    I think the Suprima S is a good car despite what they say, it had a look and feel of a serious car, but sadly, its too heavy which really bog down fuel efficiency :(
    Malaysia is not a place where fuel is cheap, but consider Vios had aftermarket value, is no surprise lo...... Stil I thinking of Suprima S as a good choice for those who wants a less expensive sporty ride. Just prepare to burn some cash......

    their point are more focus onto fuel consumption thus make vios a winner but 6 airbags + ABS + EBD + ESC + Hill Assist + price + Handling + safety + 5 star ANCAP are not important. alasan turbo + fuel economy are not practical

    Bought this car (suprima S) 2nd hand last year as my first car. After 1 year of use. It is comfortable and sporty at the same time. Depends on tour driving style. For me as a hot blooded in the 20’s i really like as the pick up of the car started from 2000 rpm. And always blasted the car at Bukit Jambul at 3 am for a touge session 😂. The handling is superb, the power have enough pokeyness for and enjoyable driving pleasure. Keep the good work proton

    Can't really compare those three cars together, very very different car segment all together. A hatchback vs a sedan vs a hybrid? are you kidding me? Just because they all have quite the same price and you want to compare them? No, just no.

      Anecdotal experience: most people buy cars based on the budget they can fork out, car segments are secondary. Bad comparison, techinically, but practical in Msia.

    for me, subject to what u want, if you are girl, go for Jazz, if your mindset like your grandma or grandpa-it should be toyota (& no one can change grandpa mindset), if you like fast, suprima turbo is the choice (if you are young & does not care of the engine sound).

    I really see Vios as the winner just because of the stable gearbox and better interior. But I do think, this is a victory for Proton in any way because they proved that Proton is improving. Only thing they whine about is the gearbox and the interior. Good power, good ride and handling, and all the safety features in Proton.

    • @gempurharimau

      Lol, those words are true in every car, except when it have the Proton logo. Now, just imagined that Suprima is Vios and vice versa, will people will still say the words that you have stated? Or they just starts bitching about safety, boring bla bla bla bla?

    Good effort! I I guess what a lot of folks here were expecting was something very Top Gear-esque, but it's very reminiscent of the first two seasons of the Top Gear reboot.
    So a buddy and I were being arm-chair critics and wanted to add a few comments.
    1) Lapel mics, get them
    2) Transitions are a bit too janky and the walks into the cameraview just don't feel right
    3) Some friendly banter maybe? (I know it's the TopGear-expectation, but a little more, "My car is better than your car!" may work well.)

    hafriz - suprima
    harvinder - vios
    paul jazz-

    One thing that makes me proud of proton is handling...so far i could say proton handling.is way better than vios and city which are bit dull...... They do not think in terms of safety, they just thought of only in terms of fuel economy, it is the reason why they chose vios, which turned out in terms of security, there is no comparative with SUPRIMA s, it is the mentality of people now, more concerned with the economy of salvation.

    hi there..loving the videos/programmes that you guys have come out with..it gave us lot a preview of the car before making our mind up on cars to buy..but i think i have to agree with mohd taufik here..its just unacceptable for u guys to compare a sedan (1.5) a hatchback (1.6 soft turbo) and a hybrid car..maybe you guys are looking into the price range (below rm90k)..but i think its suitable to do it based on value for money purchase on cars..having to look into suprima s..i would say comparing it with the same 1.6 litre car would be more appropriate..let say a kia forte or a mazda 3 maybe..while a vios be compared to honda city..and the list goes on..
    its just my humble opinion on maybe the next episode could be..btw, im loving the videos again guys!keep on coming up with new ones!!

    cannot unsee the ending.
    I think Proton Suprima is coming close to being a truly competitive car quality-wise, if it weren't for tacky interior and less than desired drive train. I would, hands down, go for Vios. Honda's Hybrid looks nice, but I would imagine maintenance costs be quite high.
    My suggestion for Paul Tan and friends: it would be nice if there are some research about the maintenance costs to go along with review articles.
    Keep it up!

  • @hadiTHEgreat87
    @hadiTHEgreat87 10 лет назад +9

    vios handling sucks & lazy engine plus it has just 2 airbag for safety. jazz is so overpriced but still good in handling. proton is just being playsafe and neutral. suprima s have 6airbags, 5star Ancap safety rating, punchy engine torque response in tiptronic mode(still good performer in auto D mode), superb handling(trust me, i drive like pro, u can test) build quality is acceptable. still good & neutral. simple to operate dash, not too much button touch and adjust.

