That key looks like a great fix for that! You may want to switch that para cord out with some chain or something that looks better! Just a suggestion!
Lol! Funny my wife said the same thing. Sometimes practical does not mean beautiful with me! 😂. I will make it look pretty!
That’s when you fabricate a new handle out of a pair of vise grips.
Cool!! I've seen that key thing before but didn't know what it was used for.
I am going to get a wall hydrant and tamper proof angle stop to show at some point as well.
What if the thingy your turning is stripped??? How can I fix that?
Don't do what he does in here. It's absurd.

hey, that's great. will save me lots of trouble !! Thanks
Thanks Brian that’s a simple and easy fix. Hope you and your family family have a great Easter Weekend.👍
Your welcome Britt! Hope you and your family have a wonderful Easter as well.
Yes helpful thank u
Hello, I rent and I use the outdoor faucet to wash my car, but havent been able to this year, because I can no longer turn the handle. I was thinking W-D40? My landlord isn't very good at doing any type of upkeep, so I'll probably have to try and get it working, myself. Thanks!
Great video, but after using the key, it appears that the valve itself is stripped. And for some reason my inside valve isn't turning off the water either. Good times.
Love it - Ty
Your welcome. Glad this could help.
My knobs screw is so rusted it is not possible to unscrew...My water leaks from the knob when knob is turned on..how do I remove the knob?
Awesome
What about when the faucet has small teeth? I can seen to find that handle, I only find one that is too big for mine. If you know anything that I can do beside replacing the faucet please tell me, thanks
I have this problem. The screw is rusted. How can we get it off.?🎉🎉 thank u
What if the screw to take the handle off is stripped?
I’ve found that drilling it out helps. Use titanium drill bits and drill into the stripped screw head. Once the head is drilled through, the handle has nothing holding it down. Then just replace the screw
Hey Brian, I know you said you don't want to strip the screw holding the handle in place, but what if that thing just will not come out?? I've tried getting it out and its starting to stip. Appears to be a softer metal that both my flathead and philips head is starting to strip.

If I just put that key on my outdoor keys that will stop my neighbors from stealing water now that their's is cut off like just pay your bill. But this will be perfect for me.
We call that getto rigging where I’m from
Redneck engineering over here’.
Get it.
COULD YOU HELP ME PLEASE CAN I REPLACE IT'S HANDLE WITH THE UP GRADE THAT OPENS WITH LESS TURNS ??? PLEASE HELP ME I CAN NOT REPLACE RHE WHOLE SPIGOT THANKS GOD BLESS YOU ALL THERE
Hi! Thanks for the video. I have a Prier handle that will not move/turn. Do you think what you shown in the video would work for this issue as well?
It very well could be the issue. You should be able to get a prier handle pretty easy.
@@ThatFixItGuy Thanks the key was just the fixed needed.
Why didn’t you replace the knob?
I could not find a knob for it. I looked and looked.
My handle stripped with the water ON. Can I take the handle off even if the water is turned on?
You can but you may get a little wet.
@@ThatFixItGuy Should I not do it then? Turning the main water off is proving to be a problem too. Will water come from where the handle is? I don't want to do anything I can't undo.
Water should not come out where the handle is. I replaced mine with the water still on. You will have to hold the stem and try get the screw out that holds the handle off. If you want send me a picture so I can see exactly what you are working on. Ufix247@gmail.com.
@@ThatFixItGuy Sent the email. Thank you
I got it. We will get this figured out.
What the?!!! 😆
I use my lighter for cigrits all day long.
It is nice to have one when needed! Thanks for watching!
What if half of the handle is broken how do I get it off
I ended up cutting mine off. is the screw still in the handle?
@@ThatFixItGuy yes it was stuck but I sprayed it with a lubricant it can twist on now with a wrench thank you 😊
Man-Cave.
I do need a man cave! A really big man cave!
Wat if you don’t have anything at all to use
You can but a square stop wrench like I have that works or Buy a longer screw with a hex head on it and a couple of nuts that fit that screw. Tighten both nuts to the faucet and then you can use a nut driver to open and close. If I have time I will make a video making a handle.
I appreciate your videos I’m 60 years old as I live alone in apartments and no income and I drive eaither and I don’t have my own thingy and no one wants to lend one out which is totally understandable I need my own anyway or just any type of thingy to turn the water spickit off and on with , thank you so much for your wat you do
who steals water? Is that a thing?
LOL I love your Channel name! It totally happens. I don't know why people would steal water either.
Believe it or not, I had someone on my back porch who turned my water on and I didn’t have the handle/spigot on it. I guess they were hot!!!
@mischiccable 😳 I guess they were. Pretty daring being up on someone’s porch!
First turn off water
That's not a fix. That's a workaround
4 way stem key is $10... that’s pricey?
Lol Well it is more than I wanted to spend on that repair. Plus a bit bulkier. Thank you for checking out the video.
Lol
Bootleg
Great tips brother. Hope you and your family have a great Easter
Happy Easter to you and your family as well Steve! Thank you for watching!
i bought a house and we have that key but the previous owner has mis-used the bit on the wall and stripped the bolt round. Can you do a tutorial on how to replace the part on the wall or do I have to call a professional to replace it? sorry if im using the wrong terms, english is not my first language.
Can you see a manufacturer or numbers on the hose bib? Will have to have that info to get the right parts.
Thanks for this video. Our outdoor faucet handle just keeps turning and we have to push it in as we turn to turn off/on. This video is helpful but a question: I tried to unscrew the handle but the flat-head screw won't budge. How do I get it off? TIA
Spray it with some penetrating oil. PB Blaster is what I used. You may have to let it sit for a while. That being said I also had to break the handle to get a better bite on the screw
looks easy so I tried it but it didn't work. I used the sillcock key to try to shut it off, but it just kept turning, just like it did with the knob. Please help? What does this mean?
If that is the case you may have a broken stem.
@@ThatFixItGuy the plumbers are telling me that I have a frost proof that has busted because I didn't unscrew the hose and that they have to cut into the drywall and that it will cost hundreds of dollars. It is a 40 year old faucet. Am I being taken?
@@wesreid8393 that could be the case. You should always disconnect your hose from the bib in the winter. Is it leaking the the house? or is it just not working? Most plumbing companies will replace rather than repair. if it is that old may be worth getting a new one put in,
What about when the screw that holds the round handle on is stuck and the handle is so calcified that it actually breaks off when I tried to turn it with pliers?
I would spray down the handle with some PB blaster then try to take that screw out. If that works you can get a replacement handle.
My handle just broke off today🤷🏻♀️😞 but I have no idea how to fix it or where to put it on. Gonna have to call a plumber. Luckily I was able to take some pliers and turn it off
Thanks for the tips Brian! Nice temporary fix! Plumbing made easy!
Your welcome! I am going to make it look a bit more pretty, but I think it will last a while.
