That link takes me out of my YT app and into a Google web page. I'm on galaxy s24. Just saying
I recommend playing the recolor version of Castlevania harmony of dissonance. It looks much better than the original on modern displays.
(Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance - Recolor by JonataGuitar and sorrow)
Just a shame that the recolor and the reworking of the soundtrack are patches that are not compatible with each other...
@@Rihcterwilker I'm also happy with the original soundtrack.
Instead I use a LCD shader that makes it look like the original screen.
Or an actual handheld.
I played the recolor of Aria, never knew it also exist for Harmony
I love finding out about obscure gems from this channel
Glad the videos are helpful!
@thatvideogamesshow They are!
Fantastic channel
I still play Harmony of Dissonance till this day. And Juste Belmont is my personal favorite Belmont.
One of the best entries in the series!
Golden Sun, so great. It may have been the second game I bought for the GBA or it was right behind Fire Emblem.
I had Golden Sun for a while, and it's sequel.
It was fun!
I liked the "gynn" system they used.
I love your videos about advanced graphics in any console. You are the best, dude.
Best wishes to you. Do a Graphically Impressive Wii U games video.
Thank you! A Wii U video sounds like a great idea!
Another graphically impresive is Star X, the game is... well not so good, but I you like Star fox SNES, is a good choice.
Sword of mana, moto racer are impresive too...
Thanks for another gameboy advance video.
I'll check it out!
Star X is great as a tech demo, not so much as a game
I've always loved the after image effects from Castlelvania
TVGS and the GBA can’t go wrong
i love this channel. so quality
Thank you!
Love listening along to your vids while spray painting cars 😄 howdy from Melbourne.
Awesome! Thank you!
People forget the GBA is a 32bit system.
That doesn't really mean anything. The N64 is a 64bit system whereas the original Xbox is a 32bit system. The cpu capabilities, memory bandwith, gpu (or lack thereof in GBA's case) and power draw (extremely low in GBA's case) are much more defining.
It impresses me what some developers were able to do with the GBA's very modest specs, but indeed it's more capable than the SNES (in most regards).
@OriginalChrizum the gbc and original gameboy and game gear were 8 bit. Bunch of wankers like you come in with your ACKCHUALLYs and fail to see the point at the time for handheld this was significant leap.
You're wrong!
PS1 is an 32bit system, but, with more capabilities that the GBA
It's illogic that the Xbox Classic is an 32bit system.
@@jonathanjoleanis4014A CPU do Xbox clássico é de 32 bits, assim como a CPU do Gamecube e do Dreamcast.
@@jonathanjoleanis4014 I'm not wrong, my dear internet stranger. In the modern age of gaming tech, bits is meaningless. Bits refers to the memory word size of the cpu and nothing else. You might have heard from these 32bit consoles: PS1, GameCube, Xbox, Wii. Among the consoles with a 64bit cpu are: N64, PS2 and every modern console (PS3/360 and beyond). The more you know!
Thanks for putting Rayman 3 on this list like I requested lol you're top tier for remembering 😂 on another note, Rayman 3 may have the most style in terms of visuals I've ever seen on GBA since it's all so fluid and just fits together smoothly without looking like anything is out of place (save for perhaps the driving sequences)
Another great one for this series would be Moto Racer Advance. That game looks amazing, the framerate is very good and the draw distance is just very impressive. It plays great too
If you played Symphony of the Night and/or Harmony of Dissidence, you'll fell right at home with Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night that I wholeheartedly recommend👌
Isn't there another Bloodstained game that has the retro aesthetic? Would you recommend it?
@Vortigern21 I didn't played that one. I'm currently playing the one that's made on Unreal 4 engine. If you have a fond memories of 8-bit NES/Famicom Cadtlevania games, you'll most likely like those as well. If that is the case, then go for it. From what I've heard about them, they're quite fun.
@@Vortigern21Curse of the Moon. It’s much more Castlevania 3 than SotN, and it is incredible. It’s a better ode the CV3 than Ritual of the Night is to SotN.
@@Vortigern21 for pc I recommand these games.
In order of my preference.
Timespinner
Deedlit in wonder labyrinth
Touhou Luna nights
Chasm
Iconoclast
Blodstained curse of the moon (the other bloodstained for old castlevania style)
And special mention to a mix of castlevania and pokemon.
Monster sanctuary.
puts a tear in my eyes, GBA was the first handheld system I ever bought for myself back in the day a poor high school student saving up over the summer
Maaaaaaaan! Much respect to video game developers! The things they made with only the bare bones World Wide Web they had at the time, physical resources and formal education is insane!
