Your teaching is very clear and enjoyable, especially when it comes to pronunciation. I would like to learn more, starting from the foundations and progressing forward. I'm looking forward to it.
Very helpful, and one of the best language videos for travelers I've seen. Just the basics to get started. I'm heading to Vietnam in April, and will be brave in the restaurants!
this was so helpful and helped me learn new phrases! I love your teaching style and would love if you did more videos like these (in general not just for travelers) !
Plan on heading to Vietnam next year. Looking forward to meeting the lovely person I am currently talking to. Her English is good but I want to learn Vietnamese. I find it difficult but am grateful for this channel and many others who are teaching it. Who knows. I might end up getting together with her or someone else in Vietnam. Either way I was planning on vacationing there. I am interested in the culture and seeing the way of life. I have heard many pros about Vietnam. Yes there are downsides but that's everywhere. Can't wait to go.
Thanks for giving it a try Stephanie ❤️. We love it when someone would like to learn and speak the language and I'm glad to hear that you received some warm welcome from the store ☺️
I have been in Vietnam several times, I have no problem at all, a lot of people speak Cantonese. Hotel , shopping center, restaurants a lot of people speak Cantonese.
You are super cute! So terrific at getting my American speaking mind to understand how to make my mouth sound out these expressions pretty well. This is a very difficult language for me and most English only speakers but if I can learn enough to not offend while being understood then I think that will be fabulous! I know this comment is 5 yrs late of post but maybe you'll see it. Làm tốt lắm, hãy tiếp tục nhé!
Hi So Vietnamese Mom! I've made fantastic notes from this video - you're truly a fantastic educator! Do you happen to do FaceTime coaching? I'm doing a Contiki in six months and I really want to have a conversational knowledge of Vietnamese before I come. Another thing, do the people of Vietnam happen to know French as well as a result of colonisation? Being Australian, I try to be sensitive to how colonisation works so I don't want to step on any toes. I speak conversational French so I'm just wondering if my Vietnamese fails that maybe I can speak French instead? Thank you or cám ón!
Hi Liam, thanks a lot for the kind comment 😊 I don't do Facetime coaching unfortunately, but I can answer some of your questions here. You can definitely enjoy your trip to Vietnam without mentioning the word colonisation when you're there. We don't normally talk about it in our daily conversation. We do talk a lot about food and you can start any conversations with any one by asking where to go for the best street food. Vietnamese is the main spoken language and English is being taught at school as the 2nd language. So you should be alright in Vietnam 😊
Hello So Vietnamese mom! Thank you so much for your videos, very helpful. Is it more polite or common to use xin lỗi for saying "excuse me" (instead of cho Hồi) ?
We normally say xin lỗi for a mistake made or something has gone wrong. If you want to get the attention from people, it's better to say Anh/Chị/Em ơi, cho hỏi...
Very impressed with your British accent in English. It's very good, you've obviously studied hard to try and eliminate any accent that you might have. I think that's important when learning a language.
You are probably the best Vietnamese language teacher I have encountered. However, I had to stop listening mid lesson because of that horribly annoying loud Belltone that is constantly ringing at a volume higher than your voice.😢
some constructive advise. Please say each phrase at normal speed at least once instead of in slow motion so we can get a feel for the right way to say it. You don't do that and teach us how to say it like an alien lol. But thanks anyway .
As a professional Vietnamese speaker, I can guarantee that Vietnamese people would refer you to say it slow but correct than say it fast just for the sake of it. In general, as long as you can give it a try, we don't mind if you make a mistake.

I'm an online English teacher and your accent is absolutely beautiful!! Hard work pays off.
Thank you. Your speech sounds like a southern dialect, most notably when sayin, "Excuse me." I live in Ha Noi and usually hear, "Xin loi."
Very helpful video! Cảm ơn rất nhiều

i'm heading to Da Nang/Hoi An later this month, this video is super helpful, i'm going to try and master these and some basic food/drinks before i go!
Such a cute video. I’m moving to Vietnam. Settled😅
This was fun and way more useful than Duolingo. Thanks!
This is super helpful. Thank you so much! Would love to learn more words.
Fantastic! Very clear pronunciation of the different Vietnamese tones! Thank you for making this very helpful video!
It’s pretty simple, if she says it’s stable, say it with no up or down in your voice
If you are very unsure of someone’s age, is it more polite to say Em oi or Chi/Anh oi?
There's never really any rule you must follow. To be more polite, you can refer to them as the older pronoun as it's a way of showing respect.
Xin choa ! Cam on rat nhieu !
Beautiful very easy very helpful video. I wonder why do u have only 425 likes ... Tha ks so much for a very well explained video
It is because of the annoying Bill chiming in constantly at a loud volume. It is very distracting
What about translating the possible answers as well in each questions? :D so we can unsdertand the answers.. thank you very much! :))

me home rn : yeah i got this 💪
me in vietnam in two days calling an older man "em oi" : i don't got this
hello. i am really wanting to learn vietnamese to speak to my parents because it's so misunderstandings.
Vietnamese Language and Thai Language are quite similar but different
It's the same level of passive aggressiveness in our tone of voice 🤣
hello let me know how i can learn from you please
If I said ” Xin loi ” for excuse me it is wrong ?
My Vietnamese friends in America say not to use Xin in front of Chao. Are they right? Chao ba? Chao ong?
I was just in Vietnam last week .
They do say Xin Chao to say hello.
Cám ơn can also be Cảm ơn
Video của chị rất hay. Mãi ủng hộ chị.
Sớm ra Video tiếp theo nha.
Chị có thể tiết lộ tên của chị không? E tìm không thấy.

Thanks very helpful. BTW If the merchant doesn't want to use a calculator or give you a price quote right away blow him/her off heh!
Please tell me how to say "Where is the wash room"
You can say: "Toilet ở đâu" (which is toilet where).
How much? Oh dear
Is this for north Vietnam or south Vietnam or are they both the same?
we speak the same language so you should be fine using those phrases :)
Very impressed with your British accent in English. It's very good, you've obviously studied hard to try and eliminate any accent that you might have. I think that's important when learning a language.
I can't understand the souds she is making. They should phonetically spell them so we can get the sounds right
Who says that? We don't go around saying "XIN Chao". That's not even a greeting in Vietnam.
Then what do you do? Please enlighten us.
You are probably the best Vietnamese language teacher I have encountered. However, I had to stop listening mid lesson because of that horribly annoying loud Belltone that is constantly ringing at a volume higher than your voice.😢
