I highly recommend HPRC's rolling tripod/grip cases too. They're basically like the SKB but it opens up horizontally like a regular pelican case instead of loading from the top and it also includes latches that you can put a lock on.
i really like the way you explain and talk in your videos, its a pleasure to watch them, im starting on the videoweeding stuff, and your channel has helped me a lot! keep it up Matt! greetings from Chile !
If you go to Goodwill or used sports stores, baseball bags, hockey and golf bags are also budget friendly cases. Not hard though or as rugged of course, but still a container for all your loose stands
Bought a used golf bag hard case years ago for $5. it works great saved me the 10 "or more" trips to my car every time I shoot. Also I don't like leaving my gear unattended. The main problems with the case I have are , how tall it is " like 5 feet" which makes it hard to maneuver and how heavy it is when full making it very hard to carry when you can't roll it.
Thanks for doing this. This is a unique tripod bag. I have one comment. Your equipment seems pretty beat up from bouncing around in the tripod case. I'm sure it doesn't effect the performance of these items but it bothers me. I will look for a case where I can add something to protect the items from each other.
Hi Matt, Thanks for posting this informative video. And for sharing your expertise. I have a similar SKB case, only it opens clam-shell style, like a toolbox. Similar in size/dimensions also. The same rugged construction. Same wheels. And I love it as much as you love your case. I added a thin layer of foam padding just to make me feel better.
When we bought Vinten Tripods. They were $10K each and they came with these shipping cases. LOVED Them. Sold the Vintens years ago. but miss the cases :(
For Cereal!!!! Check out the price is still large www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=67240&gclid=Cj0KEQiA4o3DBRCJsZqh8vWqt_8BEiQA2Fw0eb0IXhsZLxo5DUzpBC5u1x8ZfPXSIJtwmDziibzQ70AaAiVB8P8HAQ&is=REG&ap=y&c3api=1876%2C92051678162%2C&Q=&A=details
they put the handles on the top half and not in the middle because usually tripods tops ( heads ) are heavier than the bottom side . so when you carry it from the handle it will balance rather than lean to one side and u fight it
About the 'problem' with the top hood which can come off if one of the clips isn't secured. Isn't it possible to fasten the band om the top of hood? Just an idea
It looks like a great idea but I'm the kind of person that wouldn't want scratches or knicks on my equipment. Have you seen and scratches on your equipment carrying it around since there is no padding to protect the tripod, monopod etc?
Hey Jack! I probably have picked up some scratches from using this case, but on my tripods and monopods I don't really mind, they still work great. You may want to invest in a different case with dividers etc, if you don't want scratches.
No worries :) I was just curious how you would have felt about it. I'm looking into investing into lighter weight Manfrotto tripods, Tripods I have now are heavy duty and its a pain
Great video, as always Matt. I can see how this would help in transferring gear, but removing all tripod heads and even seperating all the steadicam parts prior to storing them inside the case, isn't going to be time consuming and a total hussle when you arrive at different locations the day of shooting? You have to reassemble all this gear?
Hey Panos! I usually have everything loaded initially and then I load it with what I need when heading from location to location. So for example at the hotel I may not bring in the tripods, but then when I get to the ceremony venue I put those in the case. The time it takes to load and unload it is still quicker than taking multiple trips.
I'm not Matt but I have the 42 inch model I bought a year ago and I love it. They refined the lid by adding a indentation with 2 metal loops 1 on the lid and one on the base. Which you can place a TSA lock on thus adding a 3rd point so the lid can't open even with both straps unlocked.
Once again sir....I turn to you for your plethora and abundance of expert knowledge. White balance.... A7sii has its 3/4 custom white balance options at the bottom of the menu but which one suits as a 'one sizes fits all'?! I shoot pp8 cine4 and have a huge mix of natural light and artificially lit locations....what white balance can I use for everything? With good skin tones, no crazy changes in colour, just a real gradable white balance. Love as always 🙌🏼
Haha thank you! There is no "one size fits all" for white balance. Depending on the light you'll need to change it. I use the Kelvin setting and change between different numbers depending on if I am shooting in tungsten, fluorescent, daylight, etc.
Thank you for the reply my good sir! I've only recently had the balls to venture down the menu and change up the custom white balance but because I'm not used to it I still only see oranges or blues i.e warm or cold, is that simply something my eyes just need to start getting used to? As in....instead of a white balance setting start thinking of your colours as hot or cold? Or even the custom white balance that sets with the grey card....or is that blasphemous photography only?? Hope you're well sir 🙌🏼
p.s, don't you hate subscribers asking questions about a subject that has ZERO to do with the content of the actual video they commented on? 🙄 Tactics sir....tactics.
An Æmæricæn household with a bust of Beethoven??? Defies belief almost as much as the idea of an Æmæricæn actually listening to Beethoven. Nothing personal, of course.

