I'm in St Joseph, Missouri and I'm planning on trying this on the floor boards of my trike. Did you use fiberglass resin?
Finland
im doing this on 2 boats this weekend awesome thanks my 2 boats go in the water in a week or so so im going to try this mainly along the sides of the boats ! have a good one mate .
i thought of this but never knew which exact grit or sand to use .
kind regards .
awesome tip saves a fair whack of money ,thanks.
Im about to resin the floor and bottom of my boat. I was worried about working time but this makes me a lot more confident it will be easier than scraping gelcoat and re-spraying phenolic resin based paint without a doubt. I hope this gets more views man, good job!
Mrmghz1 thank you very much for your feedback and I hope it works as well for you as it did for me. Tight lines.
Black Diamond Blasting Sand; 50lb for $7.99 at Tractor Supply. A consistent sand for a professional looking finish.
enjoyed ya vid thanks for posting -UK
Im doing this on my deck next spring, thank you
It's a pleasure. Glad that you found it useful.
Could you list the materials you used, this is exactly what I need for my boat deck and flooring. Thanks a bunch......
I searched for a raisin recipe. Thank you RUclips!
Good video bro realy apreciate
hot reels cheers bro I’m glad you liked it.
We did this in the army on foot holds and decks of equipment. Just sand the paint 2 coats. Does it where sure but that’s constantly placing your food into placed the anti slip tap was expensive and hard to get didn’t work so well on scraper ladder steps bu the sand on paint painted over worked
I'm no expert but maybe add a couple more layers of sand and resin. It looks a bit splotchy and I think the extra layers of resin would also help lock in the sand. Other than that I think it looks good man.
Nice
Thank you
Old school Mexican... I love it.
That is such a good idea!
Hook, Line and Kyle P. Thanks mate. Yes it works great 😃🎣
Lekker
Do you think this would work for the inside of a kayak? Looking for a nonslip option for my dogs on the kayak while also not getting really hot like a black spray on bed liner. I used the "peel and stick" foam mats but this tend to want to peel back up.
Hi. yes I recon it could as long as you give it a good sanding with heavy grit sand paper before applying the resin and
and a couple layers of paint after applying the sand it should be good.
Nice brother 🙌🏽
Thank you
Can this be done on top of bare plywood or does it have to be done on a fiberglass surface? Thanks man good video
I’m sure you can do it on bare ply if you wanted too. It won’t be water proof though and you would have to do a coat of resin and let it dry in order to have a base for the sand and resin layer to grip onto. then do second coat and throw the sand over. The problem with this is it won’t be water tight and the 1st time it gets wet it would probably warp.
it's been 3 years. Can you tell us if it lasted over time? and how does it feel under bare feet
still looking pretty good. theres only one patch on the deck that started waring off and its on a place that does not even get much used so thinking I might not have let it dry for long enough before removing excess sand. otherwise its still in perfect condition. because I used Gell coat over the top of the sand, its much smoother and I never thought it feels too rough on my bare feet.
@@FishingAdventuresHB Thank you for the quick response. i'm sure people will appreciate the update. link for gel coat?
What's the name of clear product you added?
Are you talking about the one to harden the resin or to thin it out?
Fishing Adventures Hawkes Bay first product to hold the sand.
It is called Resin. The Same resin you would use for Fiberglassing.
Fishing Adventures Hawkes Bay ok, thanks. How long of wait for paint to dry? Name of that blue? Laying down new flooring next week.
The gelcoat paint normally dries within 3-4hrs remember gelcoat is not normal paint as it is resin based and also needs hardnet added for it to be able to cure. That colour is called backwater blue.
is that epoxy resin?is that simple blue paint?
Buster BROWN yes epoxy resin but the paint is called flowcoat. It’s like gellcoat but has wax added for a smoother glossy finish.
nice 1 cheers.
Thank you.
Come back Jono.
Hi my friend. Nice to hear from you. Sorry i have been so quiet and slacking on my uploads. Ive been so busy lately and hardly have any time for myself or making videos. I have started a small Bait and Tackle busyness and it required a lot of my attention. im working on a video now and it will be going live soon. Thank you for the message i really appreciate it. catch you soon. Cheers Jono
I was about to buy carpet until I came across this idea. Carpet looks pretty but holds too much water imo
yeah mate its very easy to keep clean and durable too I have it on the boat for almost 3 years now and it's still in very good shape. my concern in the beginning was that it would be a bit rough on your feet, especially if your fishing bare feet but surprisingly it hasn't been bad at all.
yeah and it will catch every fish hook in the boat
the carpet that is
Not sand, 'grits'.
GOOD TRY YOU ALMOST GOT IT NEED BETTER TAPE LINES AND BODY WORK BUT LOOKS OK
Like watching paint dry
