really cool to see how many sequence breaks you can make. getting the corruption key was pretty insane, too. also one of the only playthroughs where pearlwood equipment is even remotely viable lol
I wonder how a challenge would work if you had time permanently sped up w/ journey mode. It would force you to finish all bosses extremely quickly at every stage, and probably some other weird effects I can't think of right now
you would need to speedrun bosses, quest fish would be harder to get, corruption would spread like crazy but on the plus side you would get a lot of traveling merchants, plantera bulbs wouldn't be a problem to find and npcs would respawn really fast after a destroyer fight
1:13 At this moment you actually have a perfect setup for farming basic slimes; for whatever reason a 1 block gap framed this way is enough to attack with weapons like copper shortsword, and you can aim slightly to the right to knock the slime against the wall so it doesn't break free. This lets you get full damage uptime on slimes to get torches at a bearable speed. This works against fighter enemies too, though many fighters have at least 1 small variant that can just slip through anyway and kill you. Goblin Army can't naturally spawn until you have 200+ HP and have broken a shadow orb. Killing BoC/EoW is insufficient. 8:06 Mimics will actually never jump away from you to realign themselves, you could have gotten close enough to block it in immediately in a tiny space, though preferably you'd also break any sloped blocks near it before actually attacking it after that because slopes are weird and I've had a Mimic clip through a wall because of one before. You can also put a block over its head when it lands and it will effectively be stuck as long as there's a block in front of it and you don't go behind it; at this point you could do the same position as 1:13 and kill it with a shortsword. ...Skyblock made me learn weird things.
tbf i think you did pretty good, expert has a lot of preparedness needed so its not surprised it still took some time as that's how expert is, its made harder since you have to spend less time mining that you don't get to find possibly useful statues like heart statues as standing around could lead to a quick death often in the caves. If i did the challenge, i have to decide what weapon would get me early quick progression, especially pickaxe and armor set fast enough without too much worry as i feel that's the main important part of it, weapon first, pickaxe next, armor last (if i can tolerate being that squishy lol), accessories just end up being whatever I can grab at the time.
Really fun idea! I like how it's like a playthrough + and experiment. Very interesting. If I were to do this I'd probably fish like my life depended on it lol.
This was actually the very first challenge I did, excluding the whole "Right before moon lord" I was just a brand new character stuck in a hardmode world. My best source was fishing and death pits with hoiks so I could kill slimes, zombies and werewolves. It was wraiths and ghosts that always killed me. Me and my friend would always stick together screaming "LINE OF DEFENCE!" as soon as one of them spawned to kill us.
I've had this idea for years. I wish there was a world option to start your world in hardmode once you've been there once. It's such a unique way to play the game
I'm at the 8:30 mark, and seeing all those vines growing all over the house is just painful for me to look at. Hopefully you end up changing the ceiling's material to Hallowed Sandstone Bricks or something like that later down the line.
Great video! Have you ever tried a fishing only challenge? Or a challenge where you start in journey mode, but only to turn the difficulty up to classic or higher and make the enemy spawn 10. No other journey mode powers, like duping or godmode. Seems very hard to me, would love to see you try it. Good luck

now starting with hard mode is not enough, we go straight before moon lord!
actually, calamity with post moon lord starting is quite interesting come to think of it (or even pre scal if it’s even possible to do)
I bet you were excited to see that corruption key drop lol
Fitting for your first weapon to be a wand of sparkling.
this was cool to come to for my breakfast (and after playing tears of the kingdom all night but we won't talk about that)
16:20 That pause had me rolling lmao
Lucky, Lucky boi
Edit: that Uzi drop made me laugh harder thats alot of luck
23:33 Duke Fishron with the Shrimpy Truffle: *_Am I a joke to you?_*
Yeah, I'm not waiting for rain when I can just fly quickly infinitely with the soaring insignia.
@@WandofSparking True, though you also get the insane speed boost at under half health. But anyways great video, it's very entertaining.
I like how many niche and forgotten weapons you end up using once it's actual progress to get them.
I'm at the 8:30 mark, and seeing all those vines growing all over the house is just painful for me to look at. Hopefully you end up changing the ceiling's material to Hallowed Sandstone Bricks or something like that later down the line.
Keep up the grind! Love this vids!
Great video! Have you ever tried a fishing only challenge? Or a challenge where you start in journey mode, but only to turn the difficulty up to classic or higher and make the enemy spawn 10. No other journey mode powers, like duping or godmode. Seems very hard to me, would love to see you try it. Good luck
If I did this playthrough, I would’ve immediately gone for the toxicarp… that things OP. No ammo, good damage, range and easy to obtain. (Just build a box around a corrupt lake.
I really want to try this challenge, also I love the inside story music you use for your videos
Thanks for the guy who gived 150 member on the live
hes such daddy
This is the most normal playthrough I've seen you do
This is how the game should be anyway, I hate the fetch and kill chain, this is a genius idea, I may well play again thanks to this. It's been years.
