Her mother’s ignorance cost her daughter her life. I can’t imagine the fear and the pain that child endured in her final moments.
No, ignorance means "lack of knowledge" and I KNOW THIS MOTHER KNEW BETTER THAN TO LET HER CHILD GO WITH A STRANGER. This is absolutely neglect and stupidity.

The story ignored that the children had a father who was financially capable of supporting his children, but the "mother" used to biased court system to take them away from him. I am desperately sorry for this woman's tragedy but really, what was she thinking of? She was blinded to the risk she put her children in, by some Walmart tokens and a McDonalds meal. She must live with that mistake for the rest of her life. Tragically, her daughter cannot.

I sympathize with her on that point because I was at that point myself a few times during my kids younger years. However, this was too much, you NEVER let your child go off with a stranger let a lone the fact she said she felt something was off about him several times BEFORE she let her daughter go with him!!!!! That makes my blood boil, this mom was negligent and that poor baby paid the ultimate price for it 😢

That was her biggest mistake. He told her that he was there with his wife, so she unfortunately believed him. Even if she had a good feeling about him, she should never have let her daughter go without her, never! And if he doesn't want to wait for the mother: Okay, bye bye Mister.

I just want to clarify the mothers role. She was with her daughter and this monster the whole time and when she allowed him to take Cherish to go to the McDonald’s with him , they were going to a McDonald’s inside the Walmart store itself. She made HUGE mistakes and I still believe that she owns a huge part of the responsibility for her daughters murder but I also believe that she knows this and won’t ever find peace while she still breathes.
This evil beast prayed on the vulnerable, he makes me sick. Mom made glaring mistakes. Her financial vulnerability helped her into making the worst decisions in her life.
The mom also seems somewhat, slow, which I think helped the situation to escalate.
I do believe that she should not have her other children in her custody due to her inability to keep them safe 🙁
Sadly, this mom paid the highest price for allowing her desperate need for money to over ride her natural instincts which were telling her this whole situation was not right.

And just because my perception is minimally different doesn’t mean I think that she’s a saint and completely naive about the danger she put her daughter in. She states very clearly that she had a gut feeling that this man was up to no good. She gambled with her daughters life hoping that he was sincere and that’s the difference I am commenting on. Yes it’s tit for tat but for me there is a difference between being extremely stupid, hoping to get something and blatantly handing over her daughter in a cash transaction. Inadequate, weak and woolly-minded people become parents every day, prioritising their lives and their children all wrong. And predators prey on the weak, scenting blood a mile off just like a shark.
This evil paedophile summed up that mother's weakness within seconds of watching her. And he moved in for the kill. Had she been a responsible parent, he would not have approached her. A good mother is a tigress around her kids, she radiates strength and woe betide any stranger who gets too close to them! That little girl was a victim of poor parenting, as much as she was a murder victim. I sincerely hope her siblings have been taken into care, for there's no doubt her mother is an unfit parent.

She tells the dispatcher she had a bad feeling about him and didn't like what he was doing. Yet she allows her daughter out of her sight with him. I've been in desperate situations many years ago, I never once did anything that would risk my child's life.
Them saying that the mom was poor and a victim is not a good reason for letting her go with a stranger. I've been so poor with 3 kids I had to walk to the store with food in my backpack. At that time I was offered a ride and I said no. Always carry a weapon. Its a moms job to protect.

The red flag should have been "I have a gift card for another store. Get in my van and I will drive y'all there..." When she had a vehicle. Right there he could have took the mom and kids, murdered then all. There was no grooming. This was a stranger she put her and her children in a van with.

I met this sicko at a Dollar Store in Daytona a few days later he showed up across from my job at a McDonald's when i saw his face on this case i freaked out!!
At that point I think nobody knew who he was and what he had done. She discovered later that she once saw him, and that after the murder.