    In my opinion the execution in the beginning the was great. It had relevant information for the viewer, and visual cues. In general visuals were awesome and interesting. In the final part having Harvinder wearing a dress was a yikes for me, however it made the episode daring and comical.
    The only part I would like to see less are bias comments, and more on the car's strong point or things that are relevant for the viewer or the typical driver. I find that Harvinder reviews on the car's ride was more pleasing to listen.
    Overall great first episode and hoping to see the next. Well done!

    hi paul, epic ending to the pilot!
    just a quick question, the fuel consumption for the new vios in this episode is 17.3km/l while you recently managed 11.6km/l in your October 10th post (paultan.org/2013/10/10/2013-toyota-vios-fuel-sound-test/).
    thats quite a gap, any particular reasons?

    • @thomanic
      @thomanic 11 лет назад

      Simple. Most probably difference between city driving and highway driving. The mix ratio of them is crucial. Previous gen vios can achieve 12kml in pure 100% city and 18kml in pure 100% highway. This is why some veteran car review publication used the same route, same time and maybe same weather to do fuel consumption testing.

    • @kevinquah3441
      @kevinquah3441 11 лет назад

      yeap. just wanted to clarify. since the video stated it to be "a mixture of city & highway", while in paultandotorg was perhaps more city-ish (sub100km).

    Malaysians are all almost of the same minded; looking down on its own product, When was Proton established and how long it takes for them to be almost in the same par with other international cars? Give them a chance as they are indeed improving and try looking at a better picture here. Yes yes, Vios deserved the winning place but calling proton a piece of shit? You may have your opinion in cars and you can buy some other car if u desire, but dont go calling ur own product a shit.

      First impressions on a brand have lasting consequences on the buyer. Proton has a lot to do to clear its image. Rebadging cars and taking advantage of the higher tax for foreign cars is not helping for a car company that has the purported national car status. However, things are looking up. I think that the Suprima S and the Iriz are steps in the right direction for our national car company.

    • @sanusizulkifli89
      @sanusizulkifli89 10 лет назад +2

      Kishel Raj Mohan yes totally agree. Looking at how much proton has done in the wee years since they started probably is the reason why we should give it more time to mature. but malaysians expect things to improve in a jiffy albeit their minded has gone no way at all near impressive and probably thats why we cant thrive. Change the attitude and mind first then only you can expect change in other aspect

    actually the vios looks a bit to large for a 1.5. Not much complaints about the suprima except that it should have been slightly more efficient due to the presence of a turbo. The jazz only looks good if it has the mugen bodykit or else it's too dull.

And... finally: If you want more space, get the Preve. Same protection, more space, lower price. So what if the Vios feels a bit more refined... if that's what you are going for, why not let it compete with the Peugeot 208?

    Ahhhhhh man, I don't wish to be mean, but I am disappointed with this new Driven. The old one was a lot more dynamic and entertaining. In any case, this is still a good, serious and highly informative show. A great first effort ! I liked the puns and general humour here and there, but what I loved most was the emphasis on car safety. Dua tangan thumbs up for that ! Looking forward to episode 2. :]

    Felt comfortable with Harvinder explanation, so what if the slang isn't international i am more incline to talk with people with such tone.

    good review, lot of information. Maybe I am used to how top gear presenting the show, I preferred more of the friendly chit-chatting among you guys, rather than presenting the car with scripts. Good ending touch thou.

    A good pilot episode, but seeing that this is made for local viewing it would not hurt to have a little manglish here and there. Relax a bit more when making puns and especially a punch line to a joke. All in all the information in this series is just as good as your website's.

    bagi sy proton suprima the best kalau nak lawan minyak memang la suprima kalah.. tp bayang kan lah suprima turbo memang lah makan minyak da nama nye turbo.. kereta yg toyota n honda da ckp terang2 hibrid n toyota plak enjin biasa yg save minyak.. kalau nak banding kan suprima dgn vw gti laa... tengok mana makan minyak.. n test power sape pegi dulu.. i da try proton suprima dgn vw gti yg harga lebih 100k still tak bleh lawan dgn suprima.. baru betul lawan n tengok harga keta n minyak... betull takkkk...

    How on earth did u manage 17.3 km/L on the vios? been using the it for almost 6 months and only managed 16.6km/L and that's on cross country.

    this comparison based on price or apple to apple spec?

  • @faezanee
    @faezanee 11 лет назад

    Looking at the price range, I would recommend to buy Honda City 1.5E since Honda currently doing promotion of 8K rebate. Plus, City got the VSA safety feature compared to Vios. Of course, there'll be new City next year but who cares as long as the car has economical fuel consumption.

    In my honest opinion, it feels and looks heavily scripted (most probably is). I'm sure for 3 car guys like you all, it's easy to do a casual, impromptu review with free speaking. It will look more professional this way too, as audience will know that the 3 hosts actually knows their stuff (which you guys definitely do). But good job overall!

      ***** Keep up the good work. It'll become more natural as you go along. One option you can do is to try going through a stream of consciousness presentation as opposed to saying what you've scripted initially. Might use up a lot more tape but it would feel a lot more natural.