Yet another nostalgic& good recommendations by TVGS.
Thank you for the recommendations❤😊
Any time!
I would get some of these games now, but I decided to do something with my modded GBA and now cannot put the shell back on properly, so have given up and will do it tomorrow. For sure being added to my list of games I'll eventually play though.
RAYMAN 3 MENTIONED!!
It's weird though, Rayman 3 GBA is basically Rayman 2 GBA if you think about it, whilst Hoodlum's Revenge is the proper Rayman 3.
This is why it had advanced in it's name
💯
Yoo Top Gear Rally straight up looking like a PS1 game!
Also Rayman mentioned! The isometric Rayman games for the GBA were just so good too, I remember taking turns with a friend playing them in middle school… good memories.
It looks so good for a GBA game!
Fzero Climax is fully translated thanks to our rom hacking community
great list
Cheers!
When you see games like Top Gear Rally and Tomb Raider on the GBA you realise just how far beyond the 16-bit consoles it actually was.
I had the same thought too when Top Gear Rally popped up. Weird it was compared to the SNES so much.
Want to play these gba game 😊
You see when you see games like tomb raider on console that just blow everything else out the water you have to wonder why there wasn’t more or at least more people that saw what was possible
According to my eyes 2d mode 7 racers like F Zero look way better than any of the 3D racers on the GBA.
I just picked up Super Monkey Ball Jr the other day!
Love this Channel!!!
Cheers!
Harmony is better than the stiff controlling Circle of the Moon.
Agreed
no
Are you going to do a hidden gems of movie titled games?
Sounds like a good idea!
maybe you mean 'movie tie-in,' which is usually the term.
Top Gear Rally is really impressive
Metroid: Zero Mission. Love that game and it looked great
Solid game, covered it in a previous episode of this series!
These games didnt look nearly this clean as they do in this video on the original hardware. Seems you got rid of the texture warping and upped the frame rates a bit. Still great video 👌👍
No way Serious Same is on the GBA LOL That's so cool. I need to play it.
Great video ! What's the OST at the end of the video ?
yaay new Video 🎉
Hope you enjoyed it!
@thatvideogamesshow for sure, GBA and DS videos are my favorites ☺️
I love watching these you always show What I Never Played, for That Thank You. Question?¿ Open Lara?? I never heard or seen that, is that the same as "Tomb Raider: The Prophecy?"
konami has the castlevania advance collection and the DS games on the dominus collection.. sega also have a Jet Set Radio port on the gba with isometric gameplay similar to the tony hawk game shown on this video
Is Open Lara finally finished for the GBA or is it still just the first 3 levels?
Im going to have to save some money to buy a gba or a gba sp
Was the thumbnail changed?
RUclips allows you to upload three separate thumbnails that are randomly shown to viewers. After a short period, the one with the most watch time gets automatically set.
Am I mistaken in saying that Golden Sun II is a necessary follow up to the original game? Isn’t the first game only half the story and meant to be a 2 parter?
13:39 Where do I play the game?
hello ty for the top games would you do game that are translated
I've done an episode on that topic for the GBA. Search it on the channel and it should show up.
9 minutes ago dropped
3:40 Ahh yes, remember when Nintendo did that for us? ...go the extra mile I mean? Instead of below the bare minimum.
On zelda gameplay the shadow of link it's very annoying, i recommend you activate some kind of interframe blending in your emulator
Open Lara is a port or what?
HoD gets such a bad rap..same with CotM...both games were as fun as SotN even if they didnt match it's graphical or musical quality.
I honestly prefer the GBA entries over SoTN.
At the time, just having a Castlevania like Symphony of the Night on the GBA was good enough for me. I felt they were a technical downgrade but didn't hurt the fun at all. Love all of them on GBA and DS. Bloodstained Ritual of the night is a masterpiece as well.
HoD is a great game, the devs really figure out how a lot of stuff to give us a fun and epic adventure on the GBA
@@Rickt2445 exactly.. SotN style Castlevania on to go? Yessssss!
That's why I didn't mind back then...and still don't.
No way teh SNES could pull off these polygons. Yet at the same time, ports of SNES games were usually better on the SNES. Were pixel art better on SNES?
The SNES had numerous built-in features like the various "modes" (mode 7 being the most well known). GBA didn't feature these specific functions so for some SNES ports developers had to emulate certain effects, like the cool effect in Yoshi's Island's Touch Fuzzy Get Dizzy level. Overall though, the GBA was significantly more capable than the SNES due to a much more powerful cpu and (for the time) modern architecture.
These games would've look so much better with CRT filters and shaders 😀
