    Well now wait a minute. I just went through a terrible terrible IBS condition that kept me in the restroom two days and three nights with sore stomach and get muscles and I also battle chronic insomnia. The first thing I had to do was go on the brat diet which is all white And now I am trying to get my health back with better choices of eating again. I went to a lot of potluck and ate a lot of casseroles with lots of cheese and spices and mini things I probably should not have indulged in as much as I did. Now I am ready to get back on the right track But it is also important to me at my older age of 75 to get back into regular exercising and regular sleep which I haven’t had in about three years. I can use all the help I can get starting with my core.

    I have a really bad back with four rods along my spine and a lower spine now deteriorating. I’m hoping I’ve found something I can do to start working out of control abdominal

    Can’t wait to try this. After a baby I need to tone up my belly but I’ve rheumatoid arthritis so can’t do many normal exercise routines that are aimed at other 30 year olds!

    Hi Cindy, just found tire videos and love the transversus abdominus workouts! I teach senior stretch and yoga and Pilates classes. Always looking for different workouts.everything on hold here in Pennsylvania per Covid! Have to stay in shape, though! Just turned 66! Keep it going!

    Cindy I've had neck and back surgery..I've gained so much weight ..My abs, butt and legs ..Before my surgeries I workout 4 days a week...I'm really afraid because I'm still having pain in my lower back..I'm going to try some of your exercises because I really feel bad about the way I'm I'm looking..I was really in shape before

      Beverly, thank you for reaching out. Make sure you have been cleared for exercise by your doctor.     Hello again Cindy!
    I have trouble with the exercise when you lay on the mat, knees up, & reach for your heel side to side with your head off the mat. Should I put a small pillow under my head to elevate it? My neck doesn't like being off the mat.

      I just saw another trainer do that. I am not a big fan of it as I think it leaves the cervical spine in an unnatural curve for too long. I liked another trainers take which said for a couple of weeks, simply do one to two on each side It is in the thinking that over time the neck area will strengthen and adapt. If it doesn't (slow and steady) then I would skip it and do a standing option, just reaching down the side of your leg toward your foot.....Good for you taking time to work your core. It is the basis for all movement. Continue to stay strong and healthy!

      You cannot target fat with these exercises. You can strengthen abdominals but you can't spot remove fat.

    How long is this supposed to take? I've been doing your ab workouts, plus cardio and yoga for a month, one each day. I'm not seeing any improvement. I'm careful what I eat, and don't eat processed food, sweets or meat even.

      Thanks for asking. It took me 3 months to get rid of my stubborn muffin top. Take and measure your waist and see if there is a difference after three months time. I had to eliminate everything white, flour, sugar, potato chips, etc.. ice cream and sweets or it would go right to my midsection. I also added a ten minute walk, easy pace, after my largest meal to speed up my metabolism When folks get discouraged, I encourage them to keep going as to avoid adding more inches to the waist by giving up. Maintenance is important, too! Good luck and keep me posted.

    When we are on our back, how high do I lift my chin? I am Large breasted . so if I lift my chin only 1 inch it only bring me up off the mat and I don't feel anything.

      So I had to get on the floor and retry this and you are right! If you do not squeeze your transverse muscle, below your belly button at the same time you lift even less than an inch, you feel no benefits. Try it again tightening and if that doesn't work for you just skip it. Not every exercise works for everyone. There are so many to choose from so just stay consistent on you favorites.     Hi, just watched this video, I have had 2 c section births. I can not feel below my bellybutton, it is numb. I have not seen a exercise video for women yet, where the instruction talks about it, and what can be done to get rid of that area of fat.

      Yes they do. All exercise needs to be under the supervision of your doctor. For instance, the core exercises in this video may not work for my ladies with neck injuries, or back problems. The human body is a wonder, however, to each person it is individualized, if that makes sense. For instance, I know from my doctors, would cringe if they saw me doing a burpee or jumping off of tires as they do in some high intensity classes. With my arthritis, it would destroy me!! Listen to your body and the advise of your doctor and in my opinion, any exercise that causes pain should not be done. Only a physical therapist in my opinion is knowledgeable enough to know what level of pain is necessary for healing and growth. Whew, thanks for asking!

    Great, how do I protect my neck while reaching for my heels while on my lieing on my back?

      Thank you for your question. You can just reach along the floor without raising your head and neck off the floor. Even better would be to stand and reach behind toward your heel a minimum of 8 times each side. You can still get the same benefit.
      If you have had a neck injury, generally it is best to stay away from any crunches on the floor. The standing workout would be the better choice. If it is simply a weak neck, I would make sure my chin is in proper alignment (apple or fist's distance from your chin to your chest. Do not round and tuck the chin as you come up) and start with just a couple of crunches adding a few over time as you notice the neck muscles becoming stronger. Too many exercisers pull on the neck muscles when they crunch up instead of concentrating on using the abdominal wall entirely to lift them up.

      You’re re too young to be feeling your age!! Way too young. I’ve just begun to “feel my age” and that is simply because I stopped doing my exercise routine. Today I came across Cindy’s video. I’m getting out of my lounge chair and going down on the floor again - using her excellent workout. She has a few new moves I haven’t tried. I’ll get back to you in 6 months with 2 inches gone from my protruding belly.

      Glad you enjoyed the exercises...Yes I do eat . I work with a dietician to help control my arthritis so many of the foods I eat to fight the inflammation are very low in calories.

      Without being able to watch your form, it is hard to say what went wrong. It could be overuse of muscles, not engaging your ab muscles properly, and more. Skip this workout for now and and try an ab or back stretch routine not on the floor found at our website www.fitnesswithcindy.com . Do not work in pain! And keep me posted.

      Yes, what we eat has a lot to do with our core. High glycemic foods can cause fat to be stored on the belly! Attention to what we eat along with staying active can help fight this buildup. Thanks for watching!

    Is there a beginner Zuma DVD or video that you can recommend. Remember I am 75 years old but I would like to get in better shape and get part of these fat flabby arms back in shape as well. I weigh 177 and I should weigh about 157. I also battle IBS and have chronic insomnia.

    Any kind crunches do not not feel SAFE. Chiropractor showed this person she has a small intestinal HERNIA. CAN HERNIAS HEAL ??? WHAT can we do differently.???
