I try to search this song for almost 20 years. I heard this song on the radio when i was in high school. Today is my birthday, and suddenly i heard this song on the radio. I immediately turned on Shazam and voila, finally I know the song name and the band. I think this was a birthday present to me.
How anyone could not love this song is beyond me. This song saved me at one very down point in my life, listened to it over & over and finally covered it with my band.
Four years after you wrote this comment, and I just want to stop for a moment and say that I am happy that you were saved! Have a blessed and joyful new year and rest of your life! :)
This song will forever be in a playlist on any device I own... love this vibe.... no matter how many times I hear it, it never grows old..... Rest in paradise Shawn Smith🙏🏾🙏🏾🕊
Una de las mejores voces Shawn Smith... Y está excelente canción the days brings... Me transporta a la época cuando estaba en la secundaria a mediados o fines de los 90's no recuerdo bien el año y la escuché por primera vez. Que recuerdos!!.. y no olvidar 20th Century otra excelente canción!! De esta gran banda Brad!!..
My brother and I used to work at a regional retailer here in south Texas called HEB, and there, we came to discover this song over the store's music broadcasts. Now, over 15+ years later, I absolutely love this song!
i love to tell the story of how my buddy who is a flight attendant worked a private gig one summer and flew w/ pearl jam on tour and i gave him my Brad cd hoping for signature from stone. instead they listened to the disc.
I saw Brad open Pearl Jam in Seattle 12/08/2002. They replaced Mudhoney and I didn't know until I was in the merch line. I had a near meltdown being a fan since the 1st lp. The past few years, Shawn and I exchanged messages on Facebook, he was cool like that with us. Knowing there will never be another breaks my heart. Fly high my friend!!!
It's unfortunate that he never got the commercial success he deserved. He was cheated out of a career, and music fans for decades were deprived of his great music
@@unclececil so very sorry that this amazing talented man passed away. But sad to know about his hard luck. You just never know how things will turn out. Thank you for your reply.
Jeez. I finally found this song. M2 (now called MTV2) played this video a lot in the summer of 1997 when the channel was still pretty new and I could never remember who sang it, but remembered the guy's voice and the nice video. Now I'm reading the singer passed away and I feel like I discovered this band too late. What an amazing song, I've been playing it everyday.
Shawn Smith ruled a large part of my musical 90s, seemed like any moment a Brad, Satchel or Pigeonhed album could drop, all wonderful pieces of soulfood. Shawn had magic in his fingertips
Yeah, when I broke up with my first love, whom I was with for 4 years, I didn't really think that I'd ever see the world as a beautiful place again. This song came on at just exactly the right moment. This is one of the few songs I'll never forget. As an aside, another of those songs is Moby, In My Heart.
Hold up your end and I'll hold up mine Dancin' all the time Dancin' all the time And too late, father You know that that's for sure You never find a way Never find a way So gather around And see what the day brings And see what makes you laugh And see what makes you sing And never, nevermind the thing that people say You'll never go away You'll never go away Who knows where the storm will take us Who knows when the pain will break us When will all the G's be given Another chance to live in freedom Hey now, get your heart Get your heart off of the shelf Make the grey sky blue Yeah, I'm talkin' to you And nevermind The sick and the afraid Askin' out today to see a brighter day So gather around And see what the day brings And see what makes you laugh And see what makes you sing And never, nevermind the thing that people say You'll never go away You'll never go away Who knows where the storm will take us Who knows when the pain will break us When will all the G's be given Another chance to live in freedom So gather around And see what the day brings And see what makes you laugh And see what makes you sing And never, is nevermind Nevermind the thing that people say You'll never go away You'll never go away So gather around And see what the day brings See what makes you laugh And what makes you sing
Went on holiday to Greece, saw this in duty-free 'thought I'd buy it!! Played it on the trip , on the beach at the hotel , even the people who was with us asked us to put that cd on again please
I was 14 years old when I saw this video randomly on TV . The tune was always in my mind years passed and finally I found Brad that was the only reference I had. I'm 42 right now. ❤ beautiful song.
Lynn Leslie I got to say I loved him and thanked him for OUR happiness in his music and song and his absolute precious presence before he got real sick and passed ... I hope he’s an angel of mine.. he wrote back before he left to heaven.... just wow, just wow.. and he knew he was loved
Brad is so great and so underrated. Let's not forget the excellent keyboard work Shawn has done for this band as well. Thanks for posting, awesome video!!
What a great song, music has really took a turn for the worse over the years especially main stream music. It's all polished up beauty queens and models with a Mic nobody writes their own music or has any attachment to feel what they play.
Yay! I have all Brad and Satchel albums...I love this sound. I never saw a video of their's. Thanks for posting this. Where is Shawn? What a great voice.

Here in 2024 and this song still breaks my fucking heart. 💙

Has been forever in my playlist
I knew it from living in the Seattle
Area, and it being in the 1998 Alice in Wonderland TV movie. Took years to discover the band.
Never understood why this band wasn't more popular. So much talent.
Same here. 🤷🏻♂️🤨🤔

This was Stone Gossard’s side project. He might not have meant it to be a long-term project.

I'm getting our band to cover it. I will sing and drum. Stoked!

this song was playing in the grocery store today and I was asked who it was as I was singing along.
Simply beautiful and inspiring.
something out of the grunge status!.....really enjoyed them!
It is hard big man, it is hard.

shawn smith has a beautiful voice
Awesome -- also reminds me of the sadly-neglected band The Call -- for evidence check out their also-forgotten "When" anthem!
Genius subtle use of percussion in this tune…
Chilled tune. Got respect for Stone trying different things. Rather he did than didn't.