I’m not even 5 minutes into this video & my blood is absolutely boiling. I can’t even grasp why the mother would ever even consider going anywhere with an absolute stranger, let alone bringing her children too. I understand financial struggles. I really do. What I can’t comprehend is why she not only endangered herself but endangered her children by leaving with a strange man that’s offering money to someone with supposedly no strings attached. I felt the exact same way. This mother kept saying how she knew something wasn't right before they even got in the van from how he snapped at her but still ignored that first red flag. I actually counted atleast 4 red flags that should have alerted her before she allowed her daughter to go with the same questionable stranger to the McDonald's located somewhere in the store but away from the mothers view. This mother failed her daughter miserably in every way possible and should have been held responsible for not protecting her. Heck she basically handed her to him.

He only plead not guilty so he could relive what he had done through the trial, he knew he would get to see those images & hear every detail of her torture & death & he loved every bit of it. Another sick kick he got out of it was forcing other people (jury, judge, observers, media etc in the court room) to have those images & details in their heads for the rest of their lives. To him it was like an exhibition of his work to show off.

Unfortunately, the constitution grants every American citizen the right to have an attorney when accused of a crime. And if you cannot afford one, one is APPOINTED to you. Which means someone HAS to do that job.
According to this report, his trial defense attorneys just performed their legal obligation - and no more. They called no witnesses on his behalf, nor did they advocate for him in a closing argument. Not nasty; upholders of the law.

She didn't seem upset or anything and the stuff she said that he done to her daughter right in front of her eyes, but still let him take her off? What? There’s people that are locked up for victimless crimes but we’re letting the sickest of the sickest back out on the street this is just a huge failure in the justice system yet again

What a monster 😡😡..to this days they're still letting them out for things like "good behaviour". Are good kidding, yeah in prison you're with other criminals, what good behaviour???. Monster for even having those thoughts, then act on them?😳😡. If we could read people' minds, just jail him for LIFE for having those thought...why even wait for him to act, NO way. Cherish had not lived yet and this...gosh, just have stayed in jail from the 1st crime.
The medial examiner retired not long after her testimony for this case. Smh, such a necessary work those professionals do for our society. It requires such mental fortitude. As I went into my studies, I knew I didn't have it in me to be go into investigative examiners. But we all have a reaching point. If any, this case would be it. What she described breaks your core to hear.

Well in this case she let her daughter go into the van. Mothers, please don't let your daughters get into vans with strange men saying they have a wife who never shows up and puts rope in the shopping cart...
She had a bad feeling about him but yet, allowed her baby to go off with him? Makes sense. Mothers don't take their children to go off with some random person. Her negligence is what killed cherish. She gave that monster her baby.

Which is why when her boyfriend gave her $100 and said remember you need $60 for the trip to the airport tomorrow, she shouldn’t have spent thirty of the extra on cleaning supplies at the dollar store. She could have bought a couple outfits or sent some money along with Cherish towards her dad buying some clothes. Instead she did the worst at every point -spend all the money, still no clothes for Cherish, and keep them running around town with a suspicious man into the wee hours without any dinner when Cherish had an early flight in the morning.
The father was going to win full custody eventually. He was married with stable housing and income. Rayne is the antithesis of stability with zero interest in changing.

Not to diminish the horror of what this man did but parents should have some common sense as well - Basic parenting 101. This to me is almost borderline child neglect. If a mother made that type of decision that would send most of us running (creep o meter) ... what other bad calls is she making at home. Allowing him to take her daughter to change room?! Allowing a complete stranger (when you yourself said you had suspicion?, take your daughter for food? There is no victimization of the mother and manipulation (as the woman (judge) in video states). There will always be sick people amongst us but it’s up to the parents to protect from these individuals when possible. If you want to accept the mans money and gifts in desperation ; you keep your child by the side.

Sorry, but isnt that the rule No.1 we teach our kids - do not talk to strangers, do not accept anything from strangers and never, never get into anyones car unless you know them well???
