He was one of the most initimdating wrestlers EVER. His gimmick and look was nuts, cross-eyes, unibrow, Z in his head, but he was terrifying. Only other guy who had a look on that level was Khali.
The Hogan Zues stuff was awesome. I loved it. I hate listening to people crap on this. Summer Slam 89 is still my favorite SS & that main-event is my favorite SS main-event. It was so much fun to watch. My wife isn't a wrestling fan & she loved that match especially Scary Sherri
The man was literally a movie star. He already had a fanbase. His value was highly established before he even got dressed to leave his home to head to his first appearance. lol The business treated him as such. I can definitely understand why others would feel some type of way about it, and I likely would have also, but that's just the reality.
Great character but he couldn't wrestle a lick. His match against Abdullah the Butcher pretty much summed up his wrestling abilities.Tiny was well liked backstage though, very humble guy
when the movie and wrestling angle came out I was still somewhat naive and not 100% of everything that "real" and what wasn't. when Tiny came into the wwf even I knew it was b.s.. it kinda ruined things for me by exposing the "acting" part. thank you Jake. you were a joy to boo and cheer.
He made his money, served his purpose, put over the top guy and still looked menacing. He never had the need to come back. Not a good wrestler by any means, but as a 12-13 year old fan ( WWF’s target audience at the time) You believed it. R.I.P Tiny
How awesome would it have been if Zues uppercut Hogan and layed him out, then while he was laying there Smokey jumped into the ring from the front row and stood over Hogan saying "you got knocked the fukc out."
He was black and drew more money than a lot of white wrestlers at the time. Just tell it like it was instead of saying " they hated him because he was human" bs.
@@dailyselfimprovementredpil4671 ok I’ll just agree that whatever anyone says is right and I’m always wrong smh.You are the typical narcissist troll accept it🙄
Vince didn't want to train a dude to pop bigger than Hogan, it's simple as that. Vince catered to a white audience for half his tenure as owner and didn't want to alienate his customers. Macho was as black as you were gonna get.
Why didn't anyone hate Ted Debiase then? He came on the scene in 87 and a year later was main eventing with Hulk Hogan. Debiase got first class treatment as well. So if you're gonna hate Zues and hate Warrior, add Debiase to that list, because he was favored too.
@@jprice6419 Guys like Zues & Warrior were built. They spent most of their time in the gym. That is why they didn't have a 5 star match. It's not like they brought nothing to the table.
@@jamesmuller1481 Very true you only have so many hours a day. Working out for 4-6hrs each day, travel and sleeps does not give you much time to learn a few more moves. The owners know how much bringing in a guy Like "Mr. T" can boost interest and that means money. It is very easy to feel rejected when someone with low ring IQ makes 10x or 100x someone who has been a mid card guy for 10years. It is always little easier for a locker room to respect a star that came up the same way they.
@@jprice6419 That's right. It would be impossible to have a body like warriors and be a skilled wrestler. You can tell most of his time was spent working out. Plus he did his own make up and promos. The only wrestler i saw who ad a muscular body and ring skills was The british bulldog, but he had no mic skills.
The movie was good, for what it was. But Zues being there was ridiculous. He sucked and could barely move. I feel Jake's pain on this one. His matches sucked ass.
Lister looked utterly unhinged. It sold.
Zeus had the look for the ultimate Hogan challenge. Fit the part perfectly and made good money and merch.
He was one of the most initimdating wrestlers EVER. His gimmick and look was nuts, cross-eyes, unibrow, Z in his head, but he was terrifying. Only other guy who had a look on that level was Khali.
Zeus Drew more money with Hogan than anybody on the roster could at the time that's why he was paid handsomely he deserved all the 💰💰he got
Exactly, it's a business at the end of the day. Plus Zeus was only there from the Summer until December.
Damn right
The end of day the bottom line is money. Lister put people in seats when he wrestled.
Agreed
Exactly some of the old-school guys are marks
A monster wrestler in that time. I was afraid of him.

Because Savage did most of the wrestling.
Did it get us kids excited for SummerSlam? Big time. It worked and that's all that matters

I agree he could not wrestle. It did not matter he had the look, and I guess that is what Vince wanted.
Everybody says that about tiny and it really comes through in his latter movies how cool it was
@@dominicalberto2179Tom "Tiny, Zeus"Lister, Jr. seemed more like a brawler than a wrestler.
Good ol'Jake. Tell it like it is!🤓😎✌🏻
Sounds like how the WWE talent felt about Mr T in 1985
I wonder what BEEFCAKE BARBER thought about Zeus.
Beefcake Barber I'm going to destroy you
😄
BEEFCAKE BARBER, you less than nothing!
HOLT HOLKGUN, BEEFCAKE BARBER we are going to destroy youuuuu arghhh!!!!
Lol man. My childhood friends and I will still yell BEEFCAKE BARBER at each other randomly
Zeus was pretty fearsome when he beat up Hogan's little brother Randy in that movie. No one cared about the guy's rasstlin' skills back then.

He was basically there on the tv programs to promote the movie.
Could You Actually Imagine "Tiny" Lister with a Hybrid/Combat Sports Skill Set?
Give him a break,he was an actor. That's not his fault. He was asked to come aboard.
They still mean to this day

Exactly
I lay no blame on Tom. Vince just didn't have him properly trained. Imagine if Tom could wrestle, he would've been bad arse!
He would have made an excellent slave
He needed Promo Training by Jake , and on the Technical side, Brett Hart.
It was all about marketing and the look to sell their merch Zeus was a Hot Commodity.
Hogan seemed very weak in the presence of Zeus.
???
i always wondered why zeus left? he was so popular
Wrestlers break into acting smh hypocritical you think?
The fact he was the wrong hue probably didn't help matters either...
His arms weren’t bigger than Hogans his triceps were insane
Same difference stop reaching and just accept it

Ted was good at his job, people know that skilled people get paid more. Its workers who feel that they are worth more than a new guy who know nothing.

Then you have Lashley

Imagine zeus vs ultimate warrior

down a black man who can't fight back, good job..

What's Tom's race got to do with it? Dude couldn't wrestle. Not his fault he wasn't properly trained. Blame that Irish twit McMahon!
That angle almost killed the business. You can tell how fake it really was.

I November Zeus in wrestling
How about December and January?
