Hi Kevin and thanks for tuning in. Glad you're enjoying the videos....the final video in the 'Goodbye Camper, Hello Caravan' series will be released next Friday. Make sure you watch to the very end!
Thanks Gwalia23, that's a great idea. I carry a 20L tank and soap dispenser on the side of the camper trailer, so this would be the obvious location for a water tank!!
mmm, I am thinking ( some engineering design and process reservations) - drawbar mods / extension without engineering assessment? = not a good start - not my way..... "but sir, ol mate said it would be ok"= asking for trouble, both from a safety perspective AND from a compliance perspective - seem to have little or no awarness that increasing the drawbar length and loads has a significant impact on the vehicle structural stresses and ADR structural compliance - The likelyhood that the OEM ATM will be exceeded with the additional loadings available is high. If this does occur you will likely need an engineer to assess the vehicle as part of any ATM upgrade. better to get the engineer on board earlier than later in the build - thre are better ways of strenthening a drawbar that a traditional "flat bar strongback" under the box section. The down side of the strong back is that the most highly stressed part of the drawbar (now the bottom edge of the strongback) has the least metal ( just an edge) to do the job asked of it.. I complement you on your welding and workmanship - nice - good video Is you youu tube channel about how to get your self in trouble?
I used Fiddly Bits aerosol spray paint...Grey Primer, followed by Gloss Aluminium. For cleaning the surface of dirt and rust, etc. a wire cupped wheel on a grinder, or a flappy disc on a grinder will get your metal clean and ready for paint.
Have the same sized tube on my van , holds a 2 part surf rod , 4 tent poles , 2 pool noodles and my flick rod .
Thanks for the suggestions, Rodney. I have been thinking about using the space for a cylindrical water tank.
Hi Rusty , just found your channel , enjoying watching the videos

Good video mate
Thankyou....glad you enjoyed the video.
Many things could travel in the pipe. Hose for waste dumping or gold panning/sluicing. Sectional communication tower, tent frame, stove pipe
Thanks Daniel. I think I'll put my support poles for my airhead toilet tent and the Celfi go antenna extension mast in there.
Good job Rusty
Thanks Kman, it's slowly getting there!
As for the pipe....Fill it with your gold findings!!🙂
Let's hope I can find some really big nuggets to fill that pipe!!
Could make a water tank out of the storm water pipe.

hey what did you prime and paint your drawbar with? looks great, i need to redo mine, do you recommend a method to remove any surface rust thanks

@@RustysOutbackAdventures thanks mate has it held up well
Water tank or fishing rods if interested in fishing
Thanks Russell. A water tank is a great idea. I do go fishing but not when we're out prospecting, though.
How about your BBQ tripod stand
I think I'm going to put the Yagi antenna pole in the front tube and put a water tank/tube on the rear carrier.
