When I first started on my plant journey I ordered some plants from my own country Canada 🇨🇦 The difference between reputable online merchants and just plant stores that ship is huge! Online stores tend to stand behind their products even if cold damage occurs while others will take the sale and send the plants on a Thursday so you get your plant the following week after the first snowstorm of the year! ☃️❄️
🇦🇺🙋🏻 hey Memo, very interesting information. I do watch import unboxings with a twinge of envy, the cost is extremely expensive here. Unfortunately, this means that what is available here is the plants that sell and finding something unique as opposed to popular takes a lot of web surfing. We do have 3 quarantine states, so plants can be sent out, but unless you have accreditation, you can't send plants in. For the most part, nurseries do a great job at packaging plants, usually my plants are in transit for 3 - 4 days, although my most recent order took 8 days, from the next state 🤦🏻 rehab anyone? lol
I work at a uk garden center and we got a trolley of poinsettia from a uk grower which hadn't filled in the plant passport properly, it flagged up with defra and they were immediately on the doorstep looking through the plants at all the centers the grower had dealt with. Paperwork! Its hella important!
Does anyone have any idea on response time or acknowledgment time for an ecuagenera US order? Bought plants 2 weeks ago and not heard anything yet. Sure they are very busy and what not but it always put you on edge you don’t hear anything for a while
It can vary, @DopeyIan88 . 🤔 Try reaching out directly to their customer service. with me usually within 24-48 hours on average I get a response. Hope you hear back soon! 🌱

Update: the plants arrived 3 weeks after the order was placed… almost out of the blue. Got an email the day before dpd delivered them. They seemingly just don’t do payment confirmation correspondence. They are beautiful 😍
I’m in Michigan, USA. My only import experience was with SucculentAsia. I placed an order at the beginning of August ‘23, purchased the phyto, and shipment was due to arrive at the beginning of September. I tracked the package daily, and it was soon the end of September before customs sent the package back to the seller. I emailed the company and didn’t hear back until just before Christmas. She offered my money back or a re-shipment of the sansevierias and I chose to receive the plants… they arrived in January, in Michigan, in 32 degree snowy weather. 🤦🏽♀ My mailbox is a lock box and the lock decided to break on that day. 😠 They sat in the cold temps for 36 hours before they could come in and get warm. I let them thaw over night, put the roots in water for a few days, and planted them up. I ordered 12 plants and I ended up losing 4. The lady stayed in touch with me during the entire time and was extremely helpful. She knows of 2 of them not making it and said when I place another order, she’ll replace them. As I told her, this was a series of unfortunate events and not her fault nor mine. I will order from them again, their service is really good. I ordered 2 plants about a month after the first order and that arrived with no issues. I did hear someone say online that if there’s 12 or more plants it sends a red flag to customs and I ordered 12. 🤷🏻♀ Not sure if that’s true or not.
Hello, i am in the uk, can someone confirm that the phytosanitary certificate is the only thing a private buyer needs to import to the uk? I heard mention of something called a PEACH certification that the buyer needed to import. I really want to import some anthuriums but this is worrying me a lot incase customs could retain my expensive order.
I am constantly amazed when I'm browsing eBay, to see plants are available from Indonesia for Australian customers. You cannot import plants into Australia unless you're prepared to send them to Quarantine for weeks first, which is costly. Sellers will tell you that the plants come with a certificate, but this is in no way enough. If caught, the plant will be confiscated and the buyer could end up in a lot of legal trouble. If the plant does make it though then pests from other Countries could wind up here. Relax, Don't do it!
I believe there is an interesting option with unflasked tissue culture plants as the authorities can instantly see if they are contaminated so they don't need the full quarantine process YMMV. Could be worth a look if you're interested in that.