"Of course it's easy for lift!" :) Thanks for a great review

Hey Matt! Those golf cases are so great! :) You're right though, everything is heavy.
Great review.
I was looking into this case but we will be doing a lot of flying.
Your tip about the ease of it coming open is invaluable.
Thank you

Beats the soft sided golf bag that I have been hauling around. This looks like a great option. Thanks.
maybe you should show how you carry it. and maybe test how strong the material is.
I carry it over my head like the video still. And I jumped up and down on it and it didn't break.
There's hardware for a padlock on the case if you were worried about the lid during travel. And I just got mine from Walmart for 100 bucks online 🤩
Adding a latch would have been the way to go. Those straps are crazy.
Good review, thanks for making it.
Thanks Omar!
When I was a child, a horror story called "Coffin on a wheels" was very popular.))
Anyway, good stuf, Matt.
Hahaha this kinda does resemble one!

Cheers for the review, just ordered mine.
Excellent review
Great review. I’m looking for something to transport mic stands and something like this looks like a great solution.
Awesome job, per usual.
Thanks Tyler :)

You're blowing my mind Dory! hahaha!
Well thanks Matt. I just bought this for a trip to DC. and I'll let you know what I think. (I'm taking Amtrak.)
+MEBoisv sweet! We don't have any good trains in Texas.

Really Good review, thanks for making it.
Matt, is this still the case you use? I was looking at the pelican 1740.
LOVE THIS CHANNEL!
+Oliver Ibasta thanks Oliver! 😁

Your beard is getting longer and more majestic.
That's the goal! Thank you!

+Erik Thureson thanks Erik!
Hi Matt, as this video is 6 years old, I would love to know if this is still your go to case for tripods and stands etc?

Will the poles for Flashpoint C-Stands fit inside of this case?

+Zemene Geberhiwot you’re welcome!
can u make a review about what gear you carry on backpack for a wedding day
That's a great idea Elaman! Going to definitely cover this in a future video. :)
Great review! Thank you Matt! I finally know who you are! #majestic
Haha than you!
Matt, would you recommend being able to put this on baggage claim when traveling to different states for weddings?
Hey! I would recommend the hard cases on this page because they are lockable: kit.com/whoismatt/destination-wedding-gear
Thank you. I'm filming my first wedding out of state that I have to fly to.
can you do a tripod gear review plz
I use Manfrotto Fluid head tripods. They're cool. :P
Can you do a review on that shirt.
+Anthony Vella definitely
dude you are funny. nice video. might buy it
+Dior Choi (JetSetDior) thanks so much!
Do you shoot weddings alone?
Nope, I always bring at least 1 second shooter.
An Æmæricæn household with a bust of Beethoven??? Defies belief almost as much as the idea of an Æmæricæn actually listening to Beethoven. Nothing personal, of course.
good for weedings, not for travelling lol :)
+Rien q'un sac à dos lol exactly
nah, don't think it will hold my Sachtler 25 :P
Haha so cheap! :D
yep... 8kg of German cheapness hehe... Good for the muscles though :)
Good lord RUclips! Why is 1440p the only option?! That's totally weird
maybe when it just got uploaded to youtube, the other version are not ready. watch it again you should see all the options
Because you must watch in the highest quality possible! :P
Are you losing weight?? You look good braaa
Hahaha definitely gained like 10 pounds this year. All the weight goes to my beard though.
Matt! What's your snapchat? Eh?
Haha I think it's "whoismattj"? I'm not on it a ton (gasp! I know!)
