I like a multiclass with 6 levels order cleric. Bonus action hold person, auto sneak attack action is pretty pretty nice. Also the church inquisitor is cool for rp.
That’s crazy. Literally the character I’ve been playing for 4 years now is basically that. I’m currently level 14 and 7 levels in Inquisitive Rogue, and 7 in Order Domain Cleric. Inquisitor Nikolai is a half-orc cleric of Tyr. It’s been an incredibly fun character!
Artillerist artificer is a free bonus action sneak attack, letting you hold your action for an off turn sneak attack. So I hope to see it on a rogue build. (Mastermind seems fitting. Because I'm expecting swashbuckler to be dipping eloquence bard. Hmm phantom would be fun here too, great for giving chase on a harengon or tabaxi.)
Once per turn, you can deal an extra 1d6 damage to one creature you hit with an attack if you have advantage on the attack roll. The attack must use a finesse or a ranged weapon. If the cannon is tiny (handheld) and if the DM rules it is a ranged weapon, then the attack could have sneak attack applied to it. There’s a similar application using a sling with magic stone. As the spell says the rock can by thrown with a sling. Since the cannon is made from carved wood, perhaps it could be a crossbow or atlatl (dart thrower). It would require a DM to agree.
I like Circle of Stars Druid 2-3 with Rogue Inquisitive. 1. Guidance Cantrip, Goodberry, etc. I like magic stone for this character which allows me to use a sling and get sneak attack while relying on Wisdom. 2. The utility of using your stealth ability with CR 0 common beasts gives you tremendous opportunities to spy, including sneaking in crime scenes or a target’s residence. Listening to his conversations, knowing when he’s lying to them. The lies and enemy tells another may be useful to you. Reading documents from a curtain rod as the target writes secret messages. Lots of useful options. 3. Starry Form Dragon Constellation gives you reliable talent with all Intelligence and Wisdom checks. 4. Grabbing level three gets you pass without trace, enhance ability, and summon beast. Which makes you better at supporting your team.

How does the artificer artillerist get a free bonus sneak attack?
I would say that that would not work RAW. You make a ranged spell attack, not a ranged weapon attack
@@DapperSnapperGaming That seems awefully nitpicky.
How so? That's like saying you can get Sneak Attack with Firebolt

Personally I think Fey Wanderer Ranger is good too, so you can bump up charisma for rp investigations
