience are expected when you are pushing the technology to the limits. All of the hard work is paying off and its only going to get better over time. I believe that our adversaries are way behind us. Even though they have produced fighter that look very similar I don't believe they are nearly as capable. They are likely lacking far behind in the most important strength and that is the avionics. This is evidenced by their inability to produce super cruise capable engines to date, something we have achieved in 1997. Considering all of its capabilities it is a tremendous value when compared to legacy fighters.

Derek Childress - I wouldn't call the F-35 a baby anything because it is an absolute BEAST at what it does. You have to remember that F-35 was built for a different role than the F-22. The F-22 was designed from the start with NO expense spared to be the greatest AIR SUPERIORITY fighter the world has ever seen and it succeeded at that. The F-35 comes out around 15 yrs later and was designed from the ground up to be a STRIKE FIGHTER, which means it's main purpose is to penetrate enemy air space and attack ground targets. That doesn't mean that it can't go out and dogfight by any means. Both aircraft have the most advanced avionics in the world, but the F-35 just has more and is better. The F-35 also acts as a mini AWACS and in some cases is better than normal AWACS aircraft because of how advanced it's technology is in it. The only real advantage the F-22 has over the F-35 is it's speed and maneuverability but the F-22 has that advantage over every fighter in the world lol.

@@alessiussa4184 F-35 (like any other stealth) is detectable by VHF band radar. And F-35 is the least stealthy stealth plane, even Uncle Sam admits it. The only problem is how to guide missiles towards it, since VHF band isn't accurate enough for that purpose. But knowing it's there is already half the work done. F-35 has nothing going for it except for stealth and sensors. Its performance is rather miserable - it's slow, poor climber and lazy turning fighter-bomber. Its payload capacity is also very low. With only 4 AIM-120s maximum it's going to have a hard time in an all-out war. Once it's out of missiles, it can't escape due to low maximum speed. That's not a problem for USA that usually fights with at least 10:1 numerical advantage. But a small country that operates 10 F-35s would suffer the numbers game IMO.

You have to defend yourself from the Federal Corporation ''government'' that's CIA (corporate department) was abducting and torturing THOUSANDS of US citizens for mind control research called Mk Ultra for DECADES, even during JFK said he'd destroy the CIA into a million pieces. But if Americans don't fight harder for their gun rights, you will lose them from this tyrannical gov.
As the bible says in Ephesians 6:12: For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
They lied about the torpedo attack to get us into Vietnam. They lied to get us into Iraq. They have military civilian torture prisons in the middle east. They guard poppy fields for big Pharma, they take land and resources, they produce weapons of mass destruction to sell for profit, while wars are manufactured to sell weapons. THEY PROFIT FROM WAR. THEY, are the bankers that own the Federal Reserve and print the US dollar, control world economies and wars.
I'm a Finnish/American, living in Finland and i'm a Finnish combat medic, but i'd never fight and die for my country, or any government. I'd protect my family with my life, not my government rich psychopaths. This may not be your everyday discussion, but it's important to wake up. God bless you all, i hope you wake up to the reality.

Beautiful plane. Still don't think I'd want it replacing the A-10 if I were on the ground fighting below it though.

You'd be crazy to want it replacing the A10.

    • @TheJBerg

The A-10 requires an uncontested air space to operate. It's a sitting duck to anyone who wants to shoot it down.
F-35 sucks, but at least can operate with impunity in contested air space.

I’d still like to know when the US Marines will operate it either stealthy or Supersonic as they will load it with wings full of dumb bombs.

Neightrix Prime To be honest, all close air support requires air superiority. F35s aint going to be flying in with wings full of bombs unless the F22’s/F15s/Hornets have cleared the sky first.

well not if you want something that carries a 1/5th of the ammunition of the A-10 and a smaller calibre weapon...no neither would I.

      Not sure about best engineering.
It looks good but will it last longer than a few years before it's grounded because it's falling out of the sky.
